Hi,
In a game someone want to play a lamia (with the serpentine tail, since it look like some nagaji are in this form the GM was ok to have the legless from the Merfolk to replace the nagaji's "Serpent’s Sense" trait) but the GM told him that some people could be scared or hostile to him, cause he look a little like a monster, i know that the disguise skill can be use to try to hide race and even size at -4 on the check, but i find it strange cause idk how can he hide the long tail.
So i want to know if there is some way feat/trait/spell that can let him hide his tail for an extended period of time (min 4 hours), if its a spell it must be from the alchemist spell list or you must find a way to gain acces to the spell.

The player will need to use the disguise skill to hide it. Disguise self (spell, extract, or item) can give a +10 bonus on that.
For actually swapping to having legs, asking the GM to add the spell Fins to feet to the alchemist extract list would do thiss.
25,200gp gets a shimmering kilt that gives legs as well.
There are more ways to get a tail than to hide/lose one

there are several issues;
Lamia CR6 This creature’s upper torso is that of a comely woman with cat’s eyes and sharp fangs, while her lower body is that of a lion. thus a large quadruped (humanoid-lion form). There's more to hide than a tail...
or are you talking a wingless maftet?
PF1 doesn't have Wemic or Liontaur(lol, horrible naming).
Monster PCs involve problems that Home GMs have to resolve. The main problem is balancing power as many monsters have innate attacks/abilities and racial hit die that the player races do not. This used to involve monster races taking levels like an aesir requiring 3 Level equivalent (ECL).
The two skills that oppose what you are doing is perception and knowledge local(to know creature type and abilities/features). Not being a humanoid has several advantages mainly in the spell targeting department.
I'm going to suggest the player choose a tiefling and simplify things and reduce problems while keeping a lion-like look. Alt racial traits Prehensile Tail and Maw or Claw will get bite or claws. There are feats to expand on this so it is a very viable path. Catfolk are another option.
Otherwise as a lion-centaur your best bet is to pretend to be a Urmahlullu or centaur variant. Still, they will trigger automatic perception checks and know(local, arcana) checks wherever they go.
Class-wise the player might take Shifter-druid for 3+Shifter mins of a lion form.
Lastly there's Disguise skill or spell in something like a Hat of Disguise.

Azothath I think the aesthetic the OP is going for is a woman’s body with the lower body of a snake (check google images for lamia and you will find many pictures in this style) though that may not match well with the pathfinder version of the creature. In this case a long flowing dress may pass at a distance but will probably not hold up to close scrutiny. A hat of disguise at 1500gp would be the easiest long term way of dealing with the problem although would still fail with highly perceptive individuals. If you want a physical change to cover this problem a 2 level dip in Vigilante will allow you to take the Malleable Flesh talent that functions as Disguise Self but actually physically changes the body. Other than various methods to gain Disguise Self some sort of polymorph ability is your best bet I would think.

the PF1 version is a carry through OGL version of DnD3.0/3.5.
The oddness of a PC Monster is why I suggested taking a standard race that can take the look that you want and is functionally easier, thus a practical solution to the non-RAW desire.Mysterious Stranger |
Going from what you are asking it looks like they want to play a lamia matriarch. They are the ones with the body of a serpent.
Since both the lamia and the lamia matriarch are large creatures hiding the tail is not going hide your race.
Assume Appearance has a duration a 1 day per level and is on the alchemist list. But finding a dead body of the appropriate race may be difficult. Claim Identity is also on the alchemist list, but also has some issues.
Lamia matriarchs are shape changers and can turn into a fixed humanoid form. But they are significantly more powerful.

It’s a little unclear but the OP’s first post references the Nagaji race. Reading it again it seems to me that the OP’s GM is allowing him to use a modified Nagaji with a serpentine lower body as his “Lamia”. This would make him a medium sized PC race not using the “monsters as PCs” rules guidelines. If this is the case it simplifies things a little. I think, if the GM is on board, a 1 level dip in Synthesist Summoner would solve the issue. While not being particularly effective for combat fusing with an humanoid eidolon that looks as close to normal human (or other acceptable looking race) would give the OP potentially an all day disguise self ability.

Yeah for the form when i was looking up its the lamia matriarch form if i was talking about the nagaji its because we played a pf2 game last time and another player was a Sacred Nagaji
And the GM was alright for replacing one existing trait of the nagaji with some legless trait that replace legs with tail and he cant be tripped.
I didnt know about Assume Appearance but i think it might be the solution since i though of using a lot of clothe to hide the tail he could still use a lot of clothes so the other PC dont realize that he change body, disguise skill could work if he keep the same body type.

Another alternative race could be the "Sthein" from DreamScarred Press. You're already in House rule territory. This is a great 3rd party race you can find on the D20PFSRD site. Basically and elf-naga hybrid with good features and the physical body you want.
As to effective disguise, the tail is quite long, flexible, and at least pseudo-prehensile. It's a heavy investment of skills and gear if you want to go unnoticed (or at least pass for humanoid), but investing in disguise, bluff, and either Acrobatics or Perform (dance) could cover you.
Spend some of your starting gold on a quality/masterwork set of pants or long dress. Have the custom build include quick tear-away leg seams or binding cords. Have your character fold his/her tail into quarters and put them down the pant legs. Acrobatics or dance let's you "walk" on your tail, albeit probably with a speed penalty. Disguise is already covered. Bluff is to explain any gait awkwardness, stumbles, or loss of height as either being of a smaller race and/or having a limp, malformed limb, or other birth defect. The cords or tear-away seams are so that you can burn a swift (or move at worst) action to drop the garment and move unencumbered for fight or flight.
Regardless of the race you land on, that gear and skill comb can work from level one. Obviously it will be more challenging if you choose a skill starved class.
