Living Bonfire interactions

Rules Discussion

Living Bonfire is a kineticist composite fire/wood impulse saying "When you make a wood ranged Elemental Blast, you can have it come from the bonfire instead of you, flinging burning logs. This blast deals an additional 1d6 fire damage. Each time you do this, the size of the bonfire is reduced by one 5-foot square. If all the squares are removed, the impulse ends.".

The bonfire itself is a 2 actions fire and wood impulse, but its damage is an "additional fire damage" to a wood blast, RAI it could be the bonfire to do the damage of the WHOLE blast (the wood blast generates from it and then takes the fire additional damage). How does it interact with other fire kineticist damage buffs if we keep that Elemental Blast without any infusion? (so no two-element fire-wood infusion)

1) Fire Impulse Junction: Increase the damage die size of fire damage dealt by the impulse by one step.

2) Fire Aura Junction: Enemies in your kinetic aura gain weakness to fire from your fire impulses. The weakness is equal to half your level.

3) Ignite the Sun: You and each of your allies within the sun's light deal an additional 1d6 fire damage with all Strikes, spells that deal fire damage, and impulses that deal fire damage.

Do any or all of those apply to a Wood Elemental Blast coming from the Bonfire without infusions?

If you use a basic Elemental Blast of Wood type and deal bludgeoning damage (for example - vitality damage or using Versatile Blasts or Weapon Infusion to deal any non-fire damage with the Wood Elemental Blast would behave the same way), then the Living Bonfire adds a 1d6 fire damage to that impulse - or 2d6 starting at level 9.

That added fire damage would interact with the other feats and abilities that trigger from fire damage of an impulse. Though in the case of the Impulse Junction you wouldn't be able to trigger the Fire Impulse Junction when using an Impulse that isn't a Fire Impulse.

1) Fire Impulse Junction: The extra dice of fire damage increases by one step. You probably can't use this one with just the basic Wood Elemental Blast because it isn't a Fire Impulse. If you did a more complex Impulse that has the Fire trait, then you could use Fire Impulse Junction to increase the die size of the added damage from Living Bonfire from d6 to d8.

So to directly answer your question: no, you couldn't gain the interaction of Fire Impulse Junction with Living Bonfire without using Two-Element Infusion on the Wood Elemental Blast. Dealing fire damage doesn't give it the Fire trait or make it a Fire Impulse.

2) Fire Aura Junction: The enemies in your kinetic aura would be weak to the fire damage of your impulse. This effect begins when you Channel Elements and remains as long as your kinetic aura is active.

3) Ignite the Sun: This does not have the restriction that the Fire Impulse Junction has that the ability needs to be triggered with a Fire Impulse. This would add an additional 1d6 fire damage to the d6 fire damage that Living Bonfire is providing.
