Three Actions and a reaction

Prerelease Discussion

Off of the Blog Post I just read, it sounds like we get three actions and one reaction. The reaction sounds like it can be used for certain things (Such as a shield block by the Fighter, which if I understand means that the shield can actually stop damage up to it's hardness and then takes damage itself rather than the Fighter taking damage?).

I'm thinking that Opportunity Attacks will fall under this idea of a reaction.

If so, that would indicate one can only get ONE of these...or is it possible to increase the number of reactions one gets.

In addition, though it states that certain things will cost two actions (as in most spells will cost two actions), wouldn't it be easier just to call it some other type of action in and of itself that costs two of these action points or actions?

It sounds as if one can actually attack up to three times by choosing to use all three actions as an attack. Isn't this basically very similar to the Full Attack option we already have to a degree, or a Full Action?

Does this also mean that we can start off attacking with three attacks at 1st level?

Even if they aren't called the same thing, it still sounds as if we still have the Full-Round Action, the Free action, etc....but they are being called something else which is not as clear cut at times and a little more vague?

On this idea, what other questions do people have related to three actions and a reaction.

Yes, you basically get iteratives at level 1. The second attack is at a -5 penalty, the third attack is at a -10 penalty. If you have a weapon with the "agile" quality then the second attack is at -4 instead of -5 (and presumably the third is at -8 instead of -10?)

I don't know if we know much more than that at this point - I don't they've release info about two-weapon fighting, for instance.

You are correct. The shield is only "dented" if its hardness is overcome.

Verbal and Somatic take actions. For example if you have three different spells with only Verbal components, each requiries only 1 action and all three can be cast that turn. The daily cap on spells seems to be the same.

Well using 3x attack actions can be done at 1st level, with a -5 penalty per attack roll. If you wanted to 5ft step without provoking as well for your full attack, that costs an action.

Also Rumpin Rufus is right about "agile" weapons and their attack penalty.
