Advice on new character, Oracle or Shaman

Advice

Hey all,

So I will soon be playing in a Eberron setting Age of Worms adventure path.

As it is with a new group I thought it best to fall back on a character archetype I enjoy.

I typically play fairly noncombatant Textbook style characters.
I toss a bit of battlefield control in for somthing to do but mostly go with "Guy that knows stuff"

Sometimes this is a Divination school savant Arcanist, Sometimes it is a flavor of bar.
But my favorite by far is a Lore Oracle, either dual cursed or seer.
Both of these Archetypes give you on the fly things to either improve your own rolls (seer) or make others better (Dual cursed).

I have had a lot of success with a dual cursed Loracle 1/Witch X.

In light of that I thought perhaps I should look to the Shaman as it is a Oracle/Witch from the start.

The main thing that makes a lore oracle good is 2 revelations, one adds Cha to AC, the other gives a massive +20 to knowledge checks many times a day.

I cant see where Lore Shaman is actually good at knowing things?

I assume Im missing something?

Any help would be appreciated.

Lore and Ancestor spirits both have hexes that give you Wis for Kn skills instead of int. Ancestors has a better bonus spell list though.

Also look into the Spirit Guide oracle archetype, if you want to play an oracle but have the flavor of a shaman.

Shaman is a really good prepared caster class due to wandering spirit, so you can change up your roles day by day. Pick up Ancestors or Lore as your first spirit and Flame or Battle as a wandering for support/back up dpr, or Life and play a healer.

Having played Age of Worms, I would recommend having some functionality in combat. There were times throughout the entire AP that we needed all hands on deck. I can't speak to the other players in your party, but we had a group of 4 and having a character that shoulder shrugged in combat would have been bad news for us.

Don't get me wrong, knowledge is super useful. I'd just make sure you have a way of contributing, even if you are the "fix it" guy or drop some CC each fight. Piggybackng off of what Syries suggested, wandering spirit should help you be a sort of multitool in addition to being the knowledge guy.
