Interesting items added to GM Core

So looking through GM Core, I noticed a few items that were new to that book. There are a lot of threads talking about the changes to the classes, the rules, and things that got renamed. Thought it would be good to highlight some of the new items that are part of the Remaster.

Here is one that I was very happy with.

———

Shining Symbol Item 3+
DIVINE INVESTED LIGHT
Usage worn; Bulk —

If you worship a deity, this golden amulet transforms into your deity's religious symbol when you invest it. You gain a +1 item bonus to Religion. The symbol casts dim light in a 20-foot emanation.

Activate—Spiritual Light [two-actions] (concentrate, light, revelation) Frequency once per day;
Effect The light cast by the symbol becomes bright light for 10 minutes and shines through bodies to reveal hints of the spirits within. Creatures in the light receive a –1 status penalty to Deception and Stealth checks. You can Dismiss this activation.

Type shining symbol; Level 3; Price 55 gp

Type greater shining symbol; Level 9; Price 650 gp The bonus to Religion is +2. Spiritual Light's penalty is –2, and while it's active your enemies in the light gain weakness 5 to spirit damage.

Type major shining symbol; Level 17; Price 13,500 gp The bonus to Religion is +3. Spiritual Light's penalty is –3, and while it's active your enemies in the light gain weakness 10 to spirit damage.

I’ll leave it to others to highlight new items they were happy to see added.

Only items that never appeared anywhere else? That is, excluding (non CRB-)items copied from older books?

I can't open my copy right now, but one item I really enjoyed was a new specific magic armor that you could use to recover from injury. I'll try to find the name and specifics later.

Well, that was my initial concept. Highlight things people may not have noticed that were new.

That said, if it is something that came from someplace else and didn’t used to be part of Core that is likely interesting to some folks. I’m not going to complain when the forum thread goes slightly off topic.

Shield reinforcement runes
Self explanatory

Astral rune
Ghost touch with d6 spirit damage. Goes great with the 10 minute prebuff, weakness-inducing light posted above

Greater/Decaying rune
D4 void damage with 2d4 persistent on crit. Greater version doubles the persistent and bypasses resistance and immunity

Crown of witchcraft
Free action focus point item. Gives your familiar tough which frees up that familiar ability slot. Also gives +1/+2 to intimidation and +2/+3 to your patron's skill.

<twitch> I hope we're not going back to the days of "this fire is so hot it can even burn a fire elemental!" Bypassing an immunity that something has for being tough is one thing, bypassing an immunity it has by virtue of its core nature is quite another.

I second this, though if I had to guess, this is in part to describe a way to represent void damage's ability to erode materials, not just damage life essence, thereby working on constructs and undead by disintegrating the body more than the spirit.

Still, I kind of feel like it should be more specific since it seems unlikely that sceaduinar should ever take void damage given how they're the next thing over to void elementals...

I think that void damage is an exception for "being able to overcome immunity to it". Since some of the things you'd expect to be immune to void damage are like "undead" but undead absolutely can succumb to decay over time (c.f. demiliches.)

Let's hope so.

Don't all the greater elemental runes have some ability to bypass resistances?

That particular aspect doesn't sound new to me.

They just bypass resistance, not immunity

Not really a new item, as such, but I did want to mention that the Plate Armor of the Deep having its name changed to Tideplate is great stuff, and I like its new abilities to let you melt into bodies of water.
