Just got my Alien Archive PDF and I just discovered Skittermanders!

Paizo please halt all work in progress and get working on the following ASAP:

Skittermander plushies
Prepainted Skittermander minis in glorious technicolour.
A full hardcover gazetteer on Skittermanders.
A new "Rise of the Skitterlords" AP
A whole new Skitterfinder Society organised play program.

Also please promote whoever invented these to be head of the new Skitterfinder department!!

P.S. In case it wasn't clear, I love skittermanders

I don't know what they are, other than some posters apparently like them a little bit.

Just a little.

I'm assuming Skittermanders are the pastel fuzzballs on the cover? I can't wait to get my copy of that pdf. I haven't heard anyone complain about it yet, which bodes well.

They. Are. AWESOME.

The monsters presented are pretty much what you'd expect from the system given the statblocks we already had, and the playable races are nice and don't seem too unbalanced (at least from what I can tell) plus there's quite a bit of cool new gear including more affordable sniper rifles. The npc/monster creation rules seem pretty solid from the quick once over I gave them but people had already worked out parts of it so I think people aren't too surprised. Then again, we'll see how things go once the book goes out to the general public.

Just a little.

Skittermanders are great, but their young are nightmare fuel

I second though the Plushie idea, they knew what they were doing when they made these aliens, they’re adorable and I want one in every color

I loved the artwork for them, but I enjoyed the write-up material just as much.

Ahhhhhhhhh, are we all ignoring that tentacle thing that I'm assuming it makes it's "attach attack" with?

SKITTERMANDER PLUSHY!

I don't have the book yet (they won't stock them where I live till the 31st) so I gotta ask, what're the skittermanders all about? I do hope they're more Stitch than Gremlin, cuz I don't especially feel like using something that cute and fuzzy as a baddie

They're a species of little fuzzballs that don't understand the concept of permanent governance, they can cooperate to achieve a goal but don't get the idea of having someone always in charge of them. They're also pretty much the most helpful race in the galaxy, they just really love helping people! They don't really make very good bad guys I gotta say, though the babies have a weird worm mouth coming out of their stomach which is real freaky.

The biggest problem that I see with them is that they like to help people and will do so if they are not already busy doing something else. So if they have completed the task that you gave them and your enemies show up and know how to handle them, they will start helping your enemies.

Okay, I'm sold, I'm going to crew my players' ship with those fuzzballs.

I may insist one of the players play a gnome or halfing called 'Lilo'

Shadow Lodge

Oh... I thought it would have something to do with Skitter from Worm and was very worried. New starfinder critter though... sounds cute.

Here’s a question for you subscribers that got your Alien Archives already (I’m still waiting on my PDF for some reason): are Skittermanders a playable race?

Yes

Yes, unfortunately (the same answer I would give for other pests such as goblins and gnomes).

Absolutely yes!

Exo-Guardians

Just looked at the art from the Starfinder Miniatures kickstarter. The ones on the left seem cute. Something ewok-like wandering around, obviously some folks like them. I don't have the book yet so no clue about the rules for playing them. As soon as they are sanctioned I expect a bunch of new characters entering play.

Then I glance at the two whelps and ... umm... what is that coming out of their belly? My reflex of "Kill it with fire" kicked in.

It's apparently an extra mouth for feeding purposes.

Yeah young Skittermanders have umbilical cord/chest burster mouths that they use to latch onto things and feed off of them... It's messed up.

*narrows eyes*

Exo-Guardians

So if they are allowed in SFS, they would be the full grown adult and thus NOT have the creepy feeding tentacle. That sounds better.

Which raises so many questions. Like, does it atrophy after a certain time period or do the adults still have them?

No Pictures = it don't exist. Links please.

They’re in the Alien Archive (they’re the fluffy ones on the cover).

Scroll about 1/3 down so you can see the Encounter packs.

Your link's not quite working right, so I fixed it for you.

Here!

's actually a pretty damn cool set of minis.

Also, how smart/wise are they? Small children love to 'help' to, even when you'd rather they not.

Their stat modifiers are +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -2 Int, if that helps.

So I'm sort of getting a "tribble + Mr. Meseeks" vibe from skittermanders.

Is that accurate?

The only playable race that could potentially wield 8 different devices/weapons simultaneously...

I must say, I was really disappointed to see that there were no apparant stats for the 8-bit blasters portrayed in the skittermander art.

Just be careful. We don't want these to be the next kender

Sort of, but without the homicidal madness Mr. Meeseeks develop when unable to complete a task.

I also just got my copy of the AA, and I gotta say the story of how the vesk “conquered” the skittermanders is hilarious! This opens up SO many possibilities for vesk/skittermander comedy duos!

loved the vesk "conquest" i can just visualize the vesks frustration

So, Vesk/Skittermander isn't the analogue to Klingon/Tribble?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Not really. A swarm of young tribble can't bring down a large space cow with blood drain in mere moments.

Skittermanders have the potential to be far more terrifying than tribble.

You know, it's comforting to know that when you discover something like Skittermanders and look up online that there are so many people who agree:

We need more of them!

Yes!

So... people can play as Stitch now XD

Yep.
