Hi, everyone. I'm brazilian and new to Pathfinder.
First of all... I loved the system of Pathfinder sooo much! (Sorry for my bad english.. if I make mistakes)
Okay! I'm learning from all books (Core Rolebook, Advanced Guide, Race, Combat...) and I want to create a Pirate!
First of all.. again:
My RPG scenario: We are mercenarys. The king in this scenario offer a bounty for killing a creature: A Kraken (Magic Beast)
We'll beginning the RPG as level 1 and armoring and leveling up, until kill that creature in the end.
So! I made this guy over here:
John Silver, Skirmisher Ranger 1 (Human), CN
Str 16, Dex 13, Con 12, Int 14, Sab 12, Cha 13 (20 points)
Traits: Tradicional Human Traits
Bonus Traits: Courageous and Natural-Born Leader
HP: 12
Skill Ranks (10): Craft (Wood) +6, Heal +5, Intimidate +5, Knowledge (Geography and Nature) +6, Perception +5, Profession (sailor) +5, Stealth +4, Survival +5, and Swim +4
Favored Enemy: Magic Beast +2
Weapons: Scimitar, Shortsword, Dagger and Composite LongBow
Armor: Studded Leather
Feats: Fast Leaner (Human) and Step Up
So... He's a Pirate. Melee build to use Two Weapons with help from Combat Style Feat and trick Ranger.
The initial idea is build (later on) a Ranger with:
Hunter’s Bond: Hunting Companions
Leadership (Cohort and Followers)
Diehard
Favored Enemy: Magic Beast +10
Two-Weapon Fighting, Double Slice (Combat Style)
Favored Terrain (Water)
That's the first idea.
I'm came here for you guys, see another ways to see a Pirate.
If I make any mistakes on this sheet or have any doubts about, you guys can help too!
You can change everything. Just think in the concept to be a Pirate.
Can you guys help me out?
Thanks a lot!

If you're looking for a more swashbuckling cutlass wielding, parrot owning scallywag. I'd look at the actual Buccaneer archetype. I believe it's for Gunslinger, if the class is allowed it emphasizes more of the Pirate aspects of things, including getting Grit (Your class resource), from drinking alcoholic beverages.
If your're more for the Jack Sparrow kind of Pirate I'd look at Swashbuckler itself, it's a very melee focused class and you can take a feat to get firearm proficiency so you can carry around a brace of pistols with which to dispatch your foe. I'd look to see if a saber is a weapon Swashbuckler can use, or the cutlass.

Hi, MER-c! Thanks for helping!
I'm seeing Swash and Gunslinger right now. And seems pretty good!
I prefer Swash than Gunslinger. And Jack Sparrow was a good start to think in a pirate concept. But not the only one.
How do build this Swash?

Honestly that is not really advice I can give you. Characters are very personal things for me, not numbers, I look at class as a summary of the skills they learned to survive, more than just a profession a class is the life path the character has taken.
So really just jump into the class and determine what you need based on your character.
The PRD is a great resource and will have most core features.

For the quintessential pirate, I propose the following:
Human, male
1. Swashbuckler, Picaroon
.. Panache (piercing weapons and pistols)
.. Deeds: derring-do, dodging panache, melee shooter
.. Two Weapon Finesse (piercing weapons and pistols)
2. - 10. Gunslinger, Buccaneer
.. Grit (Charisma based)
.. Deeds: Seadog's Gait, Pirate's Jargon, Rope Swing, Captain's Curse
.. Liquid Courage (drink alcohol for temporary grit points)
.. Familiar: monkey or parrot
.. Sword and Pistol feat
11. - 20. Vigilante, Gunmaster -OR- Alchemist, Gunchemist -OR- just continue with Buccaneer.
................................
The melee shooter Swashbuckler deed will hold you over until you get the sword and pistol feat from the Gunslinger...
Melee Shooter (Ex): At 1st level, as a swift action when wielding both a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon and a one-handed firearm, the picaroon can spend 1 panache point to avoid provoking attacks of opportunity with the first ranged attack made by the one-handed firearm during her turn. This deed replaces opportune parry and riposte.
................................
At 9th level, a buccaneer gains Sword and Pistol as a bonus feat even if she does not meet the prerequisites.
This ability replaces gun training 2.
Sword and Pistol (Combat):
Prerequisite: Dex 13, Point-Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Snap Shot, Two-Weapon Fighting, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: When you use the Two-Weapon Fighting feat while wielding a melee weapon and a crossbow or firearm, your attacks with the crossbow or firearm provoke no attacks of opportunity from foes that you threaten with your melee weapon.
Normal: Making a ranged attack provokes attacks of opportunity.
...................................
Two Weapon Finesse, from the Swashbuckler, is quite legitimate for a build like this...
Two-Weapon Finesse (Ex)
A picaroon gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons. She also gains the effects of the Two-Weapon Fighting feat as long as she is wielding a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon in one hand and one-handed firearm in the other hand. This ability counts as having both the Weapon Finesse and Two-Weapon Fighting feats for the purposes of meeting feat requirements.
This ability replaces swashbuckler finesse.

The Sideromancer |
Ye be missin' the most important part o' gunfightin': reloadin' yer pistol. Sure, ol' Teach used to carry a dozen of 'em, all loaded, but you might want to enjoy some o' that gold instead o' spendin' it all on guns. I meself took some trainin' in the performance arts, but I've also seen some bilge rats who give 'emselves a third arm instead.

Then you're out 5000gp compared to somebody with only one, 6 500 if masterwork, 16 500 if +1, or 46 500 if +2, nearly the cost of a single +5 weapon. (+3 is 96 500, not that you'll ever have enough budget for that. +4 is 166 500, +5 is 256 500, over the cost of a +10 equivalent)
For sure. They are super expensive. Just use whatever you start with or find until you can get a revolver. Then it's game over, man, game over.
I'm not even a big fan of guns in my dungeons and dragons, but when it comes to pirates the Picaroon1/Buccaneer9/Gunmaster10 -OR- the Picaroon1/Buccaneer9/Gunchemist10 both make such perfect sense to me.

Haywire build generator |

Right, pirates, not generic gun-users. What do I have for pirates...
Gunslinger 5/Alchemist 2/ranger 3 using the Vestigial Arm discovery to dual-wield
Drunken Master Sensei Quiggong monk letting everybody hadoken
White-haired Witch 1/fighter 9 specialized in beard punching
Kindness Id rager aid another build
(one of the two aquatic archetypes) Hunter with an Augmented archetype squid
Inspired Blade Swash 1/Slayer 3/Snakebite Striker Brawler 1/Inner Sea Pirate 5 with familiar feats and a mauler archeopterix (the exotic bird (?) best at combat)
forensic physician investigator
Cleric of Cayden (captain of the ship in question)

VoodistMonk |

8 levels of Vivisectionist Alchemist and 12 levels of Kraken Caller Druid. You start as a four armed Kasatha and take the Vestigial Arm Discovery twice, for 6 arms. Then you take the Wings Discovery. Once you get into Kraken Caller, you grow two tentacles your 4th druid level, another at your 6th, and 8th, and 10th, and 12th... for a total 6 arms and 6 tentacles and 2 wings.
Take all the grapple feats, including adding your sneak attack damage to the grapple.
Grapple the Kraken. Beat it at its own game.
PS. Despite the hilarious abundance of appendages, the lack of BAB/CMB, lack of extra feats, and MAD nature of the above build makes it extremely unlikely to beat the Kraken at its own game.
