SFS Unofficial Official Assassins

Starfinder Society

*

Do we have any? My primary SFS character has been, as far as I know, the only one who's profession is assassin. If there is an official group, it would be nice to know. If not, I guess I can keep calling myself the Society's unofficial official assassin.

Or would that be presumptuous of the outlaw ghost operative with silenced/flash suppressed/scoped weapons?

To my knowledge, the Society does not. Two reasons likely why not:

They're still recovering from the Scoured Stars incident.

They're really actually a "good" organization*

*Factions being separate entities and whatnot.

If I were to wager a guess, it would be the Acquisitive since one of the scenarios post 1-99 is "off the books".

Turns the flower to speak directly into the petals

"Why no. The. society. would. never. have such. a thing. "

Writes down "Sounds like a covert group of exoguardians" then eats the note

"None that I know of. That sounds terrible!"
Says a half-ork janitor at the Lorespire Complex.
"Back on Compton, we has to deal with poachers and thieves, but never assassins. Same here at the society."
Sharp eyes might notice that one of the "brooms" on his janitorial cart is probably a sniper rifle, and if you have knowledge of chemical interaction, several of the "cleaning" products on the cart are very suspicious.

I would agree with Nefreet. The society definitely would not have assassins as they don't really approach things in that way. Now, a SWAT or SpecOps team is definitely more along the lines. Though Spec Ops and assassins are similar, there is a distinct difference.

I am not aware of any mission thus far that was an assassination mission. Maybe 2 or 3, but you'd have to look at them at a particular angle.

There has been the occasional mission that's a bit more ruthless than usual. In one of them Naiaj basically says "normally we don't do this, but this is so important, we're going to have to do some orbital bombing so you guys have enough covering fire for your mission".

It's a bit like in PFS where at some point you hear "normally we don't do this, but this is a kill order for Thurl, because he's been so extraordinarily bad".

I wouldn't be surprised to hear Jadnura authorizing some wetwork, too. He's already done at least one "off the books" project since his return; and I would totally believe him crossing some lines of what the Society does or does not do if he felt it would help him atone for that whole Scoured Stars mess-up.

"I mean "assassin" isn't really something that's possible long term while maintaining a presence that Society HR approves of. If your "day job" is "I kill people for credits" you eventually carry that moral stain with you for good. That's not good for the PR spin for any of the factions of the Society as a whole y'know?

That said, I do know a solid Mercenary unit or two. I've seen some people run under the Exo-G symbol as rough riders more or less, and I run a group who the Aquisitives optioned their contracts from temporary security work to full time employment post Scoured Stars."

This reminds me of a conversation I had recently. I said " if you are known for being an assassin, you are bad at your job."

I've always been partial to "troubleshooter" :D

As in "Where is the trouble, so I can shoot it, until it stops being trouble?"

Why yes, I am a member of the Acquisitives. And in character, Moira just tells people to not ask about the occasional weird hair colors and the "not at the Lorespire Complex" days.

So, my character is leading a Merc crew atm where everyone has a Day job too.

I'm the wheelman/pilot and I have profession Chauffeur.
One of our soldiers has a love of flamethrowers and he's a Line Cook.
Etc etc.

Similar but I guess Merc is more open ended than "Assassin" :P

Bit of a necro, but how is your operative using silenced weapons? I assume sniper rifles, but you're losing out on small arm trick attacks

I have the Silencer/Flash Suppressor combo on my Coil Rifle and use a heavy bipod. -2 total on full attacks and full weapon specialization.

I'm fond of the term 'plumber'.

After playing Tier 3-4 of the Special last night at Origins I might need to come up with a new nickname for this, maybe "Roadkill".

(Ran over 4 Jinsul with my police cruiser at once :P )

Oh man. Now I know which character I need to play that with.
