There are a few things I am looking forward to for the PC races. Androids/Robots are the first to come to mind. Then some kind of enlightened psychic/magical Race (Vulcans, Asari). Plus your classic Imperial Warrior Culture (Klingons, Turians, Mandalorians). But with all of Space you could easily just throw in what ever aliens you want and call it good.
As for Monsters I am looking forward to seeing what their version of the Borg/Tyranids/Zerg are.

Some kind of rabbit folk based playable race.
There seems to be a lot of interest in "uplifted animal to anthropomorphic humanoid" PC They could all be rounded up into one race with a floating stat bonus (say two +2 and a -2) and a smallish list of alternate racial traits to represent Scent, Low Light Vision, bonus movement speed, swim speed, etc. That way you can get wolf, rabbit, cat, deer, dolphin and all in one entry.

A rare PC race that speaks entirely in metaphors and allusions based on their cultural mythology. They have terrible language options and a penalty to Linguistics, but are good fighters, impose penalties to Linguistics checks used nefariously against them, and (saving grace) a large bonus to Diplomacy, Sense Motive, and to Bluff checks to innuendo.
Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra? I'm game.
I'm also good with a Golarion equivalent of The Great Race of Yith. It's not like Lovecraft is an unfamiliar topic in the Paizo offices.

Yithians are already in one of the more recent Bestiaries.
Well that's what I get for not perusing recent Bestiaries more than once.
I replace my Yith idea with the Graaka from Space Rangers. Then I go to look up Yithians in Pathfinder.

Oh, I had a race of evolved familiars once.
One of the things wizards would do for their 'heir apparent' is pass on their familiar to them. Familiars would live as long as their owners did. Over time the exposure to the magic of being a familiar and the passing on of the same familiar over and over caused them to evolve into an intelligent race in their own right.
[tangent] There was an old fantasy book, Forgotten Beasts of Eld, in which one of the 'forgotten beasts' was a black cat named Moriah, who had been familiar to a dozen or more witches over her immortal life as a supernatural creature, and while she wasn't capable of casting spells herself, she had an encyclopedic knowledge of magic and witchcraft, and would occasionally offer 'helpful' advice like, 'Is he bothering you? I know a spell that will melt his bones...'
Also elves have always bothered me. The description is always about grace and beauty - never brilliance or geniuses. But their stat bonus is intelligence not charisma.
That's just a 3.X ism, because they wanted them to have favored class Wizard, when, in 3rd edition, they pretty much screamed out to be favored class *Sorcerer.* (Or perhaps even Bard.) But no, they wanted to stick to the traditional 'magic-user' of previous editions, and not the shiny new Sorcerer, so the racial bonus had to go into Intelligence, even if that made less sense than Charisma, based on the racial descriptive text. (+Intelligence would have made more sense for *Dwarves, IMO.*)
More on-topic, I'm hoping that the alien races made available have a decent series of stat options, without necessarily going all 'Blood off Fiends/a subrace for every possible stat combo.'
Right now, if you want to play a Dex or Cha based class, you've got a bajillion options, counting all the 'uncommon' races, but +Str and +Int (or Small races that don't also have a Str penalty) are quite a bit rarer.

At this point, Internet millennials speaking in memes is already pretty close. Will their pantheon of deities will be headed by a cat god of some sort?

Memeis, God of felines and keyboard music.

Since we can't use anything copyrighted, here's my 10 cents:
-Human (duh)
-reptilian (+2 con and dex, -2 wis)
-insectoid-thing (+2 wis and con, -2 int)
-robot (+2 int and str, -2 dex)
-avian-thing (+2 cha and dex, -2 str)
-Mutant/hybrid (basically half elf/orc, though not many options for humans to breed with...)
-psion race (+2 int and wis, -2 cha)
-something like archons or other ethereal beings (+2 cha and wis, -2 con)
-slugs! :D (+2 wis and cha, -2 dex)
-rockmen/golem things (+2 str and con, -2 int)
I will admit that a few of these are based on FTL, but only because it has such generic races. Also, these names are fluid, and should be changed to something MUCH cooler sounding.

