Does anyone know what "River Kingdom Excavator" boon from the playtest does? All I seem to be able to find is the 'Slowly excavate Ramlock's Tower' without knowing what that is mechanically -- I'm guessing its expand downtime for some long term payoff..... (Do I need to click purchase to find out? Is that a irreversible action? I haven't wanted to click through anything w/o knowing how it all works)

I'm looking t it as a long term hook for my -2001 PC.
Sadly, once you click the button, there's no going back - those points are spent.
No clue at the moment.
Hoping that when they enable the boon printing function that I'll get more info.

I know this one in particular is on Jared's list of things to look into for the Guide. So hopefully, once the campaign leadership have an answer he can get it posted reasonably quickly w/o needing to wait for a Paizo website update.

Well they updated it today....
From 'Slowly excavate Ramlock's Tower' to 'Slowly excavate Ramlock's Tower to gain treasure. May purchase more than once, but cost increases 50% at each purchase.'
That doesn't really help at all with the question of how do we use this boon if we've bought it/are thinking of buying it.

Likely, yes, but it would still be nice to know the mechanics. People have character's they might want to purchase this boon for and start spending downtime towards it. I think its still the only only playtest boon that is non-functional without further information.
Of course being Ramlock's tower I wouldn't be surprised if instead of gold it were access to some uncommon occult items or spells.

No word yet, but the update recently, makes it sound like they've cleared a lot of hurdles in getting closer to have the Playtest Boons up.

Sample version of the boon was posted attached to a recent blog post. Short version:
Record you level when you start spending downtime on this (thereafter called 'starting level').
After 10 "Downtime" (I'm assuming 'days of' is implied): free common consumable of 'starting level'
After 20 "Downtime: 10 days worth of Expert regular success Earned Income at Starting Level + 2
After 80 "Downtime": Free permanent magic item upto starting level +2
There's no common/uncommon/rare wording on the 80 days one, but there is on the 10.
at 24 days of downtime per level, (or 36 for field commission)
Some quick math, assuming you start it at level 1 and would have successes (but not crit) on the earned income checks you forgo):
Levels 1 and 2 Earned Income:
4sp(8 days level 0, success) * 6 adventures = 2.4gp
6sp(12 days, level 0 success) * 6 adventures = 3.6gp (field commission)
Level 3:
1.6gp( 8 days, level 1, success) * 3 = 4.8gp
2.4gp(8 days(4 left over), level 1, success) *1 (80 days reached) = 2.4gp (FC)
Level 4:
2.4gp (8 days level 2, success) *1 (80 days) = 2.4gp
Total lost earned income:
Non-Field Commission: 9.6gp
Field Commission: 6gp
Value Received:
Level 1 Consumable: 3-4 GP
Level 3 expert earned income (same as trained, 10 days) 5gp
Level 3 Permanent magic item: ~50-60gp
So the 10 & 20 day thresholds basically pay for itself, and you get the bonus item. Definitely best on field commission who get the item when its a top tier item for you rather than a lower than your level item.
Starting one a level 2 character (so that starting level +2 = 4) you'll get some advantage from the Expert versus trained earned income
