Leodegrance Tarrant, human (couple of ideas): This character would be Damien's brother, whether younger or older (your choice). Idea #1 is a paladin (possibly holy tactician), which would give us some healing support and more combat ability, but would carry with it the alignment issue, so I wouldn't want to do that if it would wreak havoc with the other players. Idea #2 is a bard (possibly songhealer). This character would be the less clever but more flamboyant sibling who is jovial, charming, and has a tendency to get into trouble. This one carries the possible problem of overlap with Ameiko, though.

I'd like to see where you go with Leo as a paladin.

SO no feed back on Taka?

Taka looks good actually.

Here is a profile for Yvette LaBelle, support healer. As she gains levels, assuming she isn't pulled into a different direction, she would likely gain spells that improve the party, remove debuffs, and heal other conditions. Her first hex (gained at 2nd level due to her ley line guardian archetype) will be healing. If DM Mathpro allows item creation she would likely take Create Wondrous Item at level 3.

Yvette could be a rival, antagonist, friend, or romantic interest for @ElegantlyWasted or any number of other characters, as she has lived in Sandpoint all her life.

Cool, glad you like. As is Taka can find and disable traps really well for first level. Next level will give him trapfinding for magic traps. Magic traps shouldn't come in to play much before level 3 so this should be fine though paizo may blow us up who knows.

Just want to say again I post a lot and can keep up with whatever rate you guys play at. All of my games but one are over a year old and one is over 2 years. Lets do this ;)

Would you allow us to substitute the free Scribe Scroll feat granted by wizard for a free Spell Focus feat like in PFS?

Here is Leo as a paladin (holy tactician) of Iomedae. I considered making him a devotee of Grandmother Crow, since she is the patron of orphans, but empyreal lords are not really the kind of thing that has representation in Sandpoint. He's built to be a congenial "face" character who can also do strong melee support. I took the Sacred Touch trait so that he can stabilize in a pinch before he gets his Lay on Hands ability. He's more of a "talker" to his brother Damien's role as a "thinker." The holy tactician means he gets less in the way of supernatural defenses, but more for battlefield positioning, which could be good support for the party's fighter types. As with Yvette, he could be a potential adversary, rival, friend, or romance for a number of characters, and is built to be connected to Sandru.

Here is Dorian Grey's submission.

I shall write up the backstory on Sunday. Going to a mini-con tomorrow...

Any thoughts, thus far?

Here are my two character submissions. Quint is an arcane healer bard (I plan to take several bardic masterpieces in the future), and Lal Rhem is an arcane trickster. I have played the PFS sanctioned portion of Book 5, but no other portion of the AP.

I do like to post several times a day (though over the weekends and during conventions that will most likely slow down).

If selected I will make a forum avatar for the appropriate character (I'd also appreciate receiving PFS chronicle sheets if possible). Any feedback is appreciated.

Quintus “Quint” Korvaski:
Quint is a young Varisian man with blond hair and violet eyes who originally hails from Korvosa. Never content to sit still, be quite, or accept perceived injustice his life was a constant series of rebellious acts and run-ins with Hellknights (a great deal of which involved stealing one thing or another for his family). He often used the local imp population as target practice. A few months ago he was seen stealing from the garrison’s wine ration. Though Quint narrowly escaped capture this latest crime was one too many in the eyes of the Hellknights, and he was forced to flee Korvosa. He stowed away on a caravan heading for Magnimar and after being discovered a day or so out of Korvosa managed to talk the caravan master into hiring him on as a guard (at a reduced rate). Around Sandpoint the caravan was attacked by goblins and Quint was severely wounded—were it not for the timely intervention of Koya Mvashti he surely would have died. He took it as a sign from Lady Luck that his journey had come to at least a temporary end (Quint also felt greatly indebted to Koya) and has been in Sandpoint for the past several days.

Ready for Consideration, may I introduce... Cabri Erratan.

If there was ever a fanboy in the Pathfinder universe, Cabri probably fits the bill. He regards Ameiko as a hero and strives to become like her someday. Of course, in real life he is timid, and downright clumsy at times. As a summoner, his eidolon manifests itself itself as a courageous warrior, something he truly wants to emulate someday.

So I know Summoner's have a tendency to get action heavy and overpowered, so I used the Unchained version as its a bit more balanced. In combat, Cabri acts a support mage as his Eidolon wades into battle carefree and recklessly.

Got a twinge of inspiration and decided to just go ahead and do up Leng the Wanderer, human monk anyway.

