Interest Check - Crimson Throne AP with PF2 rules

At the moment, this is just to gauge interest.

I'm contemplating running the Crimson Throne AP but with PF2 rules.

I'd want a moderately fast paced game. So, I'd want people to be able to post twice a day on weekdays and at least once on weekends. Its an AP, it will take time to go through it anyway :-). And to provide me with bot macros (including general tactics) for those times when I have to bot your actions to keep things moving. Obviously, life happens and we'll deal with it but the intent is for this to be a fast paced game.

I'm thinking of starting more or less immediately with the latest playtest rules and then transitioning to PF2 rules when they came out. If I did this, I'd allow full and total rebuilds but I'd encourage (NOT force, encourage) people to keep their character concept more or less unchanged.

Or it may be better to just wait the couple of months until the rules come out.

If you respond, please tell me which of the two alternatives you'd prefer.

I'd probably run with 5 players.

In general, I'm a "Rules as I think they're intended" as opposed to "Rules as written" GM. But since one of the purposes of this would be to become more familiar with the PF2 rules I'd try hard to stick to "Rules as I think they're written" :-). Note, I firmly reject the idea that the rules (any rules) can be unambiguously written so I think the RAI vs RAW is largely irrelevant. I totally reserve the right to say "I don't care what you think (or even what I think), I'm running it like <this>. I'd try and limit that to egregious cases where I think an alternate approach just breaks the game but I DO reserve that right.

This will be run in PF1 Golarion. So, no goblin, kobold, etc PCs. Other PC like races are fine (I'll come up with house rules for them, as a result they'll be mostly for flavour and NOT for mechanics).

The AP involves a lot of Really Bad Stuff happening to Korvosa. It is key that any characters have to
1) Be goodish (Neutral tending towards good or good)
2) Be capable of cooperating with "good" authorities AND fighting "bad" authorities.
3) Be committed to saving Korvosa and not doing the only sane thing and just up and leave the city with their families :-).

I'll quite probably modify the AP, likely in some significant ways. In particular, I might well completely alter Book 5. So, having played or run it before isn't a major issue as long as you do a reasonable job of separating character and player knowledge.

This sounds like an interesting idea and I would be interested in participating.

I can only commit to one post daily, but I have several playtest characters that I LOVED playing and am interested in reviving. The only one I'd probably resurrect without severe modifications would be Guy deBarbaro, my 4' Halfling Titanmauler or w/e Barbarian. At higher levels he grows a single foot during Rage and counts as Size Medium and it only gets better from there.

I'm definitely interested. I played a little bit of RotRL converted to 2E. It was definitely fun. The weekday posts wouldn't be a problem. I can struggle posting on weekends

Sounds doable, twice a day... Heavy RP? Probably not... But, to keep action moving and die rolls tumbling, sure.

25 pt Buy? 30? :)

Crafting?

I'd be interested. I haven't tried the PF2 playtest, but looking at the rulebook it seems fun. No real preference between starting now vs starting when the official rules come out.

Very interested. Would love to play one of two following characters;
1) a NG Human Ranger, taking the Druid "archetype" feats as appropriate. Would have an animal companion, taking feats to improve that also.
2) a NG Human Bard, also taking the Druid "archetype" feats. No animal companion.

Either way, playtest rules updating to official, or wait for official is good for me.

edit: They did have another document with the Druid "archetypes"... heh...
edit2: Wife and I will be going on a two week cruise in December to the Caribbean for our 50th wedding anniversary so no internet for me then.

"Assuming" Paul@home goes with the PF2 rules, character creation for PF2 is very similar to Starfinder.

LINK HERE to the Playtest documents.

Silver Crusade

Thinking about it, I think I'll wait until the actual rules come out. It's only a bit over 2 months now and it makes everything easier.

@Papa - congrats on your 50th. It's rare to meet a gamer who is an ever older fart than I am :-)

Ok, waiting till official rules come out, so around August 2nd or so.

Thanks. I do not understand how she put up with me for all these years....

heheh

I'd think tweaks are fine, they can't possibly make a change big enough to kill a character concept?

Besides it's interesting to see what everyone did and how it compared to the official result.

I'm very interested...didnt get into the playtest too much, but am wanting to dive into the released rules ASAP to get my mind around the new edition.

(Tips the nod to old sparring partners Hassan & psionichamster)

Dotting for interest also -have a previous PC (Half Orc Paladin of Sarenrae) from a CotCT game I'd love to resurrect/convert to 2E).

Like Jared/Hassan would be interested to see how concepts translate over to new edition.

Can guarantee when the rules launch and so does the recruitment proper it'll be a popular one :)

Dark Archive

I'd be interested. I like a nice fast-paced game.

Too kind... Good to see you too, Sir!

Wouldn't mind backing you up with an Orc Hornbow and some Gravity Bow.

Let's beat the rush and beat some baddies!

Sovereign Court

I'd definitely be interested. I've had an idea for a paladin that could work for CotCT.

Personally, I think it could be better to wait a bit rather than everyone rushing to understand the new rules and rebuild.

Interested!! Prefer to wait for the new rules (because of a busy summer more than anything else).

I'm not totally sure but the presence of the Orc Hornbow in PF2 may cause me to immediately reconsider ever playing or running PF2 :-(.

Orc Hornbow AND Gravity bow in the initial Core would almost certainly push me over the edge. One thing that I'm hoping is that it will at least take a couple of years before Power Creep becomes an issue. No smiley.

I didn't even know about that weapon until about two weeks ago. I do try to be effective, but typically prefer RP over OP.

No time like the present! Let's do this thing!

I love this AP so I’d be interested if you start it up!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

I would definitely be interested. Probably some type of full caster with a martial multiclass.

I am interested, Love this AP. would very much prefer waiting until the full rules are released

Grand Lodge

I am also interested. The first conversations of the post-playtest rules seem quite good. I will keep an eye on the tread.

I’m extremely interested but I’d like to wait till the rules come out. I’d play a fighter of some type
