Help locating some items for a nitch build.

Advice

So I’m creating a rogue pregen for a game. They’re a tool for every problem type of character and the game in question is going to involve not having access to purchasing items for a extended period of time, so I need to remove as much reliance As I can on consumables.

I recall, I thought, a magic item that was two glass Vials, one inside the other. You put a potion in the inner one and water in the outside. Then a few hour later the water would act as the potion, thus you could Get a potion’s effect once a day without spending it. Or maybe I dreamt it because now I’m not finding it anywhere. Anyone know what this thing is called and maybe what book it’s in?

Additionally, does anyone have a suggestion for items I should look at for a character like this? It’s also going to be using traps when possible, so any items that could help it produce traps without needing to buy parts would be helpful. I know that’s not something completely doable but it’s a minor investment in abilities and fits really well with the character setup.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Traveller's Anytool is a must for a character like this. Take a look at an All-Tools Vest.

Ioun Stones that grant a bonus on single skills are cheap, as are skills-bonus items in general.

Alchamists have an Extract called Alchemal Allocation which allows an Alchemsist to use any potion without consuming it, meaning that almost every spell of every class from levels 1-3 are on the Alchemist Spell list for most practical purposes.

At high enough level, there is the Lyre of Building, with is a must-have for every handy little skills-monkey.

Yeah Alchemical Allocation is the closest I can think of.

I normally don't like it when people suggest playing a different class, but you could play an Investigator and flavour your extracts as something like that? (You could even limit yourself to only brewing extracts of potions that you find?)

Of course if the game's already in progress that's not super helpful =P

(Also this is a nitpick, but the word you're looking for is "niche")

Brilliant Planner trait solves this, yes?

Brilliant planner is a feat not a trait sadly.

A copycat siphon works something like the OP - it creates a fake copy of a potion which detects the same but only acts as pure water. A boro bead is a bit like it but will only work for an alchemist or an investigator, on extracts they've used not on potions.

A trap-stealer's rod might be fun, though 13.5K is expensive upfront. A bag of tricks is reusable, can be cheap and fits the theme I think.

I like the Extraction Scarificator (2,500 gp) along with a Specialized Healer's Satchel (3,100 gp). The ES can do lesser restoration, and the SHS can handle ability drain, disease, and poison. The SHS also can work on up to 5 at a time. Both are limited per day uses, but renew each day.

This would be the Flask Of Reconcoction, a scaling item.