Admittedly, Leng is probably not a good fit for this group - he has no healing abilities or trapfinding skills. He was just a whimsical concept that I found amusing. He is basically a happy-go-lucky, blandly simple monk who travels from place to place.

Notably, because of the weirdness of PF's Perfect Strike feat, he gets a bonus feat (the aforementioned Perfect Strike) that he doesn't actually use with any of his weapons. Oh well! No Stunning Fist for him. He would eventually go down the Ascetic Strike route + Improved Trip (from bonus feat) and start wrecking house with the kusarigama anyway. (I guess there's a possible backdoor at level 3, because Ascetic Style lets him use anything that has Improved Unarmed Strike as a prereq with his monk weapon, and IUS is a prereq for Perfect Strike, so... loophole!)

Mostly he is a character who is amusing in my head. :)

I have also made some slight expansions to backgrounds on Yvette and Leo, to include a bit more about their potential histories with Damien, and to add pictures to both of them (it's linked in the "Homepage URL" section).

How would you all, especially Derric, feel about another Kitsune?

The idea is that my character's ancestors came here several generations ago with Tian merchants and have lived hidden lives in Magnimar since a few years after it's founding.

Since nothing is known about Kitsune reproduction I assume they are compatible with humans based on the ability to take human shape and the fact that most anything seems to work on Golarion. I'd also guess that a Human-Kitsune pairing would always result in a Kitsune, with the human parent influencing build and the appearance of the human form.

Based on that she'd still be Ameiko's half sister, the result of a dalliance on Ameiko's father's part (he has another established daughter outside of his marriage as well).

Class-wise she'd be a non-standard trapfinder as she'd be an Oracle with the Seeker archetype and the Wrecking Mysticism curse which is a Kitsune racial option. Most likely she'd have the Lunar mystery but I'm not sure on it yet. She and her kin would be heavily entrenched with the mystery cultists of Magnimar, the worshippers of Empyreal Lords. She be one of Ashava's faithful though I might have her convert to Tsukiyo if she comes in contact with her in Minkai. She'd also pay some homage to Daikitsu, though more as a guardian spirit than as an object of worship.

I'm thinking about younger sibling as my character's campaign trait. I'll figure out which of the two NPCs I like better once I have a feel for her. Sneaking out of the house/inn to follow along on adventure! Leaning Ameiko now that I say that, since she seems chattier.

Hrm.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ok having looked at the two NPCs in the players guide and thought about it more, I think I'm definitely more interested in profession/craft stuff than being related to the crime syndicate, so Ameiko it is. Shelyn worshipping is an easy fit, time to figure out class.

My second character selection would be a Barbarian/cleric lv 1 of Erastil with domains of community and plant subdomain growth. This Cleric of Erastil started out peaceful enough wanting to see small communties flourish and grow and keep the faith of the forests without seeing larger cities grow and flourish as they diminish both community and plants. He would have a crisis of faith and become a raging maniac after seeing how much the large cities are spoiling the world and become a barbarian.

At first level he would be a strong front line battle cleric with some slight channel and a few channels to secondary heal.

At second level and beyond he would be a front line battle raging maniac looking to tear people apart because of their desecration of Erastil's edicts.

I am not particularly stuck on dwarf, but for some reason they have been speaking to me lately.

Alternately I could go with an Elven Rogue ghoul touch build I have been mulling around but I would need to have the quicken spell like ability feat which would have to be approved by GM

This would be an unarmed attack rogue using touch ac to deliver and because unarmed attacks qualify he would use weapon finese.

It would look something like this:

Rogue:
so a minor face and trapfinder most likely archtype scout which is helpful to get sneak attack off for first round positioning and mobility
Elf Rogue str 10, dex 18 con 12 in 10 wis 14 cha 12
lv 1 unarmed combat
lv 2 minor magic: detect magic
lv 3 dodge
lv 4 major magic: Ghoul touch
lv 5 favored class bonus +1 use of major magic mobility
lv 6 weapon focus rogue talent +1 to hit
lv 7 spring attack

Crunch:
Dwarf Cleric of Erastil 1
(10)Str 16
(2)Dex 12
(5)Con 16
(+2) Int 8
(5) Wis 16
(0) Cha 8

I don't mind there being another kitsune in the party. And actually now that you've mentioned it, I think James Jacobs has actually said that human and kitsune couples usually have kitsune children.

And if you want you can have her worship both Ashava and Tsukiyo, similar to how Derric worships both Daikitsu and Shelyn. Why you could have her worship Daikitsu too if you wanted! And the lunar mystery sounds like a great choice! I'm interested in seeing this character.

