Just found a scroll I'd like to add to my repertoire

Rules Discussion

Hi all, just found a scroll I'd like to add to my spell repertoire (Bard 1st level currently). If I successfully make the check to learn the spell do I just add it to my other 2 spells? Is there a limit to how many spells I can have in my repertoire?

Succeeding on the Learn a Spell activity as a non-wizard:

A) You are a Sorcerer, Bard or other class with limited number of spells known:
It adds the spell in question as a valid choice for your future level-ups or spell-swaps. The primary use of this is to get access to uncommon, rare, or even unique spells that the GM might hand out as a loot.

B) You are a prepared caster, like a Cleric, who knows all the common spells of applicable level:
It allows you to prepare uncommon, rare, and unique spells you find.

Ohh, there are so many good level 1 spells, is there any way to have access to say 6 of them? So I could choose any three of the six daily

No.

Get scrolls or a wand for the ones that are great, but situational.

Such is the life of a spontaneous caster and I doubt there will ever be anything like what you want. You already know of the Esoteric Polymath feat that gives you ONE spell to choose per day (or an extra Signature Spell), and that's considered quite solid.
Enjoy that you don't have to pick how many of each spell to take each morning, not knowing if they'll be useful. You can always spend your slots on the spells that fit the situation.

Esoteric Polymath is your only real choice at low levels and that only allows you to add a single spell to your repertoire each day.

At very high levels, you can use the Deep Lore feat to add one spell known to each level.

The only other way of getting more spells permanently would be Multiclassing into an occult Sorcerer.

You can choose 1st level spells as 2nd or 3rd level spells and make them your signature spell at those levels. If you want Phantom Pain, Soothe, or Grim Tendrils as a signature spell there's nothing forcing you to do it as your 1st level choice.

Could I learn from this scroll so when I'm level 5 I could make this level 1 Magic Missile scroll that I found a heightened level 3 Magic Missile spell?

You don't need the scroll to add the spell to your repertoire on level up, just pick Magic Missile, a common spell, when you hit level 5 as a 3rd level spell.

You do need the scroll (or something else) if you're a Bard with Esoteric Polymath who wants to add it to your book as an option for daily preparation.
