The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Fendahl takes on the form of a genie, the more benevolent cousin of the evil divs, as he sends Kirrah back behind the walls of the ruins to protect herself from further harm.

Oswin continues his struggle against the northern div, only managing to hit it once. But at least his luck is better than Owyn's, whose every thrust is blocked by the div near the altar.

And Algor... well, he'll recover one of these days.

Staying within range of Tico's aura and being helped by Algor's 'lockbox', Bruagher feels that his power is increased, though the increase to his bravery is a bit disconcerting for the tactically-minded tengu.

No stones seem to fall this time as the icy runes circle in the same spot before the ball of ice flies at Oswin's target once more, aiming to hit the creature in the face.

Braugher's snowball only lands at the div's feet and starts to melt instantly in the hot desert sand. Oswin backs up but the weight of his armor is almost too much and even causes him to make a mistake while trying to cast a spell. Fortunately Owyn is still fighting strong and manages to land a strong hit on the southern div.

The divs still feel that they have the upper hand and are quite enraged at this point, snarling curses against Sarenrae and vowing, "We will wash away this pathetic holy site! Not one grain of sand will remain here, we will scatter them to the corners of the desert!"

Yes, no negatives on stats but at 0 Str I believe you are paralyzed.

And yes, this is a tough combat. Tricky DR and they knocked Algor out of the fight for a long time at the beginning. Also, when poison is run correctly it's far worse than the way most people run it, especially when the monsters have a constant supply and just keep hitting you with more doses.

Will: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Oswin falls to the ground under the effects of the poison but Fendahl continues to press the div and lands a trio of good hits as Algor tries to gain some insight on these creatures by prying into one's mind. It rejects the invasion, however. Owyn swings a couple of times before he finds an opening to dig his sword into the div's side.

Tico offers a blessing as Braugher tosses himself into combat (still invisible I think, right?) and bites at the div. Both divs are quite angry now though and neither looks ready to flee.

The northern red div recognizes that an invisible enemy is nearby so he tries to move towards his ally to close in on the deadliest target right now: Owyn.

"Prince Zinlo's speech and the release of the Aspenthar-born prisoners are the other two targets. We should regroup and prepare for those. I believe the prisoners should be released before the speech, so that is where we should head."

"Do you have any knowledge about the release of the prisoners that might aid us, Master Lyheri?" Braugher asks with a respectful bow.

Lyheri seems interested in Algor's warnings about clihmute change but doesn't quite understand what gas forges have to do with divs. But when Braugher explains that there is more terrorism planned for her city, she hurries the group along to the temple. "I don't know anything about the prisoners or who might be behind this but I hope I can help in my own way."

When you arrive at the temple (and spellcasting services needed while you're here? or scroll/potion purchases?) Lyheri goes back to her private offices and retrieves the keys to get into the sacred vault, from which she retrieves a holy staff (8 charges remaining). She hands it over to you. "I hope this can help you prevent more evil today. Please return it when you are finished. Although if you were to make a donation to our church equal to half the staff’s market price, I would be willing to let you have it permanently."

@GM - since Fendahl will retire after this, he has Prestige to burn, can he use 2PP to buy a scroll with 5 lesser restorations at the temple?

Fendahl will try to purchase a scroll or several to restore Kirrah back to complete strength.

Hrrmm, once we have resolved our injuries, I may still try to commune with nature to gain insight into the other potential attacks.

After the fighting is over, Oswin feels relief enter his frame. He enjoys the warming sensation of the channeled energy, then feels a tiny bit of strength return to him as Lyheri treats him.

He has just enough strength to speak when Algor's spell stops the poison and his strength is restored.

He wearily rolls into a crouch and stands up carefully. He adjusts his pack and weapons, then retrieves his blade.

"Well fought, friends. That was quite a battle. And thank you for standing by me."

Oswin the looks to Fendhal.

"I can cast a spell of lesser restoration a couple of times myself, Fendahl. Could Kirrah use the aid?"

If Fendahl agrees, he will approach Kirrah cautiously with palms open and offer up prayers for her to Iomedae.

Any suggestions on how to use my empty 1st and 2nd level slots?

Algor might purchase a scroll of heal. I'll need to check my ITS/chronicle sheet tomorrow morning when they're handier.

Algor bows gratefully upon the offer of the staff (should Tico carry it?)

"You are fahr too kihnd, fair Lyher'hi... we will wield this staff in a wahy that makes you proud."

He then looks to his allies.

"Should we check the prihson next? I wonder what we could expect there that we could prepare for in advance?"

What are we looking at in travel times for crossing the city? Would 10/min/level spells be good for a few locations?

If the estimate is that we could visit a couple of our locations in the span of 3 hours, Algor will conjure extended heroism, barkskin and heightened awareness alongside a non-extended false life. The false life definitely happens.

@GM: Is the implication that you can get a Holy Staff for half price on this scenario?

Braugher follows the group and watches them regroup and recover from the fight with the divs. "Algor is correct. We should investigate the next locations as soon as possible to see if we can find any traps being set. Let us find the location where the release of the prisoners will be happening."

You can purchase whatever scrolls you want from the temple.

And I'm not sure why the staff "donation" thing is written that way. It has the normal price on the chronicle sheet.

Before you leave, Lyheri promises, "I will mobilize several of my
colleagues to be on guard when Prince Zinlo gives his speech. Hopefully they will be able to protect the citizens if you are not able to stop the attack before it happens."

Aspenthar has several prisons and guard compounds, but Princess Ziralia’s intelligence identifies one in the city’s southwest as the likely target for a prison break. Most of the guards are out escorting the Aspenthar-born prisoners in observance of the Sun Orchid Festival, leaving all foreign-born prisoners under the care of a skeleton crew (but not skeleton in an undead way... although that would be interesting).

In order to avert the brewing crisis here, you need to prevent a prison break without causing so much damage that local authorities could blame foreign saboteurs. Unfortunately as you arrive, the agents in charge of letting the prisoners go—dressed in Pashow’s pale yellow, black, and maroon colors—are already starting to free convicts

Prison map is up. Since you came here second, you're more limited on options other than fighting off the agents but it could still be done nonviolently (although doesn't have to be). You can make a quick plan and place yourselves on the map if you want.

Assuming there is no resting and the party needs to be back in fighting shape today,
Fendahl will purchase additional 7 scrolls of lesser restoration from the temple to use on Kirrah. One scroll of 5 for 2PP, and 2 for 300gp

Hrrm, I hope these work well enough. We have limited time, otherwise we could rest.

lesser restores x7: 7d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 2, 1, 1, 3) = 16

That will get back up to full strength, unless there were other, cheaper options.

Fendahl scans ahead while approaching the prison.

perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23

Hrmm, what is the plan here? Knocking on the front door seems unwise.

Once the group is ready to enter by whatever means, Fendahl will cast Freedom of Movement and Resin Skin on himself and barkskin on him and Kirrah.
