You know, it's comforting to know that when you discover something like Skittermanders and look up online that there are so many people who agree:

We need more of them!

Heavy onlsaught is also an 11th level minimum ability. You have time to see how your campaign is going as far as numbers of enemies with DR vs ER vs nada.

Well, there's another misreading on my part :P

Almost tempted to switch to physical, and since I'm an arcane assailant, possibly activate and de-active fire on my weapons through the abilities they get later. Considering projectiles would get more bonuses (damage + DR removal), this might be more feasible.

But yeah, I'm gonna have to check it all out in time.

Heavy onslaught (Soldier gear boost option) reduces enemy's DR if your weapon doesn't tear it to shreds with penetrating beforehand. Fair enough.

But, my query is this: Does that mean it is ONLY useful for projectile heavy weapons since they're the only ones that DR applies to? Everything else works off of resistance. Or was the idea that it should also apply to all others?

I ask because I'm busy with a Vesk Soldier type, who after discovering the joys of laser accuracy, multiple attacks and deadly accuracy has discovered that heavy artillery lasers are darn fun. Also kinda helps that he is a follower of Sarenrae (and I will be taken connection inkling at 5th cause it really fits the theme of the character).

Now, I understand carrying one heavy weapon only is a stupid idea (I do melee too as well as a few lighter weapons), but I wanted to know for a character focusing on the fire theme of things, would that heavy onslaught, the soldier's choice for heavy weapons, even be worth taking for this character?

Note: I am only level 2 atm, so I'm far from actually getting these, but I ask well ahead of time to just get a good understanding.
