How does a swashbuckler gain deeds?

Rules Questions

My friend is creating a swashbuckler, and no-one in our group really has any experience with the class. We got to deeds, and seem to have gotten confused.

Do swashbucklers pick the deeds they want at every odd level (1, 3, 5, etc), or do they get them all for free at the appropriate level?

Thank you!

They get all the deeds at the appropriate level!

You gain all the deeds specified by the class (or the archetype) at the appropriate level.

So a 1st level Swashbuckler has the deeds Opportune Parry and Riposte, Derring-Do, and Dodging Panache. At 3rd level you gain Swashbuckler Initiative, Kip-Up, Menacing Swordplay, and Precise Strike, and so on.

If you were a flying blade at first level you would gain Derring-Do, and Opportune Parry and Riposte, but you would gain Subtle Throw in place of Dodging Panache. At third level you would gain Swashbuckler Initiative, Menacing Swordplay, and Precise Strike but would gain Disrupting Counter instead of Kip-Up, and so on.

Deeds: all of them are available at the appropriate level. This is what makes the class worthwhile [even though it seems 90% of the time, you can only have 1 active at a time due to action economy].

Dares: these are the ones that are limited in selection; you can select 1 dare in place of 1 bonus feat at a level divisible by 4.

"A dare can be taken in place of one of the bonus feats a gunslinger or a swashbuckler gains at 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter. A gunslinger or a swashbuckler can choose to have multiple dares, but must pick only one to be active each time she reaches 0 grit points or panache points. Once chosen, the active dare cannot be changed until the gunslinger or swashbuckler reaches 0 grit points or panache points again."
