Can a Nobel Hunter's Baboon use weapons?

Since the animal companion of a Nobel Hunter Is as intelligent as a familiar, does that mean that a Baboon can use weapon? I can not think of any other companions, legal or otherwise, that has opposable digits.

Animal Companions cannot use weapons regardless of their Int score. You could add every ability advance they got into Int and they still couldn't use a weapon as per the FAQ.

The main reason that I am wondering though, is because the archetype says that your companion is now intelligent enough to not need tricks.

The creature still follows most rules for an animal companion, despite now being a magical beast and having a higher Intelligence score. My inclination is to stick with other rulings on animal companion weapon usage, which is to say that they cannot do so.

Its also a matter of instinct and anatomy. A gorilla can HOLD a pole arm but to use a weapon you need an uprightposture and stance that they can't maintain in the heat of battle.

That is a bit of a grumble, but thank you for a swift official response.

As a follow up question, what would a polar bear transform into at level 2? Would a bear like animal, such as a koala be closest, or an arctic animal, such as an arctic fox or ermine?

Anything cute and cuddly fits thematically. Baby polar bear? Racoon? Albino Red panda?

I'd be a little leery of having any mammal turn into a marsupial though

Raccoon or Albino Red Panda make the most sense to me, for a different reason each, thank you.

One would hope that a Nobel companion would be Peaceful instead of wanting to use weapons.