For your consideration, the following two characters.

Kayin Ashok, male kitsune.:
A happy-go-lucky sort, until his luck turns sour thanks to some old family business that keeps cropping up every generation. Specifically, the first child born to each generation in his family is the one to inherit the burden of a curse that drove his ancestors from Tian Xia centuries back, when the Path of Aganhei was first opened. In his generation, there was some doubt as to who was the recipient of this burden, as three kits were all born at roughly the same time, and none of the parents was especially eager to claim the nonexistent honor of their child being the first.

Only recently has Kayin been revealed as the unlucky one, and while his family feels for him, they don't want his cursed tail around them, drawing in bad mojo. Further, family elders have received messages from the few Tian spirits still willing to speak with them and revealed that if Kayin doesn't return to the long-abandoned ancestral homeland and approach the source of the curse to make amends for the ignoble acts of his ancestors, the curse will take a nastier, more lethal turn.

The caravan setting out from Sandpoint seems to offer the ideal solution to both problems, a belief only reinforced when one of the caravan's members saves Kayin from a brush with ill-fortune that came perilously close to ending his life. And his family's elders, while sternly holding to their decision to send Kayin forth, regardless of his wishes in the matter, have seen fit to give him some specialized training and a collection of scrolls about methods to mitigate and even direct the effects of the curse, if he has the will to try.

Kayin starts as a fighter (eldritch guardian), before going into oracle with the warsighted and dual-cursed (haunted and wrecking mysticism) archetypes. The scrolls mentioned above are actually instructions on how to take the oracle class. They also offer a guide to unlocking and accessing the innate magic of the kitsune (Magical Tail feats).

His campaign trait would be Rescued (Shalelu), and his drawback would be Tainted Spirit.

Kayin would be a generalist, offering light spell-casting and moderate combat ability, with versatility being the name of that game. The big thing is using the revelations granted by the dual-cursed archetype to tamper with the luck of friends, enemies, and even himself.

He wouldn't willingly out himself as a kitsune to the rest of the caravan, even the other kitsune members, for fear that the latter will recognize him and drive him away from the caravan whose aid he desperately needs in getting to Tian Xia. His curse being what it is, that'll eventually happen anyway, because it could cause trouble for him.

Pazeek Splitbeak, male tengu.:
Pazeek is a tengu native to the city of Kalsgard in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, and considers himself to be, culturally speaking, as Ulfen as any of the humans living there. Though he has little interest in the tengu culture of Tian Xia, particularly in light of the poor treatment afforded to tengu in that distant land, he avidly studies tengu combat styles, seeking to integrate them with the Ulfen forms more familiar to him.

He's also delving slowly but surely into the ancient tengu art of shape alteration, and while he hasn't made any breakthroughs yet, he's getting closer with every passing day.

Pazeek hired on with the caravan as guard, getting the recommendation for the position through a friend of a friend. While he is meant to accompany the caravan for the length of its route, it is during its passage through the Lands of the Linnorm Kings that Sandru will be particularly looking to him and his experience with threats found in the region. As mentioned, he has no interest in Tian Xia, though vague family legends regarding weapons and armor meant to aid and enhance natural tengu abilities have piqued his interest enough that he's willing to make the full journey with Sandru's caravan on the off-chance that he can get more definite knowledge. Privately, however, he vows that the first Tian to treat him like one of the cowed native tengu is getting a properly Ulfen response.

Pazeek is a ranger (infiltrator) focusing on the Natural Weapon combat style, with the basic two-weapon tree and various racial feats rounding things out. Nothing especially fancy to be found here.

The campaign trait is Caravan Guard, of course. Haven't decided on whether or not to take a drawback.

These are both intended to fill the slot in the party that doesn't call for a rogue-type specifically. Kayin is a bit more developed than Pazeek at the moment, but I can work on Pazeek as time permits.

I'll assume the 10-minute Background that seems to be popular for applications, padded out by anything else I care to add beyond that, is in effect?

And how does your table feel about the Eldritch Guardian qualifying for Improved Familiar, and a standard familiar taking the Mauler archetype and--subject to Improved Familiar being allowed--later taking one of the templates offered by Improved Familiar?

Here is the sheet for my Kitsune Oracle, Kiko Kajitsu-Qun

Only things missing are her animal companion (a wolf with reddish brown fur named Muunokhoi, or Muun (pronounced Moon) for short) and perhaps some last few purchases, though she doesn't have that much money left over.

