No he never wrote her series. The stuff I mean happened in Thor with the league of legends showing up again.

Any time a certain Shield agent adressed Angela, she made some demeaning comments about Angelas costume. Even after getting saved by Angela she said something like that. So I am fairly certain writing Angela again is not very high on his list^^

I'll have to look back because I don't really remember that, but is it possible it was characterization for the agent, rather than Aaron's personal opinion?

I honestly don't know but I do know Agent Roz isn't as terrible a character as Jake Olsen in the annals of Thor characters.

One time perhaps but every interaction of the two and even after getting saved by Angela? That looks too much like authors bias.

If it is meant as characterization of Roz it should have been one time perhaps as a joke, but not everytime. It does not even fit to her normal characterization in his run and looks like he needed someone for telling his misgivings about Angela and Roz got the short straw.

@Thomas Seitz: Normally I like her but this story looked a little off.

And was Jake Olson so bad? I am not really remembering so much about him. Wich could be part of the problem^^

Trust me, that was part of the the Reborn thingie...which didn't do the Avengers many favors. Nor many other characters.

Also just read Venom #4. Holy F*)GK CRAPSTICKS!! That's just insane!!!

So I'm still trying to wrap my head around two things:

What the hell is going on with Marvel Continiuty...and why does Gerry Duggan seem to hate Thanos?

Thomas Seitz wrote:
Marvel Continuity

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Good one!

It has SOME. I mean at least it doesn't have speedster breaking the universe when they sleep run....

Also I still want to know why Gerry hates Thanos...

So more Horror but less in this issue of Immortal Hulk...and now it seems it affects other Gamma touched individuals. I mean we sort of knew...but now it's confirmed.

Also Spidey get split in two...but is still okay!

Honestly I was hoping Dazzler's appearance in Astonishing would be as cool as it was in that one shot...but it wasn't.

So far though, at least now reading all these disparate leads for Wolverine, one thing remains clear. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIND THIS SOTEIRA!

More Inhumans die and I still can't believe the Kree think trying to invade Earth is a good idea...

Oh and in the least surprising move, Requiem is Gamora. Duh.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Wait ... what?

So, I've been following Marvel Two-in-One regularly. I haven't been the world's biggest fan of the "Ben and Johnny losing their powers" bit, but the "Ben and Johnny and Victor go dimension-hopping" has been interesting. And, when we left our intrepid adventurers, they were on a backwater dimension, virtually powerless, with their dimension-hopper and Doom both gone missing. And they had assumed new identities, hiding from the fascist Spider-man running the world.

Well-written characterization. Definitely a cliff-hanger. How are they gonna get out of this?

--

They aren't. This week's Fantastic Four #1 pulls up, and Ben and Johnny are back home, in full command of their powers. Reed and Sue are still missing, for the time being, which is sad, but things are much less dire. Doom's back, too, with a freshly-destroyed face and innate powers.

It's kind of a WTF moment I'll grant you Chris...but I guess that they'll address that in Marvel Two in One.

Also in today's "Well that's interesting!" Apparently there's a mutant on the X-men team that ISN'T a mutant!

Also I have a theory about how the death and rebirth of Wolverine leads to Extinction along with what it means for Astonishing X-men's ongoing story and the other X-men books. Along with the fact I think we're seeing a tying of threads on the disparate Hunt for Wolverine stuff...

I could post a SPOILER...but I figure I wanted to see if anyone is curious first.

So Mike Murdoch is back. Also still pretty much mulling over the whole "There's a non-mutant sleeper agent in the X-men!"

So now I can admit, I'm a little pissed that Thanos didn't help Hela...but at least Thor worked it out. I guess...

Mostly it was reading about the mutant side of the Marvel Comics that has me more than a little miffed...

Well that and now Gamora will probably screw things up more...

So... Marvel's humanity and its super heroics are just god vomit that also act as a vaccine AND a cure against bugs. Good to know Jason Aaron!

Also good: Betsy and Kwannon are now once again separate individuals but still mutants and proud.

Venom finally figures out how to fly. It only took a god to do it...

So not only did we figure out a little more about this Soitera group, it's leader shows up and is like "Hey I can kill mutants before they become mutants! So stop messing with my stuff!" Not sure how I feel about that.

Also younger Cable apparently is trying to turn Cosmic enhanced Angel back into regular Angel. I dunno if that's how that works, young Cable...