Something like the creature from the movie "20 Million Miles to Earth". A tough monstrous humanoid that is tiny size on it's home planet and because of the atmosphere, gravity, etc. it stays that big. But once it's on a planet like earth it begins to grow uncontrollable and becomes increasingly hostile. Strong against bullets, heat, cold, immune to acid and poison, eats sulfur, and is vulnerable to electricity.

I literally know nothing about the Thri-Kreen other than that they have four arms, so no, they're not meant to be space Thri-Kreen.

I always thought that thing looked like Hulk Hogan mixed with the creature from the black lagoon and given a tail.

Alternity, Known Space, and d20 Future/Star Drive races could be mimicked.
I liked the Fraal, Mechalus, Sesheyans, T'Sa, Werren, and Klicks
Goa'uld, Wraith, and Replicators would make nasty enemies, maybe a Cylon clone civilization
The Crystalline Entity, the six-race Xindi nation, wormhole aliens, sentient nanites, and Horta.
Pierson's Puppeteers, Kzinti, Outsiders
And how about Space Kender!

POINT OF ORDER!
In both 3.0 and 3.5, elves (the default elves, anyhow), have +2 Dex, -2 Con, and no other ability score modifiers. In 3.5, Grey Elves (a variant found in the Monster Manual) have +2 Dex, +2 Int, -2 Con, and -2 Strength.
The addition of an Int bonus to "standard" elves, however, did not happen in either of the official versions of D&D 3rd edition, although Paizo/Pathfinder (among some other 3PPs) did add an intelligence bonus to the "normal" elves, but it isn't fair to call it a "3.Xism," since it isn't.
In 4e, there are two elf races in the PHB: elves and eladrin. Eladrin get a bonus to Dex and Int, while elves get a bonus to Dex and Wisdom.

Racist? Wha?
Google Thri Kreen. They been around since the mid 80's In D&D. Think they originated in the Athas setting but not 100% positive.
I only mentioned them because they looked extremely similar to what you posted.

I would suggest first looking at alien races rumored to exist from stories and tales of those that supposedly have seen them. "Greys" are an obvious choice, but there are others. However, people will want to see something like a xenomorph or predator. It would be better to create an advanced races book for Starfinder to allow players and GM's to create their own.

The joke was that calling them thri-kreen just because they're 4 armed bugs is racist. "All bug people look alike."
"/s" denotes what came before it as sarcasm.

A multidimensional empire like the Universal Union would be pretty awesome. Like the Aboleths but they tweak their subject races to survive under harsh conditions (extreme heat, cold, radiation, poisonous atmospheres, etc).
Would a realm like Xen fit in well as a demiplane or a peculiar nook of the Astral Plane? It wasn't just one space; it was many demiplanes linked by portals...some encased in infinite solid rock, others bottomless pits, some like factories of living machines tended by slaves who had never seen an alien in generations...

All of the above honestly. Normally I hate the idea of aliens from a totally different planet that just happen to look like blue catpeople--but it being a fantasy space setting that works for me a lot better. That said some truly alien creatures would be something I'd really like to see as well. And you can get away with that, because it's not just fantasy so you can throw in weird alien stuff like they did in Morrowind without ruining the feel of the setting--because you're free to be as sci-fi as you want.
Its very freeing.

I'm fine with Vulcans being Lawful, but Good? *Most illogical.*
Speaking seriously, given the variety of races available in the whole entire galaxy, l'd love to see some sort race building system included in the CRB. Not anything so intricate as the Advanced Race Guide, more like a list of stat mods, skills and feats that you apply to the PF standard human racial traits for each alien. Every single Klingon would have +2 STR, Intimidation and Weapon Proficiency: Bat'leth as their human racial ability score mod, bonus skill and bonus feat, if you see what I mean.
Y'know, not that it has to be Star Trek; I want a long, long list in the appendix of every single alien race you can think of. ;)
