At least we made something tasty of one of his threads.

I second that. Any objections? No? Motion carries. :)

I'm already hungry. I'm used to eat early but today I'm working until 3 in the afternoon. If I read this thread again I'll end chewing my own fist xD
Get a snack, or something. Peanuts are good, unless you're allergic.

True, but I don't know whether she's allergic. I don't want to do anything irresponsible.
Fortunately I'm not allergic to any known food. Whole milk and cream can create some embarrasing situations, though.

I'm allergic to s%!&ty food. Can't eat the stuff.
But I'm Quaker, so i've had my fill (and then some) of s#@$ty food. :-)

Last night my fiance made her Risotto and the mushrooms and Parmesan shavings were like heaven. I did my part and stopped at the only bakery in town that makes a decent baguette on my way home.

Pan brought some bread... «Pan» means «bread» in Spanish so I found that concept amusing.
We have some excellent Panaderias in the twin cities, but finding a decent baguette is sadly a struggle. Gas station baguette in France is better than our bakeries here... :(
We have excelent bread here, in a lot of varieties. When I was in England I couldn't find real bread anywhere!

There are worse things there than natural fat and calories. I'd rather eat a good bacon and cheese sandwich (with real bread of course) than some of that processed crap full of palm oil and trans fat.

Hey, Kileanna. What time zone are you in?
GMT+1 Right now it's a warm and sunny afternoon out there.

I guess you meant GMT-5? Or am I wrong?
I remember there were 6 hours of difference from here to the East Coast, IIRC.

All I know is, where I'm at it's almost 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Kileanna wrote: GMT+1 Right now it's a warm and sunny afternoon out there. What city do you live in, if I might ask.
And it's warm and sunny here today, as well. Last weekend it snowed and temps fell to freezing again. Spring came very early this year and winter finally got one last punch in, thank goodness (I'm a winter person).
I have mixed feelings about winter.
On the one hand, it's nice in December.
On the other hand, I wish it wouldn't last 6-7 months.

Yes, you're probably right. Just woke up not long ago. Was up several hours being ill. I'm sensitive to Monosodium Glutamate, so I avoid it when I can. But the sneaky rat-b******s put it in nearly everything these days.
We didn't even really have a winter this year. There were about 3 or 4 weeks (not consecutively) where it got down into winter temperatures and it snowed about 2 inches where I live (though last week in the northern part of the state - Arkansas - they got about 4 to 5 inches but it was gone the next day). I remember as a kid every winter would see to 2 to 3 snowfalls, often a foot or more in depth and it would be so cold we'd have to break the ice on the ponds daily so the cattle could drink. I know that's not a lot to some people, but here it was a big deal. The last real snowfall we got here was Christmas Day 2012, where it snowed over a foot.
We had thick, heavy snow yesterday, which turned to slush when it started raining.
I think we average 60 inches of snow a year.

I'm from Lugo, a small city on Northwestern Spain.
We have a Roman Wall from 2000 years ago (Google «Lugo Roman Wall», it's pretty cool) and a tradition of cooking octopus (Google «pulpo a feira», it's as tasty as it looks nasty!).
Yes, I'm trying to get some tourists here xD
Here it used to rain like 8 months of the year but with the climatic change we are getting few rain lately.
Being allergic to Glutamate must suck. They put it everywhere this days!
I'm actually jealous. I know that's a hardship on lots of people, but just once I'd like to see a real winter here again.

I'm from Lugo, a small city on Northwestern Spain. I live in Conway, Arkansas (pronounced AR-kan-saw) in the southern USA. We're 4,388 miles apart (or 7,061 kilometers).

It's not actually an allergy, per se. MSG doesn't cause me any respiratory issues. It just causes intestinal distress now and then. I take Immodium and wait it out. Feeling better now, actually. But thanks for the concern.
Thanks for using the metric system! After many years playing D&D and Pathfinder I've still problems to measure things in miles, feet, etc.
Also, I've heard of Arkansas but I've always pronounced it wrong: Ar-KAN-sass.
Ar KAN sass is the river, unless you live in (states) Oklahoma or Arkansas. In those two states, the river is the AR kan saw river
AR kan saw is the state
and
KAN sass is the state
MSG is used because processed snack foods have all the taste processed out of them. I prefer real food, but don't always have the time to go to the grocery to get it. I'm perfectly happy with a bag of baby carrots, but during the work week I'm in a rush to catch a bus.

Just took a shot of Rum to help with my allergies. :)
I know how you feel. I love cooking, but when I work until late there are days I don't feel like doing it. That days I get home so hungry that I could eat anything as long as I don't have to cook it.

If it doesn't come from a can or a box I pretty much just eat cereal instead. I do make a pretty good chili, but I use prepackaged spices and add a few things of my own to it.

Whenever I make Macaroni and Cheese I prefer real cheese and not the vile orange powder they put in the boxes. The last time I made it, I used Velveta cheese, a bag of Kraft shredded Sharp Cheddar, and a bit of Grated Parmesan cheese.

Whatever I happen to have on hand, actually. It's the alcohol that helps clear up the sinuses. I used Vodka once and was allergy-free for weeks.

I always have some parm to grate. I like to grate it in the moment. But I love to make my quick pasta with tomato sauce and ricotta (I do the tomato sauce myself because I don't like the commercial ones a lot and I like adding oregano and basil to it).

Leaving the message boards for a while. I've got to go renew my weekly Transit pass, and do a couple other things.

It's getting easier to find - generally the best places to look are Eastern European food shops.
I think I am done for today. It's still early but I just want to get into my warm bed even if I'm not going to sleep. So tired today.