Good side of alternate Spider stuff; Evangelion Venom! ;) Sort of.

Also Exiles is kind of wearing me down with these pointless character death. And yes, Elendil counts as a character!!

New Mutants is WEIRD and not in a good way. Especially that ambiguous ending...of sorts.

Good news is while Magneto might be embracing ruthlessness, it's clear he's not about killing everyone to get his point across. Even though I think his new Brotherhood could do without Briar Raleigh being a member. Support staff? Sure. Not a full member though.

So this week in Marvel seems to tie into not just current events (in the marvel u, not the real world...though Coates' Cap does give it nod) ;

First in Death of Inhumans, there's a reference to Cosmic Ghost Rider and Galactus showing up, followed by the BEST intro for a certain horse-headed Cosmic type that is a brother to a certain God of Thunder...

Then in the actual Cosmic Ghost Rider, we get to see what Punisher Thanos is like (along with like more Guardians and very old Cable trying to stop Frank)

While Ben Reilly gets ROYALLY screwed over by Mephisto...

Who probably still had a shiner from when Thanos visited him before Thanos died and smacked him around saying "Leave Frank Castle alone"

Also apparently if I'm not mistaken, our newest Guardians will probably be Starfox, Cosmic Ghost Rider and some others, based solely on the fact Starfox was there digging out Thanos' will. Yeah that should be good.

In Asgardians of the Galaxy we get some mention about Infinity War along with apparently undead Norse Gods on the dead ships. Oh and Kid Loki is back.

So highlights:

Wolverine still has memory problems, but we'll see if that stops him from doing the best thing he does...

While in a distant future timeline/reality, King Thor and Old Man Logan Phoenix have a rather intense discussion about the fate of Earth...

Only to have Doctor "I got more power than I did when I killed the Beyonders" Doom shows up with his monster entourage.

The Avengers get a new HQ, thanks to the Celestials; Though I think I'd want to keep the receipt in case it wakes up; Also T'Challa will be chairperson-ing the Avengers, along with hints from Loki about stuff going on...

Jen Walters finds out she's got more gamma charged cells than in most super novas;

While Bruce keeps trying to puzzle out why the Hulk is mad while at the same time being chased by Thunderbolt Ross' protege from the time Ross was Red Hulk and the Avengers.

Carol finds out Mom isn't from around here, much less Earth;

We see what the combined histories of Captain America and Doctor Strange look like in this Warped...whatever it is that Gamora did in Infinity War #3.

Also Madrox and his dupes keep screwing up the time line and I keep wondering where Kang is...

While the West Coast Avengers try to deal with MODOK's newest form...and you know inter-team conflict. (Damn it Quire...)

Renew Your Vows ends with the kind of thud I'd expect while we wait for Spider-Geddon to get kicked up.

Also in the same vein, we see what a blood transfusion from a young Pete Parker would do to Uncle Ben.

Doctor Strange gets more Spacey and the same time more Asgardian, while Doctor Strange tells Bats about it while still on Earth.

Rogue and Gambit find out what it's like to have a kid that's not theirs but IS the child of their mentor and HIS girlfriend. (Yeah it went there folks.)

Venom ends the threat of Knull's Symbiote while at the same time Eddie loses his.

And the X-men...end this run with a possibly dying new Mutant.

Honestly, only Thor and the Avengers are the things I enjoyed.

So in Spider-man world;

New roomie that Pete knows is Boomrang, takes him to the Bar with No Name to do Spider-man trivia. It's weird but good.

Also we get to see Spidey's more human side when someone tries to do a documentary. It's really neat to see Pete as Spidey help a kid with math. I wish Spidey would have helped ME with Math.

Poor Ben Reilly can't catch a break and is probably dead now. Thanks Mephisto! :P :(

Spider-Geddon (both the Edge one shots and the 0 start up) have some unique moments; What with a still evil Norman Osborn doing Spider-man and Otto as Superior coming to recruit new Spider-man from his Playstation video game world. Also nice to see Otto be less of a dick, even if he still not that trustworthy. Also I think the Web Warriors MIGHT have screwed up sending in that many drones to check on the Inheritors.

Other side of Marvel:

Not sure how this Cosmic stuff works for BP, but at least we're getting closer to having some resolution of T'Challa get his memories back.

More Infinity Warp-ness as Thor and Iron Man become Siguard Stark (and possibly Odinson); It's still unclear how much is happening back in 616...if at all.

