Behold my friends, the monkey grip barbarian

Creating a Character

Behold my friends, the monkey grip barbarian.
I haven't gotten the chance to play as a PC in playtest yet, so I've had a lot of opportunities to make builds. I think this is my favorite so far. Unfortunately it doesn't really come online until level 4 due to the required multiclass archetype but thats ok. So the first thing we're gonna do is make a giant totem barbarian. This allows them to wield large sized weapons and double their rage bonus damage with them. Not spectacular, but interesting. 2nd level, we pick up ranger dedication. That's not gonna really pay off early game, hunt target would suck up valuable actions anyhow. At some point in this you're gonna want to pick up hefty hauler, 2 large weapons are HEAVY. Now we'll skip to level 4. Grab that sweet hunter trick known as twin takedown. This will finally make you the over-sized weapon dual wielder that you always wanted to be. For my character, weapons of choice are battle axe main and a morning star. I'm a sucker for damage versatility. Thoughts? Improvements? lemme know.

I think you meant level 6.

You can only use Hunt Target once per day until level 6 (and taking the Targeted Hunter archetype feat) which severely restricts how many foes you can use Twin Takedown on (cough, one).

Aw, right you are. Guess fighter arche is the way to go then. Good catch.

Are you sure you are allowed to duel wield large weapons. The Titan Mauler keeps saying weapon singular. I don't think it should be limited, but it's curious that the ability keeps only saying weapon.

Btw I think Barbarian really should be getting extra conditional damage from increasing in size like your normally would from Enlarge, which would be even more awesome damage to your massive weapons.

In terms of weapon it could be cool to go Gnome Barbarian and attacking with Gnome Flickmaces but the str disadvantages might be costly.

I tend to think that a sub-optimal build that's a cool idea is legal until proven otherwise. On the subject of gnomes, I dislike that all gnome weapons rely on their weakest stat. Why do you make these things gnomes?

The lack of synergy, Gnome Flickmaces, Halfling Slingstaves, etc bugs me.
