So the two all-fighter tables are off to rousing starts, but I find myself really curious about the differences between them and how a more "traditional" party would do. The time commitment hasn't been too bad so far, so I'm debating opening a third table of II, but without the all-fighters restriction. Otherwise, things would be pretty much the same set of character creation rules that I originally posted.
Is anyone interested? Please note that, as of this moment, I am only opening the possibility of recruitment up to players who applied for the all-fighter games and were not chosen. Anyone still following the thread who might want to submit something?

Sixteenbiticon |

Yes, yes, yes. I certainly would. Maybe there will be enough of us so we might be able to just submit one cohesive group. I'm not really sure what type of character I'd like to submit, but certainly color me interested.
Edit: If Anca doesn't make the cut in the RotRL recruitment I'm in that ends this weekend she is certainly a build I'd throw into the ring. I plan on taking a few levels of flying blade swashbuckler to give her a few more tricks.

Cuàn |

I'd love to.
I have the fighter that I originally submitted but reinvented as a Bloodrager but I'd also be more than fine creating something new. I have plenty of ideas that work for this AP.
EDIT: A question, would you be ok with the Skinwalker from the Trial of the Hunted bestiary, the Aeriekin? It's in the Wereraptor entry.

Sixteenbiticon |

A couple concepts I've been tossing around is an intimidate rogue, thrown starknife warpriest (linked above), vexing daredevil mesmerist, and possibly an elemental annihilator or kinetic knight kineticist. Although, for II I really feel like submitting something "nature-y", which none of those concepts particularly are.
Shisumo, I'd like to ask if you'd approve the order of the bow from this book. It really works well when combined with the luring cavalier archetype for a fun mounted archer which I think would really fit the theme of II. I played it for a time in a very short F2F Kingmaker game that quickly fizzled out and it was a blast. Let me know. ;)

I have no clue about the Rougarou, don't have Bestiary 6.
As for my character, I'd either be looking at the Bloodrager (Steelblood) with the Destined bloodline or an Aeriekin Cleric (Divine Paragon) or Druid (Nature Priest).
Another question, would you allow retraining? It is of interest for the cleric as that one would be picking up a feat that would eventually be superseded by a class feature. The feat comes in at level 5 while the class feature won't show before level 14.

![]() |

I don't object to retraining, but I'm honestly not sure how much time the campaign will offer for downtime. It starts out fairly slow, but the pace looks to pick up as the storyline progresses. Still, if you guys are willing to wait the time for it, I won't tell you no.
And since most of the people so far who have spoken up seem to still be feeling the martial groove, the cleric or druid would be good choices.
(FYI, the rougarou is a humanoid shapeshifter race that can turn into a wolf and back once/day. Kind of natural lycanthropes, although they aren't actually werecritters and kind of hate real werewolves.)

Cuàn |

The cleric won't break without retraining but using a feat to get Wis to attack on your bow only to later get Wis on attack and damage for free seems rather bad. Archery being as feat intensive as it is only makes it worse and that that one also would like to fit Boon Companion in somewhere.
Not entirely sure on the combat style for the Druid. Could go archery there as well but that feels like a waste of perfectly good Wild Shape. Also looking at the possibility of going Druidic Herbalism for Nature Bond. It'll give me potion crafting without need for downtime.

Not to try to dissuade you from your intent, but as a guy who's been playing a Wisdom-based bow warpriest into the high teen levels, it's honestly kind of a trap. There are too many really good archery feats that require really good Dex scores, so you either wind up missing out on key archer feats (like Improved Precise Shot, requires Dex 19, and even Manyshot, requires Dex 17) or you wind up bumping your Dex so high that you aren't really getting anything out of shooting off of Wisdom in the first place. Zen archers get away with it because they can ignore prereqs. For clerics... well, so far, it's been pretty iffy.

Sixteenbiticon |

My warpriest/swashbuckler was accepted into another game, but I am curious as to what you think about the cavalier order I sent you. If that doesn't fly, I might submit something else, I'm just not quite sure what. Maybe a slayer or rogue since that role seems to be needed.
Kineticist interests me as well. I know a traumatic event is sometimes the catalyst for a kineticist discovering his powers, so maybe the initial attack on Phaendar could be the catalyst? The idea of a character discovering his powers just as the adventure starts seems very interesting. He could learn more about himself as the adventure goes. I certainly like that idea, what do you think?

