This was really good

Hi all, I only have the first book in the AP so could someone tell me if it is narratively important for Ugly Cute to be a giant stone spider? Is there a a larger spider theme that gets more developed later in the AP or something?

I would like to swap it out for another animal and I am wondering if that will mess up things that are supposed to happen later on, like if I changed it to a giant toad, or a two headed tanuki or something?

Thanks!

Ok this is really cool

Oh I like this. I'm thinking of making a big thing about how the PCs go to sleep in this great "party tent" type pavilion thing set up for them and then they wake up in the dirt somewhere and have no idea how they got there. If they can get back to the pavilion they can get their stuff but the place has been trashed. If they waste too much time, the mist starts to descend and the woods get progressively less safe.

To answer the post, (in my game) the PCs reset to the pavilion. Afterwards, they are found by monsters, enchanted so that they don't wake up, and carried off while they are still sleeping. They are saved by Ugly Cute, but they wont find this out for some time.

Now that you mention it, it is a pretty oddly human-centric town considering how highly cosmopolitan PF is. I mean, I get it - this AP is inspired by folklore rather than high fantasy, and nearly all protagonists in folklore and fairytale are human. But still, I think every NPC is human, or human-seeming, except for maybe a single leshy.

Would it have been too difficult to have, say, a third of the town kitsune, yaksha, or even, I don't know, ratfolk? Or a combination of these? Particularly considering how it takes place just after a festival, and they bring in people from all over the place?

But hey, I'm no PF2 lore writer. Maybe it would have been too difficult for reasons I am unaware of.

That said, one thing that can be helpful with the "all one species (human) setting" is that it is super easy to change to all another ancestry. You could easily make this a dwarven, grippili, or <insert whatever ancestry the PCs would like to play> settlement. Or just swap in the ancestry mix that makes sense for the world you run I guess.

As to yaoguai, if any of your players happen to read this AP you could insist they play one. Called, perhaps, "UC". Who was once maybe, I don't know, a guardian statue until something strange happened and they "woke up". They know what is going on but can't tell anyone for fear that... well. Reasons. ;)

If I was a player I would want to play a minotaur so it's sarangay all the way.

This is great!

This AP looks very intriguing. Anyone played the first book yet? How did it go?

Thanks and yes Know Direction is a good one.

Hi gang, anyone know of any good PF2e podcasts that are NOT actual plays?

I'm getting really *really* bored of all the 5e content in the GM podcasts I usually listen to (Sly Flourish, Mastering Dungeons, Eldritch Lorecast) and am looking for alternatives.

Thanks!

Hi all, as the topic says I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the most fun opening adventures to an PF2e AP.

I really like collecting low level adventures that I can run my players through so that they can play around with different characters and themes and the like.

I have the Beginner Box that we used to learn the system, Crown of the Kobold King, Kingmaker and Abomination Vaults.

The opening of Kingmaker looks fun and quite easily re-skin-able to make it an attempted coup or assassination that the PCs get caught up in. I like the opening of AV too. The start of CotKK seems a little lacking and basic (Hallows Last Hope) which is odd as the PF1 version seems much cooler.

What have your experiences been? Extra points for interesting foes, hooks and situations.

Are ysoki even popular?

Hi all, I'm running the BB for a bunch of newbies soon and I was wondering if there were alt art for the characters & character sheets?

Specifically, I don't want the girl who is super keen to play a wizard to be stuck as an old man, but all my players are gender reversed (cleric and rogue are guys, wizard and fighter are girls).

Thanks!

Ummm isn't having "racial beliefs" suuuuuper problematic? Like it is the exact same reason why racial alignment is bad.

Plus this should really be sitting under culture and not ancestry. But it probably should not be there either.

Hell it would make more sense under background than ancestry. And it would still make no sense there.

Might want to check with a bunch of cultural consultants before you walk face first into this one. You have done a lot of good work Piazo. Don't ruin it.

a ha! Right you are Eel.

Hey all, personally I find trawling through the books to find treasure for my PCs both difficult and dull. Difficult as I don't find it easy to find/discern level appropriate gear, and dull as well I really couldn't be bothered going through spell lists to find which can be potions or scrolls or wands, and then having to choose what caster level they were made at and then which I should give out etc...

I know on pg 461 of the core rulebook there a 'random magic item generation' table but it doesn't help out with weapon or armor types, and it's particularly unhelpful when it comes to potions and scrolls as it doesn't specify what they are other than caster/spell level.

My question is this -

Does anyone know of a decent random treasure generator? It doesn't have to be a program, I'm perfectly happy with rolling on a table.