As one may notice, she's a crappy combatant right now but that should improve with a few more levels (Proficiency with Longbow by 4th lvl due to FCB). Her lacking combat abilities will be partially compensated by her companion, who would function as a flanking buddy for the current Samurai and Warpriest.

She would have grown up with her mother in Magnimar and as such would have had her mother's name.

She would have first met Ameiko when Ameiko ran away from home at 13 years of age and went to Magnimar. She would not have know it was her sister though. Her mother would have told that to her later in the letter she left her upon her death. Kiko would have thought about what she should do at first and on later, during the events of RotRL would she have made her way to Sandpoint.

RotRL spoiler:
This would have been just after the giants had attacked Sandpoint.

She would have helped repair any damage to Sandpoint and would have introduced herself to Ameiko shortly after, using the letter from her mother as proof. The fact she looks like Ameiko's father and to some extent like Ameiko also helped.

Still need to fully formalise the background, these blurbs are just parts.

I just realized it seems we can submit more than one character submission. If so, then I would also like to present Percival Carston Von Roland

Percival is a strict alchemist who believes in the ethics of hard work and risk.

You might also say he's a jerk.

Natural Talent has no place in his world, and those who inherit their place in the world can, as Percival puts it, "Take as much distance as they'd like."

His relationship with Ameiko is one of mutual respect. He recognizes the fact that she has inherited against her will, and she relives stress by screwing around with his experiments and concoctions. She's supplied Percival with a ways of diplomatically telling someone to "f*@& off" and he has prepared various alchemical items for her amusement and use. Sometimes, he considers her more trouble than she's worth, but he can't deny that she makes the day more lively.

So he has some useful skills including Disable Device. In combat, he has his bombs but primarily engages in melee by imbibing his mutagen. I really enjoyed the idea of a stuck up jerk rolling up the sleeves and suddenly becoming ripped.

Writing up my characters, have a question regarding retraining and class features replaced by archetypes. I'm considering adding Divine Tracker to Pazeek. However, the granted feature at first level is a pure bust; he is by virtue of race and class both already proficient with any relevant weapon he could choose. Could he retrain that feature to gain the one that it replaces (wild empathy).

Kayin and Pazeek are written up and ready for inspection!

You might want to double check the link. It was working earlier but now it's not. Still very good. All you need now is a background, personality, and description. But overall it looks good.

Ah yes, here it is again: Kiko

I corrected the spelling of the name as I missed an 'i' in Kaijitsu.

Working on a consolidated background, description and personality. It's quite late here though so I'll probably get to it in the morning.

What I can easily say about her description is that she prefers her human form in public. She grew up in a place where Kitsune are largely unheard of but lycanthropes are known so a humanoid fox could easily be mistaken for one.

That's true. I can actually see her scolding Derric for walking around in his true form in public. :)

Here is my application.
I hope I'm not too late. :D

Background:

Born from an ancient elven Family, Elk’lyn was banished from home while still a child. She carried an ancient curse in her blood. The little elf was able to see in the dark, and the family patriarch, would not tolerate that dishonor in his house.

For many and many years, she lived in the streets on a human city, often hiding during the day and going out during the night. Elk’lyn loved climbing to the highest place she could find and stare at the moon and stars, she did not remember anything from her family beliefs, or any cursed bloodline, but she loved the moon, the stars and the light.

The years passed and she began to use her knowledge of human cities to get a job as guide. Often she did not received anything for her services, for she was still a ‘child’, but she was patience and in time, she began to work for a caravan master as a guard trainee. She was fast both in mind and body but frail, so they trained her to use bows and other kind of weapons. The scarce training she had as a child in her elven home came back to her and Elk’lyn was able to master the use of many weapons, melee or long range.

Elk’lyn lived with that caravan for many years. The caravan master and his wife took her as hey daughter, and for the first time, she knew what was to have a family.

During one fated trip to the distant city of Sandpoint, her caravan ambushed during the night. Elk’lyn was the one supposed to be on lookout, but caught off-guard while staring at the stars, they could muster little resistance and soon were slaughtered. The bandits, believing the elf was dead, left her on the road.

Elk’lyn awaked days later in Sandpoint, to find that only she had survived the attack. Obsessed with the bandits that killed her parents, Elk’lyn stayed in the town, learning its secrets and trying to get information that could help her to track the killers. She was a frequent presence at The Rusty Dragon, and once, after Elk’lyn had drowned her sorrows in booze, Ameiko, the lovely Ameiko, was able to get out of the elf her history.

