Wild shaped using a metamagic rod

Advice

How would a wild shaped druid go about using a metamagic rod of Dazing while in his wild shape form? A form such as a hippo for example, not an ape.

Polymorphic Pouch would get the item within reach at least, whatever that means for a hippo. Using a rod would be trickier though, I think you'd just have to ask your GM.

I am the GM lol

I don't have a cite, but I'm pretty sure "holding" in PF means "in a prehensile appendage such as a hand" and excludes "in your mouth." That being the case, I wouldn't allow the hippo to use a rod at all, any more than they could use a sword.

I would agree with that Fuzzy. If the PC would like to use it with a tentacle I would probably rule yes, what do you think?

I also agree with Fuzzy. Some forms just don't allow certain things.

If it's a prehensile tentacle, capable of grasping and using a sword, then sure.

I'm just imagining a t-rex holding the metamagic rod in its teeny little arms.

Grand Lodge

<--- imagines an Allosaurus trying to activate a wand.
*laughs as Allosaurus drops wand, and stares at the controlling PC.

>insert Robinson's meme<

This. Though I'd argue that going by the above-quoted text, prehensile enough to hold it without being able to actually wield a weapon is enough. That would allow, e.g., a vanara to use a metamagic rod with her tail.

Whether a tentacle is prehensile enough to hold an item is pretty much gonna be your fiat.

Good point. Ya I figure a tentacle is used to 'Grab' opponents and IRL tentacles have been known to open jars as seen on YouTube, that's good enough for me.
