Say you have a vertical Leap of 12 ft. (+3 base +9 from Powerful Leap, Crane Stance and Dancing Leaf).
Since you take damage if you fall more than 5 ft., does that mean that jumping straight up 12 ft. that you take 6 damage upon landing along with being knocked prone?

Well (ignoring how insane it is that someone could pull off a 12 foot vertical leap and not be literally The Hulk) according to the text box on page 145,
FALLING
When you jump or fall more than 5 feet, upon landing you
take falling damage, which is bludgeoning damage equal to
half the distance you fell.
The actual falling rules on page 310 don't mention jumping though, so I think this one might be in need of a little clarification.

If you have strength in your muscles and tendons to produce the force needed for vertical jump of 12ft the your muscles and tendons ARE strong enough to absorb energy from the fall from same height as it is more or less same amount of energy.
Now if you tumble in the air and fall on back or head you would suffer falling damage as normal.

The sidebar on pg. 145 says:
"When you jump or fall more than 5 feet, upon landing you
take falling damage, which is bludgeoning damage equal to
half the distance you fell. If you take any damage from a fall,
you’re knocked prone when you land." (emphasis mine)
Which is even more confusing as it doesn't state anything about the jump being down. It also makes me think that they started with jump rules and removed it, but missed making the edit here.

There clearly needs to be an exception in the rules where you subtract the distance you could jump from the distance you fell before starting to count distance for damage.
It would also be nice to be able to make an Acrobatics check to reduce damage, rather than the only three ways to reduce falling damage being a monk feat, Cat Fall and Feather Fall. :p
