The number of d6s you roll is still limited to a number equal to your Dexterity modifier (minimum 1), and you can roll another d6 after a natural roll of 5 or 6 only once per use of derring-do.
"5 or 6" should probably be just "5." The feat lets you roll another d6 on a roll of 5 once per use of derring-do, but you can roll additional d6s on rolls of 6 as normal.

I don't think you can deliver them as a free action, though. Only a touch attack is free, ordinarily you have to wait a round and hold the charge to do an unarmed strike or natural attack.
