Parity grunts at Kiyomi's response and says no more, heading deeper into the dungeon.
Bridge
"Everything and everyone can be corrupted, Harlan."
Chamber of Long Regrets
"Hmm, doesn't seem to belong here, does it?" Parity queries once the room's contents are described to him. Suddenly, he snaps his fingers, "Hey, didn't that little forest spirit we talked with on our way in ask for us to look for a miniature tree? This it?"
Great Procession
"Must be the way forward, eh? You know, I'm scared of the dark ..." Parity smirks as he quickly uses Vanguard tactics (+3 init, CMB, and concentration checks for the next 3 rounds) and then moves forward, leading the party into the dark.

The Great Procession of Mortality
"How many do you think lived here? Surely they must be waiting for us, one final trap."
"Only one more trap would be fortunate I think. It seems we've been down here for months." Heng says with uncharacteristic glumness.

Chamber of Long Regrets
"It may be a trap, Heng. Or worse, a symbol."
Heng looks confused by Harlan's observations. "It is only a wilting tree. It looks like it suffers here as do we."
The monk perks up at Parity's words. "One of the Kami mentioned this small tree? Than surely we are honor bound to save it." The monk quickly gathers up the suffering plant.

Buoyed somewhat by the little bonsai, Heng takes a deep breath and looks more relaxed nearly smiling. "Let us complete what we have come here to accomplish." Pondering the fragile plant he holds further, Heng asks, "I do not wish this dear plant to be damaged in what is to come. Do we have a way to shield or protect it?"

DM NomadSage |

The Great Procession continues to the east for three-hundred echoing steps. All remains in still silence until you exit the pillared corridor onto a broad stone platform, overlooking a series of crude stone steps descending in a series of crude steps to the southeast. These steps shimmer strangely in the light, but as you near, you see that it is merely cold water, entering from narrow openings in the walls.
As soon as you exit the silent corridor, you are greeted with the echoes of distant screams. They are howls of pain from multiple throats, intermixed with awful discordant peals that elicit further screaming into a terrible chorus. They grow louder and louder as you descend the watery steps, which end, after a hundred feet or so, at a deep black hole. The water swirls and drains down. You cannot see the bottom, and can only hear the echoing screams coming from below.

Does the plant have any affect on that earlier occurrence now that I'm holding it?

DM NomadSage |

The Hall of Screams
As you begin the descent, you make out the outline of narrow stone steps carved into the side of the shaft. Though not needed with your flying magic, you make mental notes for later.
The shaft delves some hundred feet down before opening into a wide natural cavern devoted to anguish and madness. Rusted iron cages hang from thick stone pillars. Each cage holds a human prisoner, all pale from lack of sunlight, malnourished and each screaming madly. The floor is flooded with the water entering from the shaft, and flows towards the southeast.
Three large hideous reptilian beasts lope through the water, 'tending' to the prisoners. Their eyeless heads are dominated by a huge circular maw filled with jagged teeth. The monsters emit shrieks at the prisoners, using gut-wrenching harmonics to send them writhing in agony.
As you enter, the beasts turn to you immediately, emitting warning sounds.

Round One
Initiative Order: Kiyomi [22], Heng [19], Malnival [18], Harlan [15], Kelda [12], Beasts [10], Parity [7]
Kiyomi takes up a song, the melody working in a haunting counter-harmony to the discordant blasts of the aberrations. Within seconds, the cries of the prisoners subside. The beasts turn their attention immediately towards Kiyomi, making noises that sound none to friendly.
Heng moves to the nearest foe, staying above the water, and slams it hard. Malnival follows Heng, but cannot cut the beast's thick hide.
Harlan calls a blessing for the group. Kelda steps up, holding her sword and shield in a guarded stance.
The northernmost beast hops back away from Heng and Malnival, then unleashes a sonic roar at them. From the south, the other two monsters bracket the pillars and bombard the others with sound blasts as well. The attack from the middle seems to have no real effect, neutralized by Kiyomi's singing.
Heng/Malnival: Green Destructive Harmonics: 8d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 6, 2, 6, 5, 1) = 32 sonic damage (DC 19 Ref save for half*)

Round Two
Initiative Order: Parity [7] \\ Kiyomi [22], Heng [19], Malnival [18], Harlan [15], Kelda [12], Beasts [10]
Multiple illusory clones of Parity spring around him as he advances and cuts Suishen deep into the beast's side. Kiyomi keeps up her counter-melody while firing three arrows rapidly, sinking them all deep into the large target.
Heng and Malnival continue to press their quarry, beating it down with several solid blows before Malnival finishes it off with a decapitating scimitar strike.
Harlan dismounts and heals the group with a channeled burst. Kelda and Skygni close in and attack the nearest beast, leaving a couple of bloody marks.
The beasts counterattack as two more emerge from the shadows to the southeast. One blasts Malnival and Heng with another sonic attack, and the other does the same against those near Kiyomi and Harlan. The two in melee range lay into Kelda and Parity respectively, ripping into flesh with sharp talons and toothy maws.

Heng and Malnival move together, closing on the next beast and connecting with solid attacks. Harlan secures the bonsai tree and readies his crossbow.
