Most fun opening adventure to an 2e AP?

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

Hi all, as the topic says I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the most fun opening adventures to an PF2e AP.

I really like collecting low level adventures that I can run my players through so that they can play around with different characters and themes and the like.

I have the Beginner Box that we used to learn the system, Crown of the Kobold King, Kingmaker and Abomination Vaults.

The opening of Kingmaker looks fun and quite easily re-skin-able to make it an attempted coup or assassination that the PCs get caught up in. I like the opening of AV too. The start of CotKK seems a little lacking and basic (Hallows Last Hope) which is odd as the PF1 version seems much cooler.

What have your experiences been? Extra points for interesting foes, hooks and situations.

well... the fight to start out BLOOD LORDS is pretty memorable.

but, and this is 1E, it's hard to beat the start to GIANTSLAYER, where the PCs engage in a tug-of-war.

For the APs I've run, the start to TYRANT'S GRASP is so unique, and my guys really played into it, that's a special one for me. for STARFINDER, we are running ATTACK OF THE SWARM! and that AP's brutality was hit home straight away when we almost had a player death in the opening encounter.

*insert obligatory joke about player vs character*

I don't know how the rest of the adventure path shakes out, but my favorite 2e adventure path so far (still in Book 1) is Outlaws of Alkenstar. Its bank robbery opening plus subsequent run from the law is tons of fun, and the first book just keeps going with great flavor and fun encounters all throughout.

I guess we all have our own definition of fun. For me, Zombie Feast, the first volume of Blood Lords has been the most fun I've had as a GM (and my group has had the most fun with as well) - because there is lots of dark comedy that can be mined here. Very memorable NPCs, with Berline Haldoli being the star (she's like Winnie the Pooh with a knife). I really leaned into the comedy potential, creating new scenes and opportunities inspired by the NPCs - and more important, by the way my PCs have responded to them.

While the second book (Graveclaw) has a different tone, I've reworked the NPCs there to keep the tone consistent with the fun we had in the first book.
