What does channel positive / negative energy actually look like when used?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I picture positive looking like a flash of white light with a slight golden tint, and negative looking like a black cloud that only appears for a second or so.

I always pictured a ripple of light or dark energy radiating outwards from the caster. Like a water droplet causing ripples in a 30' ring. When the positive energy touches someone, it surrounds the person with a warm glow with light streaks moving upwards for a moment, either healing or hurting them. When negative energy touches someone, it surrounds them with a dark gray light with black streaks moving upwards. Now that I think about it, the effect looks like healing in a JRPG game. I think that Pathfinder Kingmaker did a pretty good job with some of the AOE spell effects.

Silver Crusade

Positive heal: everyone gasps a breath and has a second wind.

Negative damage: everyone is like Luke Skywalker being electrocuted at the end of VI, only without the blue lightning.

Positive damage: everything melts like the faces at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark

Negative heal: black mists pour from eyes and mouths and fills in various wounds.

These seem to my imagination the correct description. But that is me.

What if you use positive damage to hurt a skeleton (which doesn't have a face)? I'm thinking it's skull just sort of caves in?

Sovereign Court

Positive damaging undead I picture yellow electricity running over them and some convulsions from pain.

The holy symbol glows brightly and a flash of *deity's favorite colour here* radiates out in a swift burst.

I pondered something more on-theme for the god who was providing the channeling ability.

White sparkles for positive, dark static that seems to draw in light rather than create it for negative.

I have always gone with living creatures feeling good when someone channels positive energy and feeling some degree of pain and loss of energy when someone channels negative energy.

@Set: Your post is awesome. I am wondering what would the channeling (positive) of an Arshea worshipper look like?
