Elemental Weapon Questions

Kineticist Class

So, a couple questions come to mind with Elemental Weapon:
First, does the Two-Handed trait work normally for it? (Can it be summoned into a two-hand grip, or do you spend actions?)
Second, do ranged weapons get conjured up loaded or unloaded?
Third, does doing the same damage type as the elemental blast include any versatile traits of the blast?
Fourth, are 1+ handed weapons valid choices?

Because it would be funny to summon a water gun loaded, and you never reload because you're just expending the thing, etc.

I think it must be summoned one handed first then you 2 hand it afterwards. Loaded weapons should be able to be summoned loaded, however probably not after you expend the ammunition and then regather, since it's still the same weapon. So just keep track of wether it was loaded or not when you expend your element and regather.

So is there a way to make the Backpack Ballista into an elemental weapon?

Considering guns and the fatal trait, a gun created out of elemental water could be using explosive steam to fire supersonic geysers at people. Like a water cutting jet. Kills with fatal could lop off limbs like butter.

That's kind of a whole apparatus on your back and might go beyond one handed weapons, but mainly no because it's 1+

Do the runes from your striking handwraps of mighty blows +1 apply to your kinetic weapon?

Additionally I think Elemental Weapon should be:

Dedicated: You can shape any weapon from your chosen element.
Dual: You choose two elements, and two weapons. Whenever you gather elements it must be in one of these combinations. (Earth/Fire, Club/Sword can be Earth or Fire Club, or Earth or Fire Sword).
Universal: Choose one weapon, each day you can change which element the weapon matches with your daily preparations.

It seems weird to me that this feat needs to be taken multiple times in order to shape the weapon repeatedly. Dedicated gets most flexibility in form from one element, while universal gets most flexibility from elements while restricting form.

If 1+ are excluded it makes getting a ranged elemental weapon limited to stuff with reload or things you throw, both of which have issues (potentially - if resummoning is allowed to always be loaded reload isn't a big deal).

So here's a fun one - air element pistol with Concussive. The damage type is slashing. What resistance applies?

Edit: Oh hell. Do elemental weapons benefit from runes? Because they're not element blast strikes, but there's nothing to put runes on, so uh...?

The damage types, critical specializations and traits situation for how this feat works all need more fine tuning to help make it clearer how to use them.

It feels like restricting you from being able to change you weapon type for a day makes whatever cheese the developers were trying to avoid pretty well covered doesn’t it?

It's still the same weapon when you regather so I wouldn't assume it automatically reloads it for you. You could however, take the feat multiple times for multiple loaded weapons and pick a new one everytime you regather.

It's the same weapon type, but it's a new instance of the weapon. If I gather air in Irrisen and then the next session I'm in the Mwangi Jungle, in what way is it the same weapon?

That's how I would rule it anyways. Simplist way for it to not cause problems. Just have to keep track of wether or not it was loaded when the element is expended. At any rate, one handed weapons are still your only options. 1+ doesn't count to answer your question.

Hopefully the text is a little clearer on how your weapon functions in the full release. The biggest issue is how runes work, since it's entirely absent from the text.

I ended up going with a Wish Blade for my Suli Kineticist.

Simply making it out of fire qualifies for Conduct Energy ^_^

And you could do it every round!

Gather energy, attack with blade then next turn release as free action and do it all over again.

You had me TRIPPING for a moment until I realized that you said Wish Blade is NOT Luck Blade so I went hunting for caveats.

That being said, after looking I'm not seeing anything that stops a Kin from creating any Specific Magic Weapons just so long as they would otherwise be able to get Access via knowing a place that you could/can buy said Specific Magic Weapon... is this right? Could a lvl 3 Kinetecist who played through the Beginner Box conjure/create a Storm Hammer in order to get a free +1 Potency Rune and also the flavorful Electricity Damage onto their Strikes for free?

Sczarni

It reads "one type of weapon", which would be Longsword, Club, Whip, etc.
