You receive one boon from a mythical figure what would you ask for?

I was thinking about this recently. You are playing a 17th level character (your choice of class) and a powerful mythic figure like Baba Yaga say's they will grant you one boon within reason in return for your characters aid (already given this is a reward). What would you ask for? Most things are already doable by you or another party member but you wouldn't want to insult a being this powerful by refusing a generous gift so what would you ask for?

About the only thing I can think of is something like "How do you empower people with gifts to be your emmissary".

Immortality
Her favor/protection of your family line
An Artifact
One of your magic items no longer being needed and just becomes a permanent benefit

Peace

That would have been my first idea, too.

On a second thought, though: Every creature that regards me as an enemy forgets about that soon after. That would allow me to live in peace - or to sneak up on unsuspecting targets.

Back in 2e I actually HAD the immortality conversation with Baba Yaga. I was playing a halfling homesteader called Benarin "'Rin' Stouthammer. His name came from the stoutblooded race variant he had and the fact that the entire campaign he was allowed to specialize in a sledgehammer as his weapon.

So we come down to it, we're in the control room of the hut and Rin is wearing a homebrewed set of gauntlets that give him ridiculous strength. Baba Yaga is on one side of the room and there's an anti-gravity effect pinning the entire party to the floor. Rin is somehow grinding himself along the floor, against the effect, taking damage from her spells and saving against curses, until he gets to the control panel with his hammer in hand.

BY: Wait! You fool, you don't know what you're doing. But if you quit this quest now, I'll give you anything you desire: Riches... Power... IMMORTALITY!

Rin: No old woman, immortality is YOUR game. And look what its done for you; a bitter old woman, doomed to wander alone forever. You have no life, even as it spins into infinity.

When I finish this, I'm going to leave this machine and return to the home I've made. I'm going to marry that girl, and we'll build a life together. An age from now my kin will gather around the fire, warm and safe from your evil, and they'll sing songs of who I was to them.

THAT is immortality. Legacy; Family; these are what carries on and keeps us alive forever in the hearts and minds of all those we help with love and compassion. You will wither and die, but even worse, you will be forgotten.

After that monologue I smashed the console with the hammer. I survived a death save, got laid out on the floor and was losing HP below negative, but my party managed to stabilize me.

In one campaign world my buddy made all those years ago, whenever he runs a game in it he makes a point to show that Stouthammer Falls is still on the map. The only immortality that matters is the effect we have on the world we leave behind. Make sure its a good one.

An artifact is usually good, but then you also attract people who want said artifact. Something that people can't take from you and that won't draw too much attention is probably best, but that is hard at that level.

The idea of making an item a part of you sounds interesting, but that also just sounds a bit weird.

I think the best answer is probably a level of mythic power? That is something that is always useful, people cannot take away from you, and can't be replaced with spending tons of gold.

That would certainly be my request. Something that would place me on the board as a serious mover and shaker on the grand scheme of things. Not so much as I might WANT to make use of that kind of power, but merely possessing it would serve as a deterrent to all kinds of things.

It'd also get you a mythic path ability which even at 1st tier has some nice options including longevity (immortal for those wanting that), Mythic sustenance (don't need to eat, drink or breathe) or mythic spellcasting (even 1 mythic spell isn't bad) and that's just from the general ones.

That's just regular regeneration, without a stop condition.

If the being can grant it nothing unless you want some way to actually die if things get too much to bear.

What are the upper limits of the boon? I'm guessing it's better than just a wish or miracle, since if you're 17 you could potentially already cast that yourself.

I thought that was supposed to be a donut. With sprinkles.

What seems reasonable really. You can't ask to become a god as they aren't a god themselves and even a mythic rank is pushing it but Baba does have her riders and there are feats to let you get a mythic cohort.

Its why I'm asking as most of what I could think of would either need a god or be something a character could do themsevles at that stage.

I mean Baba does have mythic tiers and is incredibly smart so it stands to reason she should at least know a few ways to get at least 1 tier. But yeah that is probably pushing it.

I guess one thing that can be asked for is getting an item version of a mythic spell? Something that isn't quite an artifact to attract attention, but powerful enough that the player wouldn't be able to get it themselves.

A permanent witch's hut you can expand is explicitly a reward you can get in reign of winter though the expansion's up to your own abilities.

Greater Teleport at will as a Supernatural Ability.