![]() |

The order feels more like an archetype than an actual cavalier order - I don't know that this is an issue for me per se, but aesthetically I find myself making a lemon-face. It isn't really a dealbreaker, though. If you wanted to go there, I'd be willing to go along for the ride.
I do very much like the idea of a kineticist who gets their powers in the first encounter of the AP. That would be a lot of fun. (Particularly if you chose the kinetic healer talent.)

Sixteenbiticon |

Alright, that settles that. I'll go kineticist. I feel the class can be molded in such a huge variety of ways, I might wait to see how the other builds come together before hammering out my own.
Have you decided to make this a full-on recruitment? Any details on the party size or what kind of deadline you're looking at? I'm assuming other than the fighter requirement, the chargen guidelines are the same as the original recruitment?

![]() |

Five players, and if I can get a good party together without going outside the people who already applied but I had to pass over, then that's what I am going to do (I like rewarding enthusiasm, and there were so many good submissions that even two tables was painful to pick for). So for the moment, consider this the recruitment thread, and I'll leave it open for a couple more days to see if anyone else happens across it.
The starting gold will be average for your class, and pretty much any Paizo-printed class and archetypes are legal. Also, add rougarou and naiad to the available races. Everything else is as before.

![]() |

The naiad is a 0-HD fae that can attune itself to a body of water to get bonuses while near that water; with the Marideth River right next to Phaendar, it seems like you could easily be linked to the river. (Note that you don't really suffer for being away from your body of water or not having a linked body of water, you just don't get the bennies of having one.) I don't have the specifics of the race with me at work, but I'll try to see what I can do later tonight.

Sixteenbiticon |

It doesn't look like elemental annihilator will work for a TWF build, so I might drop kineticist... I already play a switch-hitter ranger and a thrown weapon warpriest, so I'm trying to find a concept that fits this AP that doesn't overlap too much with either of those and also complements with some of the other proposed build ideas. Man this is tough.
I do have an ifrit UC rogue going down the demoralize/intimidate path. Or I might just have to come up with something brand spanking new for this...

![]() |

Shisumo let me know what you think about this character. Obviously, I have to modify him (level down to 1, abilities to 20 PB, starting gold, traits) but I think this character will be my submission as I love the build concept. All those nasty hobbies will temble before Raska!
Allowing for needing to adjust for this campaign, the build looks good, but I would like some kind of background/history/personality to look over as well.

Raska Edan |

Great, I'll take the Unbreakable Survivor trait as well as a suitable drawback once I have a chance to look them over. I'm thinking Raska will be a known figure for leading the charge to seek out and destroy the local bandit problem and, in doing so, he has learned the tricks of the trade himself to sort of beat them at their own game. He is an easy-going and friendly guy, but once he goes to work his fury can be quite staggering. He means to emulate their methods, infiltrate them, and destroy them utterly.

Vrog Skyreaver |

I figure it can't hurt to ask, but would you allow me to play a Marshal? It's one of my all time favorite classes and a good fit thematically.

Raska Edan |

Requesting approval for the Foul Brand, Haunting Regret, or Information Overload drawback found here. The first two I could easily tie in to the attack I survived detailed in the Unbreakable Survivor campaign trait. The latter I could tie into the fact that I'm a bandit hunter so reading their secret missives could tie into that nicely.

Here is my crunch. I will get backstory up tomorrow.

I'll be making a Naiad who is the guardian of the Marideth river as it flows through Phaendar. She'd have the Blight-Burned campaign trait as the Blight would be even scarier to a fey creature than it is to others. Background wise, the fey that attacked her were her friends and Naiad sisters, twisted by the Blight.
As far as class goes, I'm still torn between a Divine Paragon Cleric of Gozreh and nature Priest Druid who'd probably be devoted to either Gozreh or Jalaijatali, an Empyreal Lord.