Jessica Jones new digital only comic is kind of sweet as it wraps up it's first story arc.

Moon Knight figures out that Ernst isn't running the show any more. And now the Sun King is back.

Both Johnny and Ben help save their new universe from the Mad Thinker's crew and the crazy Battleworld Spider-man. Still rather be reading the new FF honestly.

Old Man Hawkeye is okay...but I REALLY want them to get on with it as Hawkeye (Clint) needs to stop doing stupid things.

Frank Castle's War on HYDRA is going about what you'd expect. He's got some bodies, but he's also got some flack from people like Nick Fury Jr.

Bob Reynolds decides that he can merge the Void and the Sentry...and does so. We'll see what the last issue has in store and what it might mean down the road.

And Venom's newest kid, Sleeper, is kind of like his old man...in that he kills the Kree and is now wearing him to get around. Yeah not fun. But eh. At least now we got the whole "Who is this new Symbiote?"

X-men stuff:

Honestly the best is clearly the Domino annual, if only because we get to see the Posse form up (kind of. It's never shown how Diamondback and Dom decided to join up...) Plus she's got a support group going for mutants that don't QUITE look human. Or feel like they fit in.

Extermination explains how Ahab is able to make new Hounds, but honestly it's more of Deus Ex thing. Much like everything else. Oh and Jean joins up with the soon to be new X-force to hunt young Cable.

Old Man Logan fights and loses to the Maestro, but honestly we'd expect this as his healing factor is going. But at least he gave it a shot...

X-men Blue ends with the time displaced X-men trying to figure out how to handle/wrap things up...and kind of does.

Red, on the other hand, deals a kind of nice decisive blow to Cassandra Nova's plan by weaponizing the Internet. (YAY!) But I have a feeling that sending Rachel to mess with Mom is going to be tough...especially for Nightcrawler.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So today's summary of comics this week from the side of the Marvel Comics that doesn't involve (or at least highlight) mutants:

The newly dubbed Asgardians of the Galaxy try to stop Nebula from doing horrid things. They end up fighting undead baby gods. Not cool Nebula! Not cool at all! (More cool is undead Thor fighting Gladiator)

The Champions try to find their missing friends, former Nova and Current Wasp. They end up in Weirdworld in a kind of D&D-esque roles, with only Ironheart remembering she's...well you know. Not from there. The others get some coolness to them, but honestly I'm waiting to see more as it rolls along.

Cosmic Ghost Rider continues its weird but interesting look at what a Cosmic Power Ghost Rider possessed Frank Castle would be...raising Thanos??!! Yeah it gets balling-weird but it's still Thanos. And it's also still Frank.

The Death of the Inhumans takes a turn as we find out Vox isn't a singular entity, but more like programming done by the Kree to get more Inhumans on their side. Down side is that Bill MIGHT have killed Maximus...but I figure now these Kree should consider the fact they're truly boned. Cause Bill's pissed.

Doctor Strange reveals that the OTHER Doctor Strange we saw is a familiar face...if you read the Strange volume 2 comic. Pretty weird switch over but eh. We'll see how much of this impacts the rest of the Universe...

SPEAKING of Universe, Sleepwalker is back! And we get to see how the Dreamworld runs when there's a warped Soulworld where 616 should have been. Not sure I care for his first pick to help him...but it's not as terrible as some...

And now thanks to Superior Octopus being a moron, (again!) we know how the Inheritors get off their badly irradiated Earth. Because CLONING! Yeah it's dumb but that's Doc Oct for you...even when he's trying to do good, he screws up worse than Peter does.

Iron Man and the original Wasp rekindle an old flame while fighting against imposter humans that apparently wanted to steal stuff. Mostly it's fun to see how a Vespa can become a new suit for Tony.

Typhoid Mary goes fiery and deadly, while Spidey TRIES hard to stop her from messing with his mind...and fails. But to be fair, with all the powers at Mary's finger tips, it's not like he had much of a shot. Okay X-men! Up to you now!

Now on to the What ifs!

(my favorite part!)

What if a certain jock got Spidey's power? Well it turns out as bad as you think since Flash Thompson clearly didn't learn that being a hero is more than being famous. It's not until he kills Peter (yes he does that) and tries to make up for it that he has a moment almost like the one he had in his demise as Agent Anti-Venom.

