[PFS] Feysworn build options.

Advice

Grand Lodge

Greetings all, with my last build- Mute Musician Bard w/Familiar thread getting no help, I'm sending the call for any potential builds encompassing the Feysworn prestige class.
Of all my PFS characters, I haven't delved into a Prestige class.

My Mute Musician build had a lot of feats eaten up so he could get an Improved Familiar, but delving into the prestige class would hamper his Bard progression.

So, the easiest route is Wizard. I still like the potential idea of getting an Improved familiar, and going Familiar Adept or Pact Wizard archetypes are interesting directions.
Though, it would be interesting to see a Paladin go into Feysworn. I had an idea for a Tortured Crusader, and going Feysworn would be entertaining- roleplaying it as one of the Eldest saved him, thus the prestige class.

That said, give me ideas for builds using the Feysworn prestige class. Let's brainstorm.

Alien mind could be useful to a paladin, but the prestige class as a whole looks to be more suited to a full spellcaster. A paladin would lose full BAB and various important class features which scale with level. A wizard or cleric loses one level of spellcasting which they can get back with a couple of feats, and advancement of domains or school abilities, plus channeling increase - whatever - and a wizard bonus feat.

Imagine a chronomancer wizard sworn to Shyka. The archetype's mentioned in connection with her, it's a natural progression. You miss out on the 10th level ability of the chronomancer but the good stuff is the 1st and 5th level abilities anyway.

Or an ambitious transmuter wizard who seeks out the Lantern King. Polymorph any object at character level 11 is not to be sneezed at even if it's at the end of PFS.

The question becomes, when do i proceed into the Prestige class? Fey Obedience requires K(Planes) 3, the prestige requires K(Planes 5) so at earliest lvl 5.

What about Arcanist? sure we miss out on a few Exploits and maximizing our Arcane Pool, but that's almost moot.

If you like the casting method of the arcanist better than that of the wizard it's possible, but all those exploits are the strength of the arcanist. The wizard has that half-spell level over the arcanist which the exploits make up for - without the exploits the comparison looks worse.

It's actually available at earliest level 6, because you need to already have 5 ranks to be able to take a level in the prestige class. Unfortunately you choose your class before your skill points when you "level up".

So, i had a plan to make a Wayang Harrowed Society Student Arcanist. so, i plan to discard that build, and build this as a Wayang Chronomancer/Feysworn. I don't plan on going any "shadow magic" centric spells except for maybe Shadow Conjurations.

Stats-
10 Str/15 Dex/13 Con/17 Int/10 Wis/14 Cha

probably a mix of control and blasting. Trade out Shadow Magic for Shadow Speaker, a +2 bonus is better than some cantrips.

is it worth it to grab Magical Knack at lvl 1 or grab it later, at 7th via Extra Traits when it's more relevant?

So, bringing this build back from the dead; got a boon at PaizoCon that allows me to create a 2nd lvl character. so, either it's the Feysworn build or the Barmaid Brawler build.

So, i like the idea of Wayang who believes that her kind were once gnomes from the First World, and were somehow trapped in the Plane of Shadows and eventually adapted.

I'm looking for recommendations of Schools and would it be worthwhile to invest in Arcane Discovery feats, like Destructive Creativity, if i'm not focusing on a specific school?

Looking at the boons granted by the various Eldest, Magdh seems like hers is the most useful, with a +4 to all Intelligence-based skills. While this may seem best suited to an Intelligence-based class, I actually had a different idea.

Gnome Lore Oracle. Lore Keeper lets you use Charisma instead of Intelligence for Knowledge-checks, but the Boon bonus should still apply. Sidestep Secret on top of being small would give you solid AC and Reflex saves, aided further by Magdh's second boon. Alien Mind would boost AC, Reflex, and spell DCs. Pick up the Irrepressible trait and you're using Charisma to Will against charms and compulsions. Play an older gnome and take Breadth of Experience for a further +2 to Knowledge skills. Take the Magical Linguist alternate racial trait to get the most out of Spontaneous Symbology.

And what does the build do? i am not seeing a reason for such a build; let alone build toward an 11th lvl ability.

I really dislike characters who dump so much into being walking archives.

High Knowledge skills, strong thematic consistency, synergy between class and prestige class abilities, high defenses, 9th level casting. Magdh is one of the easier and more effective Eldest to build around. It's not really building towards a specific high level ability, but rather it remains effective at its role throughout the entirety of the characters lifespan.
