Mechanic Multi-Class. If a character starts out as a Mechanic (AI Exo) and after a few levels (say 5) wants to Multi Class. Can he take Mechanic with the Drone AI
so the character would be Mechanic (Exo) 5/Mechanic (Drone) 1.

Not sure anyone would really want to but would it be allowed?

Nope, Mechanic is the class, so you pick one and that's that.

You could probably work out a way with your GM to go from Mechanic (Exo) 5 to Mechanic (Drone) 6, but that would be house rules.

Nope, you can't multicast in the way described. At best you can retrain and make better life decisions for yourself.

Splitting levels between drone and exocortex is an ability mechanics gain at level 17.

A mechanic is a mechanic, you can't be a Mechanic 3/Mechanic 5 anymore than you can be a Soldier 4/Soldier 2. Multiclassing requires you to take different classes, not the same one.

( . . . I do kind of imagine that, if people are still playing Starfinder 20 years from now, "Mechanic should have been two classes" will be one of the ongoing angry controversies. . . )