What if X-men were Anime?! Well kind of. I mean it felt like Ghost in the Shell with X-men...but it was more than that. Just not a LOT more. Honestly I'd like to see this world fleshed out more in some other issues perhps.

Mutants Unite! Or Untie?

Deadpool ends up fighting zombies thanks to an appearance by Black Talon and his zombies, inside a shopping mall. Yeah it's got some Dawn of the Dead references, but mostly it's Deadpool folks.

Deadpool Secret Agent continues Wade's shenanigans, but more like what does Deadpool know about being a spy? Turns out...not that much.

Shatterstar stars in his own series and really you get a good feel for the character along with meeting some VERY interesting people as he does his landlord thing. Yes he's a landlord. But his tenants are all refugees from possibly defunct timelines/realities. So there's that. Bad news is that he and Rictor are on the outs. I honestly liked them as a couple.

Weapon H shows us more Weirdworld along with some pretty cool groupings, IE Titana and Korg the Stone Man. Mostly it's them doing this while keeping Dario Aggar from doing...something. I mean it's Dario Aggar. You know you can't trust this guy!

Weapon X (or as they call themselves Weapon X Force), finds out that there's Hell to pay as Reverend Stryker sold his remaining digital soul to...someone I guess. Mostly it's just the crew trying to survive against mind controlled mutants (and one not quite mutant) before Sabretooth has a idea to rattle Mentallo's control over everything and one.

X-men Black, a series of one shots about each X-men villain, starts us off with a classic. I mean that truly since it's not just Magneto but the guy that made mutants cool. Yes Chris Claremont writes it. And he writes beautifully, wonderfully, and mostly you get a real feel for everything that both sides do. Magento comes off less the villain and more the tragic hero. Which I think is cool. But you also can see his growth as he and a human girl talk about mutants in a way I don't see many other writers do. So there's that. Plus the back up, my favorite mutant near god, En Saban Nur aka Apocalypse, tries to do a mind transfer...fails and some how ends up somewhere else. Worse, his body is starting to fail him and make him human. Yeah not good for him. But I have my hopes. Apocalypse isn't one to stay down.

Just read Doctor Aphra #25. Great read and more than a few surprise twists. Can not wait for next issue.

vader related:
Sorry to see BeeTee killed off. His last "Bleep?" before being cut in half by Vader made me a little sad. But being an android I hope it comes back.

Low,

Honestly? Not a huge Star Wars comic fan...

While I wasn't that unhappy with X-men Black's Mystique issue, I honestly had hoped for a TAD more but in this instance, at least, it felt like the right tone for Juggernaut compared to some others I've read.

Also still confused by WHY the Sentry got a mini-series that ended with this much ambiguity about just who and what is in charge now...

Thomas Seitz wrote:

I think I am a bigger Star Wars Comics or Animation fan than of the movies. If the writers of that would get jobs for the movies it could only make that better.

Thomas Seitz wrote:

Perhaps they thought, that it would sell good enough to make it an ongoing like Domino. But you are right, they should have planned that better and started with the ambiguity after they could have planned the ongoing.

Low,

Yeah that's kind of my point. They thought "This will sell out like hot cakes!" and it barely made a blip. Regardless, I'm sure someone will fix it... I hope anyway.

What I can say is out of four issues of X-men Black, three were great and only one was a REAL stinker.

Honestly, I would not shed any tears if the Sentry stays in Limbo. Got enough of him the last time they tried to make him relevant. And that includes the "He was Rogues first lover" stuff(Whoever thought that was a good idea?).

And three out of four positve are good news. Is not the norm^^

Not sure but after finishing the last one, I can honestly say other than the throw away with Mojo, the others were clearly pretty good to very good.

This week's Emma kind of surprised me...but not entirely.

So yeah today's highlights for me were clearly the last X-men Black, the Avengers Halloween special (especially the one for Daredevil), and What If. The rest were kind of hit and miss...I mean I like seeing more of Arno Stark...but not sure he's that great a villain.

West Coast Avengers, I had HOPED they'd finish this story arc this issue but I guess they needed to stretch it out for...reasons. Vault of Spiders, Spider Force were decent tie ins but nothing to write home about.

Old Man Logan and Old Man Hawkeye have clearly worn out their welcome. I STILL can't make heads or tails of all the time travel and dupe shennigans for Jamie Madrox's dupe (who I guess is now Madrox Prime).

