Treating wounds for an hour with Continual Recovery

The Treat Wounds activity of the Medicine skill says the following: If you succeed at your check, you can continue treating the target to grant additional healing. If you treat them for a total of 1 hour, double the Hit Points they regain from Treat Wounds.

If I use Treat Wounds on the same patient 6 times in one hour via the Continual Recovery feat, do all 6 instances of Treat Wounds double the Hit Point gain, as I've never stopped treating the patient for the full hour?

The most generous reading would be that only the first one doubles - each instance of Treat Wounds is separate and you definitely haven't "continued treating the target" for an hour past the second, third, etc instances, only the first.

However, my read would be that "continue treating the target" means continuing take the same Treat Wounds action, and by stopping that one to start a different one you are losing the potential continued benefit of that action.

Looks to me like two mutually exclusive options. Without the Continual Recovery feat, you can treat a patient continuously for one hour for double effect, with no need for a new skill check.

With the feat, you can make a new attempt (with a new skill check) every ten minutes, potentially obtaining six times your standard rate of healing in one hour.

C'mon, RD. You knew this before you posted. <g>
