Dragon Sorcerer Dragon Claw Feature Damage Dice

Classes

Hi!

Is there an official clarification yet, how the "adding a damage die" when Heightening with the Dragon Claws Feature is supposed to work? Is it +1d4 or +2d4 ?

Due to the wording of "They deal 1d4... and 1d4..." I would say it's +2d4 (that's how it was for 5e with the Greatsword which had a damage die of 2d6, but not sure if in Pathfinder this is also how things are usually done...), but I am not sure.

Also as on the heighten to 5th there is only mentioned "The Claws count as +2" while on 3rd also the additional Damage die is mentioned, do you get the additional damage die with every heighten or only once ? (So is at 5th +4d4 dmg, or is it +2d4 dmg... ?)

Thanks.

Best regards,
MagicSN

It's +1d4 per +1 Potency on the claws. It's a tad confusing because of the extra energy damage but it's +1d4. I think this is actually why Paizo changed any 2d6 weapons from PF1 to 1d12, exactly because it would cause this kind of confusion. But I think the 1d4 energy on the claws is like a property rune (like holy, flaming, etc.) or something similar where it's an extra damage die not multiplied by potency.

Yeah, I guess also with +2d4 the Sorcerer's Damage would scale a bit too well, when the Sorcerer can also do a spell (or Dragon Breath) after the strike.
I like the 2d6 great weapon to 1d12 change btw, in 5e where this is not the case the great sword is always 0.5 avg dmg better than great axe and in PF2 they are the same ^^

Note that with recent playing I changed my mind. I think +1d4 it would scale too badly. Also compare with the Wild Druids feature who got +1d6 and got also heals... I suspect the intention is for the Sorc to have +2d4. At least that's how my group plays it now, also.