Extinction's time line stuff makes ZERO sense with the fact time has been pretty damn fluid in the Marvel Comics since like...ever. Iron Hammer finishes but not sure I'd call it a win. Reed Richards TRIES to explain why he's a dick to his best friend and brother-in-law. I don't think it works but eh. Black Panther is still going through the motions but I'm hopeful eventually Coates will bring it home.

So the penultimate issue of Infinity Wars shows us the following:

Loki can't be trusted; Gamora has serious trust issues, Celestials created the Infinity Stones (some how that doesn't shock me), and the Warp World MIGHT survive.

Spider-geddon continues without Peter playing a major role, but the other Spider people do manage to hurt the Inheritors. I do think though Superior Ock might want to consider looking closer at having an Osborn on his side...

Asgardians of the Galaxy continues to rock its way through the galaxy, showing us how Nebula got off the God Quarry, and also everyone in the group now knows Kid Loki is running things.

Champions continues it wild ride through Weirdworld, as we see how the Master of the World got to rule parts of it while Morgan (presumably) got removed via Roxxon.

Death of Inhumans....kills off more Inhumans. But most of the royal family remains (YAY FOR NOT KILLING Lockjaw!) So yeah...

Doctor Strange continues his fight against his former apprentice, while also trying to figure out her end game. Apparently Mordo had to interfere.

After two kind of non-horror-ish issues, Immortal Hulk ends with a REALLY disgusting body horror ending. So yeah, Ewing is pulling out the horror vibe deeply on this issue. I think though this has been my favorite take on Hulk since Pak and/or David.

Marvel Knights shows us Doctor Doom wants all the super people off the streets. He almost gets it too, but I think Banner's Other is writing him notes. We'll see as the first of Marvel Knights 20th anniversary issues continues.

Runaways gives us the definitive origin of the Staff of One. Not sure I'm totally down with it, but eh.

The second of the Typhoid Mary's little three issue run, continues with kind of stupid way. I mean this is Jean freaking GREY! She should be able to shred though Mary like a hot knife through butter. But I guess it wouldn't be as fun. But it sure doesn't feel fun...

Shatterstar's new comic is really something. I'm not 100% convinced it's the best, but the fact it pulls from his history along with giving us poignant moments with Rictor as well as great fights, makes this interesting.

Weapon X continues onward dealing with Rev Stryker's new deal with the devil and his promise to come back to kill them all. So what does this team do? Why go hire Azazel to get them into Hell! Yeah...cause that's never a problem... *eyeroll*

Weapon X has a kind of homage to Kindergarten Cop...that doesn't quite work. I mean it's there. It COULD work...it just doesn't.

Really each time I think I can't get more feels for X-men Red, an issue like this comes along. Not only do we see Cassandra's next move, but we see Jean's countermove and it's truly epic and wonderful.

So while I have my likes and dislike for last week's, clearly the Immortal Hulk's body horror vibe is making this iteration of the Hulk's character MUCH more interesting as well as potentially VERY disturbing. So yeah, if you had to pick a book, stick with Immortal Hulk. It's bound to make you remember stuff you wish you didn't. In a good way!

Oh and Avengers 700 was good if only because we get PHIL COULSON back from the dead and now we have a Squadron Supreme that might be ready to fight the new Avengers. Plus a new Winter Guard. Oh and Old Man Phoenix shows up to save Loki. Weird I know. But the visions of the future are pretty neat, especially if we're going to get MULTIPLE Star brands.

Amazing Spider-man keeps to its own as Spidey and Black Cat deal with the new thieves Guild, but really the side plot with MJ, Carlie Cooper and Jarvis is pretty great.

Spider-ggedon tie in shows us that Pete isn't ready to lead...at least until he get Morlun down. Which given the huge police presence, might mean there's a slaughter-fest coming for NYPD finest...

Part 2 of the Vault of Spiders is probably a mixed/wash but honestly Spiders'man is probably one of the more creepy versions/origins of Peter Parker and his radioactive spider...swarm? ;)

The first of a limited series run about probably one of the better creations of Johnathan Hickman's Avengers run, The Black Order, kicks off as you'd expect. I do miss Supergiant though...

Cosmic Ghost Rider ends with...well I wouldn't call it a bad note or even a thud...just a resolution as Frank Castle realizes he's not the hero he thought he was. But neither is Punisher Thanos. Oh and Death makes a nice cameo too.

