Deciding on a backup character

Advice

So ive been playing a campaign for like 6 or 7 months, and ive lost two characters, and im on my third, and my third is a squishy old man arcanist who could die very easily, amd where in a dungeon that been giving us some trouble, and i need to have.fourth up and ready to go. so i have two characters in mind for a back up and id like help deciding between the two, the two are a orc armored hulk barbarian and a dhampir noble slayer. If you have questions on the builds feel free to ask but id like to see what other people would pick

Also i should say we just leveled up to level 7

Silver Crusade

@OP: Can you tell us a bit about your team? What's the situation? It's a safe bet that what other people would pick will often strongly depend upon your team. E.g. Can anyone else on your team handle Battlefield Control, should your arcanist die? Do you care whether your team is effective, or do you mostly care about something else?

If you care about keeping your team effective, perhaps consider your choice from the perspective of The Forge of Combat, where Sun Tzu meets Pathfinder. Perhaps you're not interested in optimizing your team and I'm overthinking it. You tell us.

Between a Barbarian or a Slayer, I would go with the Slayer.

But I would also build what the party needs in this situation. Unless the party is large enough to have everything covered, and it literally doesn't matter what you build.

i'd build both. that way you'd have a backup to your backup. as you advance in level, advance the backup, too.

So the team consists of a half orc

mythic heroe rank 1 cleric of rovagaug, a dwarven mythic heroe rank ranger, and elven rogue with a pseudo dragon, a wyvran druid, gunslinger multiclass pc, my gnome arcanist, and from time to time a lizardfolk magus. As far as optimizong my team, ill put it to you this way of i asked them what i should build they would tell me to pick the one i wanted to play the most so optimizimg isnt a high priority.

Ive built both of them i just wanted peoples opinion On what they thought i should play

Since dying seems to be a common theme here, consider being a paladin, for, uh, reasons. Four levels of that leave you three in whatever else you want.
