Is the table for the oracle’s spell progression correct in Player Core 2?.The table shows them starting with 3 1st rank spells and going up to 4. Same thing happens with each new rank. They start at 3 and got to 4.

But the Oracle Spellcasting section says they can cast 2 1st-rank spells at 1st level. Pre-remaster they followed the same progression as cleric or wizard.

(Edited to remove references to sorcerer.)

While that would be an increase for Oracle, that's what Sorcerer has always had.

Although it should be noted that Wizards also have 4 slots per rank... one is just locked in. (Universalists get to Drain Bonded Item for each rank separately, which effectively lets them cast 4 per rank each day)

And of course Clerics have thier font feeding them 4 extra slots at their highest rank each day, which I would say is at on par with that extra slot per rank even with it being limited to Heal/Harm.

Should have looked up sorcerer. But the text under Oracle Spellcasting still says the Oracle starts with 2 1st level spell slots.

We'll have to wait for the day 1 errata of PC2 to knownfor sure what's correct, table or text.

However, there have been rumors of someone from paizo confirming that the table is correct. This allegedly happened on some community discord, but I haven't seen the text myself.

Liberty's Edge

Nobody should ever trust anything that allegedly, or even factually, happens on the various dumpster fire unofficial (not that any of them actually do anything to flag that they ARE unofficial) Discord servers and/or subreddits.

There is one actual Paizo Discord but even that is not intended to be used as an official channel for staff to communicate with the community with the exception that they use those spaces to share ACTUAL announcements that are made either here on this website or as a method to quickly communicate information about things related to conventions and events in a timely manner.

Trust it or not, it's the only information that we got (kinda-sorta), so I thought it worth mentioning. But I wouldn't build my character around it before I see what happens on the 1st. Day 1 errata seems extremely likely for PC2.

The actual "source" "confirming" this is the BadLuckGamer youtube streamer, who updated his Oracle overview video to say "my source" confirmed to him that it's 4 slots. He didn't say who his source is. Someone at Paizo provided him a review pdf in advance, but that's probably someone from marketing, and may or may not be the alleged source, and may or may not actually know the real answer.

One of the discords (there are many) popularized (with approrpiate skepticism) this youtuber claim. Perhaps another claimed to be a separate source. Perhaps this is all a bad dream. Perhaps we'll get errata soon telling us whether the 4 slots in the chart or the 3 slots in the text are correct.

Or perhaps not.

It is fascinating how these responses appear to be correcting each other even though they all say nearly the same thing.

It's more like they're providing corrections to one another in spite of having what amounts to the same content.