Daredevil barely survives against some of his best in the rogue gallery, especially when Bullseye almost takes him out. I'm glad to see that Mike Murdock kind of helped...but honestly they need to resolve this soon.

Captain America deals with saving Sharon along with the return of Aleksander Lukin, who might not be alone in his head. That plus the Power elite clearly are planning their own things...at least as far as Selene and Alexa are concerned.

Fantastic Four shows us that while it was a pretty obvious and kind of simplistic solution, the FF are back at least. So yeah...

Infinity Warps one shots show case some interesting but not sure I'd call them exciting 'new' characters. Mostly because I've already seen what happens when you combine Doctor Doom with Galactus. But eh.

Ms Marvel takes us back into the personal past of Kamala Khan and a possible Inhuman ancestor. Otherwise pretty forgettable.

Thor's journey into his young self past wasn't as cool as future Thor/King Thor. But at the same time it was a nice look at Viking Thor.

Still much love for Nadia Pym, even if she spends a goodly portion of the issue asleep. But that is made up by the supporting cast. Props to Bobbi and Janet! :)

Venom shows us that while Ultimate Reed Richards is playing long games (those videos/cameras showing us Spider-ggeddon, Thanos' death, and the Unseen), he certain didn't work out that having codex of symbiotes might not have been the best idea. But I love the props Eddie gave Flash, especially because it's clear, if there's ever a great redeemer of Venom as a good guy, it was due in no small part to Flash Thompson.

On the Mutant side of things, the new Unncanny gives us MORE Madrox (which I think isn't needed) along with wondering where Kitty Pryde is, who is bringing back formerly extinct species and oh yeah, the younger X-men feel very put on. Plus Apocalyse makes an appearance long with Age of Apocalypse characters that MIGHT be linked to it...and/or Nate Gray/X-man.

And Domino and the girls try to figure out how to save humanity from vampires and get help from Micheal Mobius. Not the best two part issue, but eh.

Loki can't be trusted?

In other breaking news, water is wet.

Jean Grey vs. Typhoid mary and Jean Grey is notwinning at once? Now I must read that just because I want to know how that could work.

Whats next? Spider-Man vs Bullseye?

Damon,

Well yeah but I honestly thought for like the BRIEFEST of seconds, he'd not screw over everyone. I know better now.

Low,

Well it helps Mary's got a psychic power battery mutant that amps her powers. It still isn't enough for me for her to take down Jean in my book though...

I still recommend the most recent issue of Immortal Hulk and also Avengers 700 for the fact the ending showcases some future stuff I think might be interesting.

Thomas Seitz wrote:

Loki will always pull a fast one. He can't do otherwise. Loki is the fabled scorpion on the frog's back.

Just read West Coast Avengers 4 and I love it. If it had only B.R.O.D.O.K that would be enough but the rest was great too^^

Great Team and hope it stays for some time.

And respect to Thompson for being able to make Quire tolerable.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah well the tolerable part of Quire comes and goes. But the awesome-ness of Kate Bishop and America Chavez remain.

Damon,

I know, I know. But some times I keep waiting to be not disappointed.

Well, okay, but while you're waiting, Lucy van Pelt has a football she'd like you to kick. :)

Don't mind me. I'm too much of a pessimist to understand continuing optimism in the face of repeated disappointment.

I never trust girls with footballs. Gods of Trickery...eh.

Also optimism is how I keep going when all the world goes to crap.

Thanks Low. The truth is obvious for those that go and read about it. Best friends and team up outside of Hawkeye and Hawkeye.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So while I could just tell you to read Immortal Hulk, I think issue 8 and issue 9 offer us some really GREAT body horror that's not been seen since John Carpenter's The Thing.

And the new Uncanny X-men is just...well not terrible but I'd hardly call it supremely good.

But West Coast Avengers? Yeah, that's a team book.

After reading the first issue of the new Uncanny I just had the feeling of been there done that.

Compared to the first issue of West Coast Avengers that left a smile on my face starting with the first page. And that with Land sharks and the slightly forced team-up^^

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Low,

Yeah it's kind of retreading old ground but this time it's just the mutants it seems. I could be wrong.

Mostly I await to see the new Guardians of the Galaxy lineup. I kind of want all those on the cover to stay there just because it would be great.

Exiles has gotten good again. Felt like it lost its way a bit but since the trial of the Watchers a few issues ago it's gotten good.

