Class sugestions wanted!

Advice

So, I recently made a thread asking about advice for a cavalier, But I came to realise we realy dont need another melee character.. So I started thinking of what we have and what we need.. We have a Investigator who uses a magical crossbow but is primarily our party brains, We have a melee rogue (Who is after this storyline changing to a melee fighter), A melee monk, A melee Ranger and A melee magus.

So I came to the conclusion that what we lack is a full caster, A healer (Though the investigator has cure infusions and we have two wands of cure light wounds) and a ranged attacker.. So I came to ask for sugestions of what classes might be good to add..

Perhaps Life Oracle? Charisma based, so you'll have people with each mental state, full caster with channel energy. Not great on the offense side of things, but with that many martials, you should be fine. Ranged attackers aren't THAT necessary.

Personally id say play what you want.

Cleric or oracle/warpriest/paladin or whichever other "healer" class you can think of is nice, but out of combat healing is where most of the healing will happen.

In that party I would probably roll a dwarven cleric... Because I like dwarves, and a cleric could solve the spell/healing problem. Id still wade into Melee as much as possible and smack for Torag! :)

My suggestion is: stay away from healer and instead be a melee-er that lets all the other melee people work even better. Like a bard (buffs are nice), or a cavalier with much tactical feat options.

Healing is where you guys go to town and visit temple; or invest in some cure light wands. Or just sleep it off.

Remember, the best defense is a good offense ;)

My party keeps telling me to stop thinking so much about it and just play what I want to play.. But I want to be useful to the party.. xD I like dwarves too, But havent played one yet.. My favorite class is the Alchemist (Currently playing one) But I'd like to try a martial class with no spells again sometime too.. And I keep changing my mind so my alchemist has a bit of build whiplash..

Melee is pretty crowded. Some sort of caster or archer perhaps? One of my favourite characters was an archer cleric with the feather domain for a full progression animal companion. You could easily go with a different domain though since you don't really need an AC in that group. Evangelist with the heroism domain would be great for buffing all those melee guys and the loss of channeling, which is the only thing I don't like about that archetype, doesn't seem like it will hurt you since you're doing fine without it now.

I don't agree with all the healing naysayers--there's plenty of times my group would have been utterly hooped without in combat healing. That said, I would not suggest making it your focus. Be sure that you can contribute in ways other than only healing, like buffing, controlling or plinking away with your bow, all of which is easy to do without compromising your healing ability much at all.

Some of the most fun I've ever had was role playing a dwarven fighter.

I developed this Class guide (Character Class Roles) several years ago in order to help a group of new players figure out what they wanted to play.

I don't think I go over anything other than the classes from the CRB and the APG. But it should at least give you a starting point.

It sounds to me like you need a healer, but I would suggest looking over the guide and figuring out where the holes in the group actually are. It's possible that the investigator already has the healing role covered sufficiently.

I enjoy healing and we have had a couple of times where in combat healing has been the only thing keeping a character from dying (And we lost two characters in combat due to lack of healing)

Maybe I could try fixing my Alchemist.. My alchemist was built mostly for range and a bit of healing, And then I saw the Master Chymist Prestigue Class and went "Dang, That looks like super fun!" and did a 180 from range into melee with Master Chymist.. Only got 1 level in Master Chymist so maybe.. With going back to alchemist, And taking a few Extra Discovery feats, I could go into diferent types of bombs and stuff..

Also, Thanks for the guide LordKalias!
