Drow Sunglasses

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

In 1st through 3.5 Drow have had a special piece of equipment can buy. Essentially sunglasses to prevent Light blindness is bright light. They were nonmagical pieces of dark quartz or similar material costing about a hundred or so gold. I'm curious if Pathfinder ever created something similar and where might I find it. I have a HalfElf who suffers from Light blindness.

Good news and bad news.

The good news is: yes there is an item exactly for that.

The bad news is: it costs a bit more than 100 Gold.

Lenses of Darkness

Depending on the class and how long you need to negate the penalty there are spell solutions as well. Protective Penumbra negates the penalties for 10 min/lvl. Alternatively, if you count as a drow you could use the spell Ignoble Form which lasts for 24 hrs and would protect your half-elf by turning them into a half-elf....

Lord Khaless he is a Half Elf with a Drow trait that grants him darkvision. I could replace his vision issue by giving up multitalented but I want that particular train for two feats later.
Lenses of Darkness is a joke. 12 grand? That almost pays for two of my magic items I have neither I'm giving up. Screw that suffer Light Blindness or just not have Darkvision. Thank you for responding though

1 level dip in Kineticst with Void Element.

Basic Chaokinesis
Source PPC:OO

Element void; Type utility (Sp); Level 1; Burn 0

You can create a shadow that protects a target from bright light. You can also change gravity to increase a creature’s carrying capacity by half or grant a creature a +4 bonus on Acrobatics checks to jump.

Each benefit lasts 1 hour or until you use basic chaokinesis again.

I had thought of that however I was already three classes so I didn't want the level dip in a fourth class. Thank you though.
I ended up scrapping the Half Elf on the new character and go with Tiefling. His total AC will be slightly lower but his total BAB will be about the same. No light blindness and this way it frees up two feats.

Cool.

Two feats for getting see in darkness! ;)

Creatures with light blindness are blinded for 1 round if exposed to bright light, such as sunlight or the daylight spell. Such creatures are dazzled as long as they remain in areas of bright light.

Areas of bright light include outside in direct sunshine and inside the area of a daylight spell.

Normal light functions just like bright light, but characters with light sensitivity and light blindness do not take penalties.
Areas of normal light include underneath a forest canopy during the day, within 20 feet of a torch, and inside the area of a light spell.

I think that Smoked goggles, at 10 gp, could be argued as protecting against light blindness.

For something more magical, go for Dyso's Travel Canopy, at 750 gp, and get some shade. This will help against light blindness by getting you out of direct sunlight.
