The manor is the place to drop the knife, right?
Then pick up demon tracks.
North to find the lost live and the ring.
Back to Cassomir to turn stuff in

I'm picking up some anxiety about our situation, here. The only person I'm seeing in significant danger is ma boi Urzy. Everyone else seems to be doing... pretty great, actually?
So between fever brain and never having played this high level before: what am I missing?

This thing has DR and none of us are built for ranged combat. Most physical attacks have a decent chance of doing zero-to-low damage.
If it can keep level draining from the skies then there isn’t much we can do. Things like ability drain and level drain can be more dangerous at high-levels than straight hit point damage.
In all three rounds so far, it has been far more effective on its own than our entire party has been together.
So, yeah, that.

So this brings up a question. Urzaia will be a 7th level caster when we level up with access to 3ed level spells. Restoration is a 4th level spell. That said divine scrolls in PFS are based on Cerics, meaning CL 7 for a 4th level spell. Does this mean he would auto succeed on activating the scroll?
Correct type (Divine)
On class spell list
High enough ability score
Caster level equal or greater than the scroll's

![]() |

Correct Urzaia, you would be able to cast Restoration without difficulty.
I believe in you guys, this is basically a puzzle just waiting to be solved! :D
The usual tactics of beat-up won't work here, sure, but there are other means you can defeat a flying boss fight.

Ouch, hope Mivvy or Fen can get a sense of things

No day job here

Mivvy, Urzaia, and Keene chronicles uploaded here.
This one was certainly a lot, but I had fun with it. :) Glad I could run it for all of you.

I think you meant Kasumi, not Mivvy, there.

Thanks for the games.
Are we hunting up a new GM so Worg can play for a change?

![]() |

You should be level 7.
1 Gallows ->2
2 Gallows ->3
3 Gallows ->4
4 Gallows ->5
5 Bitter Manor ->6
6 Bitter Manor ->7
My level 8 character was level 6 when I started GMing this. I am still deciding if I want to have him commit to 2 levels of alchemist or go with 2 more levels of opportunist.

Any thoughts on what to request? A specific module or scenario

![]() |

I'm not sure what feat to take next.
My current shortlist is
weapon spec. for +2 damage
combat reflexes for extra AoO and parry
extra panache to go from 4 to 6 a day

![]() |

Thanks so much for running! That was indeed epic!
Profession (Researcher): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

![]() |

Take [placeholder] and retrain to Improved Critical at level 8.
Also, make sure you grab Answering for your rapier with all that sweet gold. It's a swashbuckler's best friend.

![]() |

I get free improved critical now, just for being a swashbuckler.
I'm not convinced about anything that relies on panache, really. I only have a small supply and am not lethal enough to guarantee lots of kills. Maybe that will change now I have a 15-20 crit range?
I was thinking of investing in this little pile:
plume of panache 1000
upgrade cloak +3000
pale green prism cracked 4000
talisman of life's breath 3500
globe of moonlight 700gp
Then at level 8 I would add +1 to strength (to get 13) and retrain piranha strike to power attack.
My next investment, I was thinking of a bane baldric and then upgrade my sword after that.
I still need to get an amulet of natural armour too but my fort and will saves stink, even having used both of my traits to get +1 to each.
I might want to make my belt a dex/con belt soon too, for hit points and saves.

To be completely honest...
I've been thinking about taking a break from Kasumi.
She's high-level enough at this point that I don't know what I'm doing at any given point, and my knowledge when it comes to how to level her is VERY shallow. I'd prefer to come back to her when I've had the chance to get a few other PCs up to a similar level so that I'm more familiar with what I need to be worried about at this point, what the options are for purchases, etc.

![]() |

Sorcerers are hard, every option feels like it might be a trap.
Rangers are a good learning class: play around with casting and familiars but, in the end, you can always hit it with a big sword!

![]() |

@Kasumi Generally, for my spellcasters, I go through Archives of Nethys spell lists to find spells that sound appropriate for my characters.
With Oracle and Sorcerer having the restrictive spell list, I can entirely understand the concern of falling off effectiveness.

![]() |

See, it's not that I think Kasumi wouldn't be effective. It's more that I know at a certain point, fights start getting brutal and my lack of knowledge about the system is going to catch up to me at some point.
"The creature attacks Kasumi, and... wait, Kasumi, I'm checking your character sheet, and it looks like you don't have a Chalice of +1 Taco Flavored Tortilla Chips?"
"...Kasumi, did you not buy one?"
"We ALL have Chalices of +1 Taco Flavored Tortilla Chips. It's so obvious, I just assumed you knew!"
Meanwhile Kasumi is a smoldering pile of ash because I didn't think to drop 50gp on an item I didn't know would be so important at these levels, and was rocked by the Dorito Wizard's Xtreme Nacho Cheese Blast.
...I'm feelin' snackish.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

This feels like one of those cases of a min-maxer asking why you didn't min-max your character. Personally, I find the Chalice of +1 Taco Flavored Tortilla Chips to be an overpowered gimmick that works only in situations where enough sour cream is available to active its effect.
If you want, I can look more indepth at Kasumi and tell you things you can consider. I have a wide variety of spellcasters.
11 Warlock, 10 Psychic, 5 Wizard/1 Fighter going into Eldritch Knight, 11 Druid, 13 Oracle, 4 Cleric/1 Oracle/1 Holy Vindicator, etc..
I wouldn't force you to make any character making decision, just get you the few things that if you go into a group and you happen to have it, you will be covered very well.
Ulitmately, we still love you regardless Vixie. <3

![]() |

Aww, thanks :3
I certainly wouldn't mind a looking-over! I actually already put some level-up notes (ostensibly for myself, but they're good for anyone else to keep in mind) at the top of Kasumi's profile. I think you know Kasumi well enough by now to have an idea of the type of spells and equipment she'd especially be interested in :P
Having lived in a house with someone who yelled at me for daring to propose a Goblin Sorcerer (because of the -2 Charisma), informed me that as a GM he would insist on killing my PC ASAP if I took the Rich Parents trait (to get her gunslinging off the ground early), etc., I have a few... hangups... about how I build my characters now.
I mostly try to throw it out the window, but...
Y'know. Stuff sticks.

In about a month, after wrapping up my current games, I'm thinking of running Feast of Ravenmoor, if anyone will have a level 3 character looking for a game then?
