I could see remaining in-style for a little while after combat: sometimes a combat might seem like it's over when it isn't, and sometimes it takes a little while for the fog of war to clear away.
Otherwise, it leaves the door open for metagaming. "I know combat is over, because I slipped out of Snake Style!" It seems fair, in most cases, to allow and/or compel the party Perception Checks to determine if they truly are out of initiative.
But staying in-Style constantly seems like a no. The runnings of PFS scenarios make this almost as unnecessary as it is illegal. Attempting to remain in-Style while out of Combat should incur penalties from a homespinning GM at least as bad as sleeping in armor.
I can even see housespinning an affliction:
PTSD: A life of constant warfare has left you a hyper-alert wreck
You are never surprised or Flatfooted, and any in-combat-only effects are always active, but you are constantly have both the Fatigued and Shaken conditions, and your Diplomacy and Sense Motive Checks are at a -4. A successful Intimidate check causes you to be Panicked rather than Shaken.

As a house rule, outside of combat I'd apply the running rules to staying in a style. Rounds equal to con score with no checks, then Con checks starting at 10, +1 per round to remain in the style. After you fail, you drop out for an equal amount of time.
I'd throw fatigued for double the rounds you were in the style as well, or exhausted if you had been fatigued already.
