Hey looking for help building from the ground up.
My group is starting a new campaign and where going to start at level 10 but I don't know how to build a dragon disciple.
So far the only think I've done is my rolls 14 14 14 10 10 8.
I mostly play ranged classes was hoping to keep doing that if I can.

Dragon Disciple is far better as a melee class because of the free stat buffs you get but here is my suggestion for a ranged Dragon Disciple build. This does rely on you being allowed to play Bloodrager in your game though!
Race - Half Orc
5 Lv. Bloodrager / 1 Lv. Fighter / 4 Lv. Dragon Disciple
Favoured Class Bloodrager, +5 Rage Rounds
STR 10 + 4 = 14 (+4 from Dragon Disciple bonuses)
DEX 14 + 4 = 18 (2 from racial, 2 from leveling)
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 08
CHA 14
Feats
1 - Point Blank Shot
1 - Endurance (trades out Half - Orc Intimidating)
3 - Precise Shot
4 - Enchew Materials (bonus bloodrager)
5 - Rapid Shot
6 - Manyshot (bonus fighter)
7 - Weapon Focus Comp. Longbow
8 - Improved Initiative (bloodline Dragon Disciple)
9 - Deadly Aim
Pretty basic feat list. As for your spells, you'll have access to second level spells.
1st level - Shield, True Strike, Mage Armor (never know when you're going to fight something incoporeal), ????
2nd level - False Life, Cat's Grace or Bull's Strength
As for your gear, just standard stuff. Stat belts, stat headband. The most important thing though is to get your composite longbow up to a +1 then make it adaptive (1000gp addon). This is important since you'll have access to Bloodrage which will raise your strength and allow you to take full advantage of the bonus without taking negatives for setting the strength to high if you run out of rage rounds (or just don't feel you need to spend them that combat).

as mentioned above, Dragon Disciple is more of a caster class, that can function well in melee due to stat buffs. I have to jump on the train and ask why Dragon Disciple? Is it the idea of being "half dragon"? If thats the draw, and you want to play range I would suggest Fighter with the Dragonheir Scion archetype. Gives the flavor of Dragon Disciple, and the feats to keep up with a strong range dps build.

The main reason to be a dragon disciple is to be a melee guy that supplements his fighting using his own magic.
If you're planning on casting spells, it does nothing for you. It delays your spells to give you some HP and AC.
It's a similar vibe to what the bloodrager is, just a different take on doing it.
So to give you good advice, we need to know what you want or why you're doing this. I mean, we can make an archer work, but you can make an archer work like 3 different ways, so to know which we need to know what you're going for.

With the new feats that allow you to not lose caster levels when taking prestige classes going into Dragon Disciple now merits a very serious consideration for any sorcerer with the draconic bloodline.
A Sor 5/DD 10 with full caster progression (costs 4 feats) has the following differences from a straight Sor 15:
-4 general feats
-1 to reflex saves
+45 hp from HD difference (assuming average hp per HD) and Con bonus
+2 to fort saves (+1 from con bonus, +1 from DD save progression)
+4 to strength
+3 natural armor
+1 use per day of breath weapon
+bite attack when using bloodline claws
+15 skill points and one additional language from int bonus
+1 bloodline feat
+30 ft. speed to bloodline wings
60 ft. blindsense
Diplomacy, Escape Artist, and all knowledge skills as class skills
+2 bonus to perception, or +4 if 10 ranks (from prerequisite feat)
form of the dragon II twice per day

My issue with that comparison is if you're a full casting sorcerer, the AC is usually not competitive, The STR is making the dumped 7 go to an 11. The fort save is 1 feat. you missed FCB.
So the HP is nice, the breath weapon is maybe nice, skills are nice, the feat is maybe nice.
But are those worth 3 feats?
Most builds I've seen want feats, spell focus types, crafting, metamagic. So I'm not sure if it's a strong candidate for a spellcasting sorcerer.

My personal favorite for Dragon Disciple is a mix of Paladin and Sorcerer.
A Paladin is already MAD, melee, and uses Cha. Since the DD combination slows spell progression, there is less need for maxed out Cha like you want with a Sorcerer, so you can skimp a few points there during creation. The build is primarily an interesting melee character, so focus on buffs and support type spells, and the lowered Cha doesn't matter that much for DC's.
The Paladin levels make use of the Cha for saves as well as granting Smite for extra damage and bypassing DR.
And, you can be a Gold Dragon Disciple to match the alignment, which is kind of cool.
Probably not the most incredibly optimized build that has ever existed, but it can be fun to play.
If you take Arcane Armor Training, then invest in a Mithral Kikko, you get a +5 armor bonus (before enchantments) that doesn't impact your arcane casting. If you wanted to blow another Feat on Arcane Armor Mastery, you could go up to Mithral Full Plate with only a 5% ASF.

The prerequisite feat (Favored Prestige Class) for taking Prestigious Spellcaster allows you to pick a prestige class for your favored class, so you're still getting your standard FCB.
Whether or not it's worth the feats depends on the character's build goals. But consider that you can allocate your starting stats differently knowing you'll get those stats back by taking DD. Not only can you more easily dump Str down to 7, but you could also dump Int to 8 and start with a Con of 12, knowing that you'll eventually get those stats back.

I don't know, Most casters dump to 7 str already, and don't care to have it higher.
And the int and con hits are something you have to live without for a long time.
I think it's more, if you're looking at DD then look at these feats to get casting, than I think it's, if you're a Draconic sorcerer look at DD because of these 4 feats.
