Errata Update (of sorts)

Last we heard the following was the plan

Quote:
The Pathfinder Core Rulebook second printing is coming soon. It will contain updated errata beyond what was released in the first errata blog. The current plan is that it will be added to the Pathfinder FAQ. There is a blog tentatively scheduled for late October/early November to announce the update and give highlights. The Core Rulebook PDF will be updated when the second printing starts to ship.

The CRB's second printing seems to be shipping now (as of last week) and people who got the code from humble bundle have been receiving their codes. As the PDF has not been updated, there may be a better than zero chance that it won't be updated for this print.

I advise anyone against purchasing the second printing as a replacement for the first until it has been confirmed that the errata has indeed made it into the book by people with it in their hands.

On a side note, can anyone explain why they think Paizo would delay a PDF version release to coincide with shipping?
I understand why when it comes to initial releases and not stepping on retail toes, but when it comes to a 2nd printing of a book that is already out in the wild, it seems odd to me to sit on errata for 2-3 months from when it first went to the printers.

Oh well... :(

Only reason I can think of for a delay is not popping the news before an announcement.

But then I’m asking, where is the announcement?

Edit: forget it, it’s still Sunday in the US, they’re not gonna post it on Sunday.

Hope we get it soon, I got lucky and have a few days off in a row right now, would love to dive into that and see how it changes character building. I have a feeling the blog post will be held for Friday, as that seems to be the day the good stuff shows up. Would love to be wrong though.

I hope they say something soon, this core errata has been one missed deadline after another. Maybe it'll even address some of those burning questions we've had for 2 years.

Yah I have the Humble Bundle copy sitting waiting for me to pay shipping that I just won't do until it is confirmed there are changes in it. I don't need a 2nd copy of the 1st printing with all the mistakes.

Lantern Lodge

This was posted earlier on the Facebook group and seems to confirm this edition has the errata.

I'm still going to wait on my Humble copy...

As I said, announcement.

A possible explanation: 1st printing books are still around in the distribution chain and with retailers. Announcing "Here's the errata file that's going to be included in the 2nd printing that's hitting stores in 2-3 months" is likely to lead to people not buying the 1st printing anymore. And that's going to lead to the 2nd printing not actually getting to stores, because they still have plenty of 1st printings left to sell.

Don't make an annoucement post then, just update the product page with errata.

The people who would hold back on purchasing are people who would be disatisified or following closely enough to hold back anyway. I am not sure the marketing logic would hold well enough.

I mean, unless paizo takes back all 1st printings that are still in the wild a similar issue will exist now.

They've always tied errata to the release cycle. I don't know how that policy came into place in the first place, but that's how they do things.

You'll have to ask Paizo directly if you want more information on why they are maintaining that policy now.
