I just wanted to add that I am also very disappointed that there will not be a sanity system. I used an ad hoc one while running carrion crown and it added quite a bit to the game; especially during the haunts. It was a lot of fun when a character went all the way to zero for the sanity (used a random chart from another system).
So I do hope that there is at least an optional sanity system for I am curious how paizo would develop such a sanity system.

Overall, I find the players guides very helpful from a crunch perspective; helpful hints and traits to help players generate usable and thus more enjoyable PC's.
My expectation for SA as a Horror themed AP is slightly different than my expectations for a more traditional AP. Player specific tips and techniques for playing in a horror themed game will be covered in the Horror hardcover and Player's Companion I'm certain.
I believe having SA specific tips by class would be great. Especially for classes which may not lend themselves to the Horror genre.

I'm new to the buying them as they release. When you say ship to subscribers the 15th, does that mean they are also available to download on the 15th, or is the street date of Aug 31 for the download as well?
There's always a ship start and a ship end date, which you can check in the stickies in the Customer Service forum. Your order can ship any time in that window, and when it does you'll have access to the pdfs. So some people will get them on the 15th, and some people not until the next week. (Note: On Thursday the 11th, the order will spawn. This is not your shipping notification, just a notice that your order has processed. You'll get another email when it ships.)
EDIT: Link to the shipping thread for the month. Shipping is August 15-August 26.

Just to clarify, you won't be able to buy the PDF version of the AP's until the street date. The only way to have a shot at getting it before that date is by subscribing...since you get access to it as soon as your physical copy ships during the shipping window Eliandra was talking about.

Another question about the Amnesia that I'm wondering about: Did the amnesia reduce PCs levels to 1st? Part of me wonders if it'd be more interesting to learn you were skilled in something kind of the way Quaid (Ahnold) learned about Hauser (also Ahnold) in the good Total Recall, rather than having been first level the whole time, in which case, what have you accomplished in your past, REALLY?

That's the assumption under which our group has been crafting backstories, but I don't think we know the official word yet.

I asked James Jacobs a sort of similar question a month or so ago (was basically "Would it be possible to run a module before Strange Aeons with the characters that the same group would be playing in SA but revert them back to level 1 at the start of the AP due to amnesia?") and his response was basically "that's a bad idea, see why when the AP gets released".

Is it true that the Yellow Sign will be included in the Player's Guide to get the group into the "right" mindset?

That's not true, but people should certainly read it, so thanks for posting a handy link. :)

"a little later this week" could still technically mean in the next 5 minutes...
Why yes, I AM evil, why do you ask?

The sacrifices have been made, the old gods propitiated, but still the elusive player's guide does not appear! What have the cultists done to offend the great Paizo monster? What sacrifice must be made to make this ritual work?
Time probably. Just sacrifice time. And waiting. Lots and lots of waiting.

I do want to assure everyone that the Player's Guide is done and ready for your eager eyes. However, there are a lot of behind the scenes moving parts that need to be addressed before it can go live.
This is also why I am often vague about when something like Player's Guides will be available. As free, digital-only products, they often follow different processes (for example, they don't need to be solicited to book sellers/distributors). There have been plenty of times in the past where I "promised" something in a messageboard comment and because of other reasons that didn't come to pass my statement wasn't accurate, so I continue to be vague in my official predictions. Some subscribers will have the first volume of Strange Aeons in their downloads a day or three before the Player's Guide is available, but I truly don't think that will postpone anyone's campaigns, and if that's the case I do apologize.
Also, I'm really eager to see how people like the campaign! It's super weird, but fun and creepy!

Nope, not postponing us, two books of Mummy's Mask or a little more than three of Giant Slayer is doing that, I'm just eager to see what is in store, and the flurry of character generation ideas that follow.
Very much appreciative of the existence of the AP players guide, they always have done a great job of setting the tone.