Domino is also great.

Exiles might have gotten good, but it's probably going the way of Old Man Logan, ie canceled after February.

Some updates;

Spidey and Black Cat resolve old issues while we get a clearer look see at the fact the Thieves Guild is at least a decent replacement for your usual 'criminal empire' thingie.

Daredevil has a kind of Jacob's Ladder moment while we see what ramifications this might have down the line. So far...unclear if we'll get undead Matt Murdock or something...

Dead Man Logan follows up with some interesting end games possibly being set up by...Miss Sinister?!! Okay I didn't see that... but eh. At least Hydra gets involved...

Speaking of Hydra, Old man Hawkeye's penultimate issue closes out Clint's revenge fest with the last Thunderbolt and of course the 'future' that we saw in Old Man Logan.

The Fantastic Four find out they might be homeless, if not for the ingenuity of Ben Grimm, and the fact that trying to replace the FF isn't a good fit for a group calling itself the Fantastix.

Both Infinity Warps limited run, Weapon Hex and Arachaknight end on weird notes...but it's not the worst we've seen out of this mixed bag of a cross over.

Riri William's own series kicks off with a Spider-man villain and the name of a familiar piece of jewelry that many Iron Man fans would know. Mostly it's a good outing, but not something I'd say gives me pause or hope it continues...

Two in One finishes it run with a fairly Johnny Storm/Sue Storm centered story that also helps semi-tie into the current FF run. But mostly it's a goodbye and not looking back issue.

Return of Wolverine is weird. I mean I get that you want the X-men and Wolverine to fight...but it feels very forced in some ways. Mostly I want to know what the hell and/or who the hell is Persphone and her end goals. Because honestly I don't see anything I can realistically call "goals"

Spider-girls and Spider-Gwen Ghost Spider are decent Spider-ggeddon cross overs, but I wouldn't say reading them adds much value. I mean sure I'm a HUGE MC2 May Parker/Spider-woman fan...but even I felt this was under cut by the fact Mayday hadn't really given us something...while her ersatz alternate Spiderling Parker didn't even gives us a plot advancement. At least in Gwen's series, you know why she's stuck in a rut. No one there wants to send her home without resolving stuff. Though Harry Osborn as Spider-man was kind of neat. Mostly I'm just ready to see Spider-Gwen get her new codename and move on.

Uncanny X-men FINALLY got some movement going, along with explaining why we had SO many dupes of Madrox running around with powers. Mostly it was a chance for us to see Legion being less of a douche than usual but clearly having some issues. Also the new Horsemen of Salvation...I knew they were coming but I never realized that one of them was Magneto!!! I mean that redesign was so off the wall. But now in retrospect to some of the solicits for the upcoming Age of X-man, I see it. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing what this all does for the X-men...but I'm not convinced it's much of a team book like X-men Red was, or even X-men Blue.

Just read X-men: the exterminated and I am pleasantly surprised. I exepected something like the usual fall to the dark side but we got Hope and Jean travelling around , shutting down Cables hideouts and talking about him.

As i am a fan i hope we get to see her again and she does not get into limbo to be killed off or getting the evil treatment.

low,

God I hope not! I liked Hope, even if I feel like she should actually have Grey and/or Summer's Blood in her. But regardless, we'll see what happens as Uncanny rolls on.

Reading that one-shot, the chances for a closer connection with Jean look good and with it a place on one of the teams for her.

Or she gets on a another team with fewer mutants. Might make her power more manageble. On a mutants team someone who can copy all mutant powers in range might quickly get out of control^^

And isn't she technically a phoenix child or something? As far as I remember Avengers vs. X-men was at least implying something like that.

But regarding that I think that that was the lowest point of the whole stupid Hero vs Hero stuff, I am not in a hurry to reread it^^

Low,

My understanding was some how the Phoenix Force was involved in her birth as a new mutant. I don't think it gave Hope her power set. I could be wrong, but re-reading Messiah Complex, I recall that there was a HUGE spike of Mutant signature that everyone felt...or at least almost blew out Cerebro. So...whether or not the Phoenix Force did that, is unclear.

As for her and Jean bonding, I think it's a good bad because I honestly like Rachel better. But eh. As for her getting on a team...considering they're condensing the X-men and now Nate Grey is back being a kind of new Mutant Messiah (though not the same way that Hope was.), it's hard to see where she would fit in currently.
