Since the update yesterday, I haven't been able to use Archives of Nethys with Safari on my iPhone because the menu button doesn't do anything. (It is working in Chrome although each page loads very slowly.)
Is anyone else having this menu issue?

For the past 2 days things have been wonky: pages loading slowly or just not going to the page it should but reloading the same page. That cleared up mostly me now with it now sometimes doing the same thing with searches [it's like that now as a matter of fact].
PS: This is on chrome. Brave and Edge work, but send me to a funky new search menu I've never seen before.

I wouldn't mind slow searches, but I can't even start a search because the menu won't show up in Safari. It hasn't worked at all for the last 24 hours so I think it's more than just heavy traffic for Dark Archive searches.
I assumed that too [or a slowdown from he new stuff getting added], as right after the new stuff showed up it worked for me but then when I got up today it was acting all funky again.

It is very fast though... At least, to return results. Hopefully they are the results that you want...
LOL Yeah... It quickly gives me a list of results that don't match what I want...
But now, it's saying "The Archives is down for maintenance. This error message could look better."

And it is fairly obvious that this is the problem once you know that the look of the menu bar has changed drastically. If the AoN site still looks like it did last week - clear your cache.
Interesting. The menu bar looked exactly the same as it used to in both Safari and Chrome, but it only worked in Chrome. I'll try clearing the cache.
Edit:
Clearing the cache worked! Thanks!
But the menu bar seems exactly the same as it used to. I'm not seeing any drastic changes or even minor changes. Weird.

Yeah, I gasped out loud the first time I used it. Tell me you don't understand useable interfaces without telling me
I humbly apologize to AoN and beseech their forgiveness, unworthy worm though I am. Now that I've gotten used to it and kept a phone tab open to the correct search bar it's great.

I'm still not entirely sold on it. Mostly for the filtering rules. The old version's filtering rules were fairly straightforward. The new ones are 1) hidden by default, 2) obscure.
Also, I find it strange that the Thaumaturge and Psychic multiclass archetypes exist, but are not linked on the archetype pages. You have to use the search function in order to find them.

If you're trying to find something you vaguely remember about "grapple" you're going to have a bad time if you're pretty sure it's either a feat or item you want.
I tend to do this type of search so it's pretty much a bad time when I use it. :(
Now you can get results like the old search results, but it's limited to checking Sources... :P
PS: I wish there was a way to switch back to the old search somehow.

It's very fast and helpful for finding a specific feature you know the name of. If you're trying to find something you vaguely remember about "grapple" you're going to have a bad time if you're pretty sure it's either a feat or item you want.
Looks like searching for grapple and then activating the “Feat” and “Item” filters under Filter Types will do it. I’m not sure how it could be made easier, maybe moving Filter Types up to the top of the possible filters? Seems like most people will be using that rather than the Filter Alignment that’s currently on top.
I can see the complex queries being quite powerful for more esoteric searches, but there’s definitely a learning curve there.

It almost feels like that particular one (Filter Types) is a little too fine-grained.
For one thing, there are a huge amount of types to read through, so it is nearly impossible to tell which ones are relevant.
If what you are looking for happens to actually be a Relic Minor Gift instead of an Item, then searching for 'Feats' and 'Items' won't find it.
I tried finding Life Boost by searching for "boost" and filtering type to 'Class' and all of the classes came up. You have to filter by 'Witch Lesson' instead. Because that apparently needs to be its own category.
------
Yeah, most of this frustration is just learning curve stuff. But the new search tools really are quite a pile to digest all at once.

Yeah, the granularity there is a bit of a pain. I wonder if there could be some hierarchy of general types that all these types fall into. Then you could do more general searches over large groups of stuff and still have the option of searching specifically through all the… Hellknight Orders, I guess.

"there is no way to go back to the old search and there won't be"
At least tables fit better on mobile. That's been a huge complaint of mine for months.
Well that's disappointing. Nethys is my main online resource and it's biggest use was the search. Looks like I'll be playing a lot less PF2 if I can't find an alternative that I find has a usable search. :(

You can't please everyone with something like a search, frankly. Keeping both versions on the site probably wouldn't work well on the backend.
They're interested in working on it further, possibly to make some filters and such more obvious to laypeople, but I'm in support of it staying either way. I personally found the old search pretty godawful as far as speed goes and I've used Nethys Search often enough since then to grow quite accustomed to it, so having it on the site itself is very nice.
(In case it wasn't mentioned, their update notice stated that the results for some searches aren't ordered properly yet, so it's already set to improve when they can fix that.)

Yeah just being able to toss a word into the Search and see the results below without fiddling for checkboxes and filters was my primary use.
I've always had an esoteric way of searching for what I want, and the new system doesn't work for it anymore.
Like today I wanted to search for all items that interacted with Kickback. I typed in "Kickback", and got everything I didn't want, like the Kickback Trait itself, and rules for Kickback.
Before, everything I wanted would show up below separated by categories, and I would eyeball the Equipment category for what I wanted.
I realize I can now filter and checkbox and do a little dance, but the time I'm fiddling doing that kind of defeats the processing speedup. And applying a filter for just equipment might leave out a spell I wasn't aware of, or a feat, something that would've caught my eye before in the previous layout.

You say that but Sources brings up the same old results you used to get for a search.
For instance, look here: The Mwangi Expanse. So the site still seems to be able to present search info the old way when searching by source material.

I'd rather have a slow search that returns result I can use vs super fast returns I can't use.

Yes, all of this. I've tried fiddling around with it and haven't been able to get any useful searches: the only time I actually found something was when I already knew where to look for it and those are things I don't NEED a search for as I can just go to the section that has it faster than setting up the search and then still having to dig through the results. :(

I just finished a Roll20 game in which I used the new search function of AoN several times.
It's fantastic. I'd type in my term, and it would autopopulate a list of items without my even having to click the magnifying glass or press enter. 85% of the time, what I was looking for was the top item. Furthermore, the list was organized by type, so I could clearly see what was a feat, item, spell, rule, etc.
Loaded super quick and saved tons of time over the old interface.
