CN-Cleric of Sobek, positive energy

Advice

Hey folks! Any ideas for a CN Cleric of Sobek, positive energy build?
I'm thinking of something good at both strengthening allies and hitting HARD as Sobek is an osiron God of fertility, strength and battle.
And water, crocodiles, etc

Thx!

Nothing eh?

Patience, grasshopper. 2 hours 24 minutes is not enough for many people to see your post, look up a fairly obscure god & then to write a reply.

The scalykind/saurian subdomain gives you a very nice first level power and at 4th an animal companion selected from among the best options, the dinosaurs. No arguments from the GM about selecting a dinosaur either given that your only options are dinosaurs.

If you take that domain you'll get magic fang (& greater) as domain spells. Which suggests that you might want to look at a natural attack build. Some variety of skinwalker perhaps. Probably not werecroc though, you don't need a wisdom penalty as a cleric.

The strength domain for the enlarge person spell or water/rivers for the free-action increased speed are IMO the next best two domains there.

Variant channeling: strength or battle could be a useful buff sometimes. Not absolutely necessary - clerics get a lot of buffs - but it seems to fit the idea you want.

How much detail do you want? A complete build or just some ideas like this?

This is great! Although I won't turn down more ideas or build basics if you got them,

I think I'm going to go human though as I imagine him an Osirion dude.
The campaign I'm planning on using him for is the Strange Aeons adventure path.
Pretty much I'll let the other players do the investigation aspects while I heal, buff and punch aberrations

Liberty's Edge

I played a battle cleric with a monk dip through Mummy's Mask. He was mostly built as a standard battle cleric. He had the strength domain and the crocodile domain (for the sneak attack).

I'm not sure what kind of advice I could give beyond that.

If you're going human the natural attack build is out then. Which means you want a domain with good low-level spells if you still want scalykind/saurian, which in turn means the strength domain over water/rivers IMO. Though you can still buff your animal companion with magic fang of course it seems less important.

As a build maybe look at a feat layout like this:
1: Combat Reflexes (grab a long spear as well as a close-up weapon to make use of this)
Human: Channeling Variance
3: Power Attack
5: Boon Companion
7: Channeling Force
9: Quicken Spell
11: Reactive Healing

If you find you need more uses of channel energy than you have - battle clerics can be short on stat points - then swap channeling force for extra channel I guess. Or go for a headband which increases charisma over one which increases wisdom, given that battle clerics don't need a lot of wisdom to heal, buff and punch.

1. Selective Channel (and Extra Channel if human, or Combat Reflexes if you're doing a reach build and have a Dex of 12+ or 14+ if you're planning on using enlarge person a lot)
3. Power Attack
5. Versatile Channel or Quicken Channel
7. Quicken Channel or Versatile Channel
9. Quicken Spell
11. Divine Interference or Extra Channel
13. Vital Strike
15. Improved Vital Strike

You can do area heals and harms, ignoring some targets (enemies or allies, depending on what you're channeling), eventually doing so while fighting or casting, and eventually doing so while fighting AND casting, such as a Quickened divine favor or enlarge person (if you have the Strength domain). Use a big 2-handed weapon, using Quicken Channel and a Vital or Greater Vital Strike at higher levels when you're not casting.

What IS Sobek's favorite weapon?

Wis=Str>Cha>Con>Dex>Int

I would almost suggest dumping Int for extra points would make a flavorful choice since reptiles aren't that bright. You could think slow and give good advice via your high Wisdom.

Sobek's favored weapon is the Falchion in pathfinder.

As for dumping int because reptiles aren't that bright. I'm going to take umbrage on that one because contrary to popular belief reptiles are actually in certain ways more intelligent than similar sized mammals.
For example, tortoises are significantly more adapt at logically navigating a maze than rats. (Rats are only faster simply do to their actual speed of movement.)
Reptile brains are simply adapted to thinking in patterns human scientists have yet to fully understand but relatively recent research into non-mammalian intelligence suggests we may drastically have to rethink this idea of mammalian intellectual superiority. (Specifically in the domain of non-human intellect.)

Edit: For good measure, a quick google search revealed this article that talks about a number of such studies conducted in recent years though I urge people with a passing interest to actually give specifically the study about the maze a read. It's quite interesting to see the variations on the experiment from the actual paper. (such as removing landmarks for the animals to use for navigation.)

Thx everyone for the advice.

I especially appreciate the channeling and melee build help.

I'm leaning towards Water and Strength as my domains.

Gonna punch some Cthulhu

I would say tortoises are so slow, they don't have time to get lost in a maze, but they live 100+ years, so.... ;-)

I'm not a big fan of falchions. I'm not convinced the increased threat range is worth the reduced base damage. Oh, well.
