My S.O. made Jambalaya not too long ago. She kind of messed up the rice but otherwise pretty good. (she made the rice then added it so it got to much moisture and over cooking instead of letting it absorb the jambalaya juices.)

Birthday tomorrow + escape room = much fun.

Looks like tonight is gonna consist of me saying "we are sold out" like 500 times.

I'm not entirely sure what that is but it sounds horrible.

It's an ice cream headache, but brought on by a Slurpee (or Slushie, or Slush Puppy, or whatever your preferred ice slush drink is).

Oh ok That's not nearly as bad as what I was thinking.

So finished the Dark materials by Phillip Pullman and I'm now starting on Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman.

So I did the spartan downtown thing. Had to do burpees on Olympus, multi rig and inverted wall. 30 burpees total.

Full course consisted of low wall climb over - I used the slats as well as a nearby pillar, hopped up the top then jumped down.

Then it was medicine ball throws. Throw a 4 kg ball from overhead down to the floor. Okay cool, I can do that fine.

After that was 10 squats with a weighted rope. I folded the rope over my shoulders and squatted away. Easy peasy!

After that was some walking downstairs (I don't know how to run down the stairs!) to the bouldering section. We were told to do easy, medium or hard and I happily did all 3 routes =P (It's too long since Ive climbed a wall and got the itch)

Then next stop was the gym. Given a choice of deadlifting a bar with 5 kg on each side or squatting with the same weight, I chose to deadlift. Since I already squatted earlier. OK that wasn't an issue.

After that was to the yoga studio to hold warrior 2 for 30 secs. Well, better then doing inverted triangle and all that...

Then it was out doors again. Olympus - I could grab the hand grips fine, but the keep leg on the wall was problematic. My feet kept slipping off the wall. I may need to look for something with better grip. So it was 10 burpees.

After that, inverted wall. Just couldn't pull myself up, I watched videos saying alternate arm alternate foot but just couldn't execute it >< Another 10 burpees.

Then it was the multi rig. That was a lost cause from the start since I can't swing on monkey bars very well and the gaps are far bigger then I'm used to.

Final obstacle the rope climb. Harder then training climbs - I only had 1.5m to practice and the height was double that. I did manage it though =D. My descent wasnt very well done so I picked up a rope burn on my last finger.

Happy birthday, Vid!

I did quite a lot of playing the guitar today and a good deal of sword & shield practice. It's a steel shield, probably around 25 inches in diameter, and I am still not quite used to it, meaning my left arm ached like heck after I'd finished. O well.

OH! Happy birthday, VM7!

Also I'm getting a little annoyed with my dogs for not settling down at night...but at the same time they DID let me sleep through a good part of the morning... So..eh.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Free hold wins the prize for firsties.

It's almost 12:30 pm and my dogs just now wanted to take their first walk of the day.

It's 11:04 pm here, and my one dog is moaning for reasons I can't fathom even though I had him out less than a hour ago.

Mostly right now I'm wondering about how I screwed up on mathing stats, especially with a +4 headband of mental perfection.

Because math is evil.

Maybe he's sad because you wouldn't listen to him when he tried to tell you that you were making a math error.

No I mean like checking in for that night.

Maybe he said prom when he meant some other kind of dance. Just because it would be easier to say "prom" instead of "[insert random dance]".

And you rent to high schoolers? Every hotel I've worked at has had a policy of not renting to anyone under 21.

He was totally dressed for prom.

No I did not rent to him. He couldn't afford our hotel. I also am not sure we have that policy. It has never came up for me. I feel like we don't because I feel like I have checked out some pretty young folks before. Also however our current staff is incompetent so It's hard to say.

Right?

I had heard some schools are stopping summer break and breaking up their days off throughout the year so maybe this is the result of that?

The Exchange

My colleagues are asking me to str train with them in the gym group body pump class(based on light weight, multiple reps) but I don't think it's a good idea because if I want to do ninja feats I need to lift heavy, right?

Then if I don't take it as str training I suspect it will affect my attempts to str train the next day?

Well heavy lifting builds mass. Big weight big muscles. light with more reps tends to build leaner muscle. I think the light weight with many reps is probably more Ninja training then the alternative.

If I'm not mistaken I think the most effective way is to alternate on different days. Some days big weights some days many reps.

I think my favorite part of Anansi boys so far is the little Anansi stories you get at the ends of some chapters.

I read Anansi Boys a long time ago. I don't remember much about it. I think I have it. Maybe I'll reread it.

I have started watching the American Gods TV series, which is in the same universe. So far I'm undecided about it.

The book was good. The series might be padding the run time a bit too much.

I read the book about the same time I read Anansi Boys. Again, I don't have any real impression about how much or little I enjoyed it.
