PaizoCon 2017

PaizoCon General Discussion

1 to 50 of 89 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Looking through the posts and recaps of PaizoCon 2016, I did not see mention of the location and dates for PaizoCon 2017. Will it again be Memorial Day weekend at the same DoubleTree?

Yes and yes.

We'll update the overall PaizoCon page sometime this week, but yes, the official dates for PaizoCon 2017 are Friday, May 26 through Monday, May 29.

when will the schedule be up

The dates still don't appear to be up. Can you add them on the Paizocon page for those of us that plan ahead?

Hmm

Yikes! Of course! I apologize for this falling through the cracks, I'll try to have those up this week :)

Liberty's Edge

Is there a hotel code for the Doubletree?

Hey, if you want to get their attention, it helps to flash a bright light in front of them.

Wait, now I'm thinking of Paizo moths.

Approximately when will tickets go on sale?

OMG! Are you going to make it again, Sebastian?!

Of course, the year I can't make it. :P

I think so - my son has been bitten by the Pathfinder bug and he really, really wants to go. So I'll be there (subject to him earning the reward of going to PaizoCon), albeit with a 13 year old in tow. It'll be great to see you again in person.

We are hoping to get our Guests of Honor squared away soon and shortly thereafter put badges on sale with an announcement.

My personal goal is to have them go up in the month of November 2016.
I'll still be happy if they go up by December 31st, 2016.
They have to go live before May 1st, 2017.

Hope that helps!

PaizoCon 2017 is being held at the DoubleTree, yes?
Is there a PaizoCon room rate code yet?

Grand Lodge

I booked at DoubleTree a month ago and they already had a PaizoCon rate.

Liberty's Edge

Really? Hmmm ...

That's interesting.

I thought the whole point was there isn't a PaizoCon room rate until Paizo actually announces it.

Wouldn't it be a pickle if they ran out of rooms at the PaizoCon room rate BEFORE Paizo actually announced it :/

Grand Lodge

It caught me by surprise as well.

I had talked to Paizo's spectacular Customer Service on the phone only about twenty minutes earlier, trying to get as much early-bird information as I could. (I missed out on Gen Con 2016 because I waited until late May.) Paizo had nothing concrete except that it'd be Memorial Day weekend and that it would be again at the Doubletree -- that was 'un'officially confirmed by a shout from across the room at Paizo HQ while I was on the phone with them. ....So when I was calling the hotels around the Doubletree, including the Doubletree, for room rates, I was surprised that the rep for Doubletree already had a special rate for the PaizoCon event for that weekend.

I can't say with confidence whether the Doubletree rep's 'warning' that those rooms were almost sold out was sincere or, more likely, if it was just a sales-ploy to get me to book my room immediately so he could make a commission.

Lantern Lodge Customer Service Manager

The hotel rate isn't tied to the announcements, though sometimes we are still waiting on links and information from them before we can announce to a broad audience that everything is ready to go.

Liberty's Edge

Well now I'm even more confused. Sarah, is the room rate already set up and is the hotel already taking reservations under it? The comment by that hotel employee saying that the PaizoCon rooms are almost gone is kind of alarming ...

Badge and Banquet ticket purchased.

Tim - we need a table for those of us who have attended all 10 PaizoCons.

Damn, it is the 10th PaizoCon, isn't it? Now I'm double sad to miss it.

Hmmmm.

Can't seem to get a Monday night for a double queen and everything else is sold out...

Well. Got my tickets, booked accomodation and flights a few months ago. Not at double tree, but 200 meters down the street and cheaper than the non con rate. So glad to finally be getting to it. I might even have to bring Digger Harkness along to play.

Booked my room. Hopefully it was under the convention rate.

Did you try Monday night at regular rate? Maybe it's just not available at Con rate?

Monday is PART of PaizoCon and is listed at DoubleTree AS part of the room block (PaizoCon 2017 Room Block - MAY 22, 2017 - MAY 31, 2017)

Yet, I just tried to book my room and Monday is indeed listed as not being available.

I'm sure Sara and co will get it straightened out

Grand Lodge

Someone said they've already booked airline tickets....

I haven't been able to that far in advance, yet. I was looking at Southwest Airlines since I have reward points saving me a, oooooh, whopping $100.

Lantern Lodge Customer Service Manager

Monday and Tuesday pre-PaizoCon were not in our contract for the hotel rate. Jeff and I are working with the hotel to look into options.

Liberty's Edge

It's actually Monday May 29th, the last day of the con. According to thr Doubletree registration site, you can't check out on Monday May 29th, even though that date is part of the room block and is actually the last day of the con!

We have to be able to have a room for Sunday night - how can Monday May 29th already be sold out?

Lantern Lodge Customer Service Manager

Just spoke with the hotel and all nights should have plenty of room block rooms still available. If something isn't letting you process it online I would definitely suggest giving them a call directly.

So you want Sunday evening or Monday evening. It shows Monday as "unavailable" but that's Monday NIGHT it's talking about. I was able to get through Sunday night no problem, with checkout Monday morning and nothing available Monday night.

RyanH wrote:

I was just able to book a room from the PaizoCon block for Monday night (checking out on Tuesday) at the convention rate.

Purchased tickets for the con and the banquet... but the banquet tickets aren't showing up under my e-tickets. I've been able to transfer two of the tickets I purchased to the friends I wanted to give them to but since the banquet tickets aren't showing up, I can't send them those as well.

The details under my orders still shows them there, I just can't see them. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I booked mine through travel agent approximately two months ago. Flights are with United. But I was also booking international flights from Australia. I did see that I was not able to book internal US flights by myself without booking the international flights at the same time though.

Liberty's Edge

I spoke with the hotel's Senior Event Manager and got everything worked out. Sounds like they had some sort of glitch in the online registration tool that was not allowing people to select Monday the 29th as their check out day.

Big thanks to Sara Marie Customer and the rest of the crew for helping to get this resolved!

I know Starfinder wont be out until Gencon, but will there be any events that will allow attendees to playtest Starfinder at all? Maybe a few lottery tables run by the developers?

Liberty's Edge

We won't know for sure until the event list is announced, but I'm betting there will be plenty of Starfinder goodness to test drive

Hey Sara, I'm a massage therapist from Canada who would like to do a nice favour for some of the Paizo staff. No one is getting back to me (read Eric, Lisa). Can you contact me before the con so I will know if I should bring my massage chair or not?
