No More Shifter Support?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

With the addition of the 2e Pathfinder playtest, does that mean that we will not be getting any further Shifter archetypes?

And as a small side-question, considering the Shifter's wildshape system had a major revision with hour shifting periods, should certain archetypes, such as the Fiendflesh Shifter, that only get a few minutes of shifting per day in their specific, not get updated too?

My guess is that the patches we got to the Shifter and oozemorph are all we're going to get. I wouldn't be surprised if Pathfinder 2e and Starfinder supersede any significant support for the shifter.

There's still plenty of good content coming down the pipeline, and that includes some new stuff for shifters.

Thank you for the update John. That's good to hear! I've posted questions like this in other threads but had not heard anything.

Not likely....going foreword is going to be more focused on 2E rather than fixing 1E.

Some of the new releases may add things (feat's, archetypes, etc) but given it wouldn't take a whole lot to fix the Oozmorph, or Shifter, and it hasn't happened already.....good bet it's not going to.

Anything more than this wouldn't be my secret to spoil, but I'm happy to observe that there's plenty of interest in exploring the shifter's many possibilities.

I'm curious as to what's coming, but I'm also a bit apprehensive due to Ultimate Wilderness.

Well that is good to hear, at least it will get some love before PF1E ends. Though I wish we could get an entire player companion book of nothing but kineticist wild talents.

I know there's 3rd party support in the works too.

Be sure to check out the Book of Heroic Races: Occult Intrigue in the Wilderness. Most of our support for the shifter is racial themed instead of racial exclusive. Like the crow shifter aspect is listed under tengu and the crocodile aspect is listed under lizardfolk.

It also has support for Ultimate Intrigue and Occult Adventures classes.

Interested parties also might check out Legendary Shifters, with support for the core shifter as well as a redesigned shifter alternate class. Several 5-star reviews already!

I picked this up and it is everything that was fun about the third edition Shifter and Master of Many Forms updated for Pathfinder. Fantastic class! I can't wait for my daughter to play one in our RotRl campaign so i can see how it plays.

Maybe it's time to talk with the GM about that. And you don't have to open the flood gates all the way, but adding a few books by a few companies isn't a bad thing. And sure, I'd love it to be my company be the one you let in, but even I can't deny that Legendary Games makes some well designed material.

Actually our DM is going the other direction by limited stuff. So for our next AP we can only pic stuff that was published up to the point that AP came out. Though with the news of Pathfinder 2E might change that.