It did not take long then. With the Sheriff Hemlock help, Shalelu tracking skills and Kendra resources, they found the bandies and brought then to justice.

Now, Elk’lyn lives in the town, she has a debit to pay, and even though Ameiko always says she only did what was right, but the right thing that it saved Elk’lyn.

Appearance and Personality:

Slim, pale elf with black eyes, almost white.

Being abandoned by her elf family and then later blaming herself for herself for the death of her human family has left Elk’lyn with some serious scars.
She is quick to smile and dismiss things she doesn’t like as joke or unimportant. Almost never really reveals what she is thinking and has trust issues.

Once she gives her trust it’s absolute to the point of paranoia.
Some would say the elf is crazy.

Standard Racial Traits

  • Ability Score Racial Traits: Elves are nimble, both in body and mind, but their form is frail. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, and –2 Constitution.
  • Size: Elves are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Type: Elves are Humanoids with the elf subtype.
  • Base Speed: Elves have a base speed of 30 feet.
  • Languages: Elves begin play speaking Common and Elven. Elves with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Celestial, Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Orc, and Sylvan. See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.
  • Keen Senses: Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
  • Elven Immunities: Elves are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
  • Elven Magic: Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on caster level checks made to overcome spell resistance. In addition, elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Spellcraft skill checks made to identify the properties of magic items.
  • Weapon Familiarity: Elves are proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows), and treat any weapon with the word “elven” in its name as a martial weapon.
  • Low-Light Vision: Elves can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Alternate Racial Traits

  • Darkvision: Though uncommon, some groups of elves are born with darkvision, rather than low-light vision. In many cases this is taken as a sign of a drow in the elf's ancestry, and can lead to persecution within the elf's home community. Elves with this racial trait gain darkvision with a range of 60 feet, but also gain sensitivity to light and are dazzled in areas of bright light or within the radius of a daylight spell. This racial trait replaces low-light vision.
  • Lightbringer: Many elves revere the sun, moon, and stars, but some are literally infused with the radiant power of the heavens. Elves with this racial trait are immune to light-based blindness and dazzle effects, and are treated as one level higher when determining the effects of any light-based spell or effect they cast (including spell-like and supernatural abilities). Elves with Intelligence scores of 10 or higher may use light at will as a spell-like ability. This racial trait replaces the elven immunities and elven magic racial traits.

Damien is updated yet again! Keep thinking of fun stuff to do :p

I'm still working on Kiko's background, it's coming along nicely. It is, however, getting quite long as well.

As for her background skills, they are Knowledge: History and Handle Animal. The Knowledge: History represents the many hours she has been drilled by her grandmother on the history and traditions of the Tien community in Magnimar as well as it's kitsune. The Handle Animal more or less comes along with having a wolf companion in a city and keeping the animal in check so it won't get confiscated and/or put down.

EDIT: Out of curiosity and background consideration, in which year are we setting this game? The year JR launched or Golarion's current year? Just trying to figure out how much time I have to cover in which Ameiko and Kiko have been more in touch.

Apologies but never had a free moment to complete his background. I will write it up after work.
Any comments?

Kiko is now done, except her animal companion.

I'm not sure how to present it. Would a separate sheet and alias be needed or should I add it in a spoiler on Kiko's sheet?

You can add it in a spoiler to Kiko's sheet. I did the same thing with Derric's horse Blaze.

Anything you'd like to see expounded upon for Kayin and Pazeek?

Everything looks good. Nice background stories.

First off I want to thank Derric for helping out with this recruitment thread. It was awesome to have you step up and help out while I was away.

So I'm closing things down and I've made my selections. I've decided to take 3 players(I know I origonally said two...).

*dramatic drum roll*

My selections are:

Kiko Kaijitsu-Qun
Damien Tarrant
Leodegrance Tarrant

I'm sorry for those that didn't make it as there were some really great builds submitted. Those selected will also be getting PM's from me and can post in the discussion thread linked to this recruitment thread as soon as you have time.

I think the 3 are great choices!

Thank you for consideration.

Have fun everyone.

Congrats guys.

congrats and sorry to have missed out. If you need another player later please look me up!

Sovereign Court

Thank you, and good fortune to those of you still on the prowl for a game!

You're welcome gm! I'm glad I was able to help out!

I want to say thank you to everyone who submitted a character! Y'all did an amazing and fantastic job on these characters! I wish we could have picked all of you! :(

But still it was an honor to have meet such amazing and talented people like yourselves! Thank you again!
