Wyroot, on a crit does it do damage or just take a life point

Does Wyroot weapons not deal damage on a crit?

RAW it deals no damage a crit. IIRC, there was a FAQ that said it was intended that it would do normal damage on a crit but I can't seem to find it. I think it makes sense that the critical damage be sacrificed for the life point.

I've always interpreted it as the 'life force absorption' not doing any damage... not the spear impaling their skull.

Not that reason matters all that much, but it's always seemed reasonable to me that normal (critical multiplied) damage be done, and a life point (which does not further harm the target) be gained.
